I just recently purchased my wedding gown from Danel’s Bridal Salon (my wear date was 8/13/16). For those of you not interested in reading my full list of complaints below, here’s the summary: I had a horrible experience at this dress shop. I encountered a variety of issues, ranging from incredibly rude and pretentious staff to persistent errors in my contact information (which they use to inform you when your dress arrives) to staff attempting to charge me for items that their supplier could not ship until a week after my wear date. This store is disorganized and their staff needs a significant customer service overhaul. The main offender was an older woman, I believe her name was Sylvia. In sum, while I did end up purchasing my dress at this establishment, I dreaded every time I had to visit their shop. Below I will list the specific complaints I had while working with these people, in the order that they occurred. 1. Upon arriving at the store for the first time, I told the older woman who was helping me (hereafter referred to as Sylvia) my price range, which was $500.00-$900.00. After hearing my range, she rolled her eyes, looked at the ground, and sighed deeply. After asking her how I should interpret her response (which was so shockingly overt I felt a need to ask what was the matter), she told me that their store would not have much for me in terms of options. I then tried on 5-6 gowns that were well within that range (and later purchased my gown for $800.00). 2. After telling another employee (a man, I believe his name was Mike - not sure though) that I had just visited the shop down the road (the Bridal Emporium — a store that makes wedding gowns accessible to those with lower incomes) he mocked me and said that he was “Sorry I had to go through that”. As a side, I would highly recommend the Bridal Emporium. They were extremely kind and made an appointment where I had the whole second floor to myself along with a helper. At Danel’s you do not need an appointment, which often resulted in staff shortages and a generally hurried and impersonal experience. 3. I came into the store a second time to 1) check that my information was correctly filed and 2) to look for a headpiece and a veil. I asked Sylvia where I could see their veils and headpieces, and this was her response: “You want to get BOTH??” . This uncharitable response was accompanied by the familiar rolling eyes, raised eyebrows, and sarcastic sigh. 4. While attempting to purchase a bridal belt from their shop, I asked Sylvia whether or not the belt would be delivered to their store in time for my wear date. After asking her to check with their supplier many times, she promised me over and over that they would certainly get it within the next week or two, well within my timeframe. As Sylvia was writing up my bill for the belt, I insisted that she call the supplier. The supplier said that the belt would be delivered a week after my wear date. I did not go through with the purchase. 5. After almost being charged for a belt that I would not have received on time, I asked her to read the phone number to me that they had on file, just to be safe (things seemed pretty disorganized there at this point, and this is a very important purchase after all!). They had my number on file incorrectly. I went into the store on a separate occasion following this, and my number was still listed incorrectly at that point. Note that they use your phone number to call you once your gown arrives. These are the main complaints that I have with the store — if I were to go into depth concerning each negative interaction my review would be much longer than the novel it already is. Rude, impersonal service, accompanied by completely unjustified pretentiousness. I am extremely disappointed that my wedding dress experience was this negative.

If you have the opportunity, go elsewhere. Today, at this supposedly professional establishment, I received the rudest customer service Ive ever experienced in my lifetime. After calling ahead to ask about appointments and ordering procedures, I went in to purchase an Alfred Angelo dress that needed to be ordered. I had the style number and color ready to go but was not sure of my dress size. From the very moment that the sale associate unwillingly began to assist me, she had an unsavory attitude. When I arrived at the front desk and she approached, she began to fiddle with objects at the counter before even addressing me. Once she did finally address me, the phone rang and she stopped our conversation to pick it up, not once but twice. I worked in customer service for a number of years and that is a big no, no. During our very brief discussion she seemed entirely unwilling to sell anything to me by providing curt responses. Finally, I had to say that I was told on the phone I could purchase a specific dress in that shop and that I drove an hour to make the order before she even seemed remotely willing to sell me a dress. Then it came to sizing. She was very annoyed that I wasnt sure of my dress size given that they tend to run small. It wasnt until I mentioned that the sole reason I came to this establishment is because of the professed good customer service on the webpage, that "the professional" began to treat me like a customer purchasing a product. Disgruntled, she pulled a few dresses off of the shelf so that I could determine my own size. During the time that I spent waiting to pay my bill, I noticed the way that she acted towards other customers. She happily measured their bust, waist and hip sizes with the measuring band and asked if they would like to pay 50% of the bill now and 50% of the bill later. Neither of these services were offered to me. She also spent a few minutes filling out each persons order form and she handed me a blank to fill in each detail of the dress and my information on my own. The most annoying part is that I had the option to drive the same distance and go to an Alfred Angelo chain but had instead chosen to support a local business thinking that it would be a better experience and money well spent.

I have had numerous not-so-good experiences with Danel Bridal Salon. Keep in mind, I am not from the immediate area, so getting to Danels wasnt exactly a hop, skip, and a jump. 1. I went to them when I was a bridesmaid in my brothers wedding before they moved to Washington Ave. I was incorrectly informed that alterations were included in the price of the dress I ordered. After they moved to Washington Ave: 2. When I was in town, I drove a friend to Danels so she could check on a pair of shoes she ordered to see if they were in. She had previously tried calling the store, but no one answered. Turns out the shoes had been in for weeks, but no one bothered to call her to let her know. 3. I decided to give Danels another chance with my wedding, mostly because their prices beat everyone elses, and that was a major plus. My bridesmaids and I ordered our dresses from them. I was informed that I would be called (to let me know the expected date of arrival) the day they were ordered (as soon as all of my bridesmaids called in with their measurements), but I was not called. When I called them, it took 3 days of my calling and leaving messages, and them not returning my calls, to finally get ahold of someone there, to find out that our dresses will arrive less than two weeks before my wedding. 4. Two of my bridesmaids ordered wraps with their dresses. Danels did call me to let me know that the "4 yards of satin fabric" that I ordered had arrived. They forgot to mention that ordering a wrap meant we were ordering fabric that had to be converted into a wrap, at our expense. Conclusion: I would NOT recommend this bridal store to anyone unless youre desperately strapped for cash.
