I read reviews about this shop by others, but thought, how difficult can it be to fix the front flat tire. So I brought my bike to have the front flat tire fixed. I get a call in 30 min after drop off, saying the bike is ready. I come to the shop the guy says your bike is ready, the back tire is fixed. “What back tire!” I say, “the front tire has the flat! can’t you tell or see, just feel it?” “oh” says the guy with the cool earrings, “no problem, its on the house for the back tire, now we fix it the right way.” So once the front tire flat is fixed and I get the bike, I noticed my rear wheel is not spinning freely and is overly tight, my fenders are crooked, my steering wheel is off center and my bolt covers are missing. I had the guy with the earrings corrects it all, he is cool, but the fat guy downstairs needs to be fired. Fortunatly I know bikes well otherwise I would have a crappy bike back that could of caused me injury. Eric from the review was right on man! My bike was a mess!!!!! Never come to this store again.

Love, love, love, love! A friend gave me a bike. I took it to Bike Stop to get a tune-up. Then I went back multiple times to buy accessories. They gave honest opinions about the products, even selling me less expensive items b/c they knew I didnt need the high end stuff. Yes, some of the accessories I could buy online for slightly cheaper, but the Bike Stop guys install them and explain how they work. They are all friendly and laid-back, which should not be mistaken for uncaring. When theyre not busy, they are always willing to give advice on bike safety and any other general biking questions I have, since Ive only been biking for a year. I will definitely continue to shop here!

I have never written a review before but feel that people should be aware that the front desk service at the Bike Stop leaves a great deal to be desired both on the phone and in person. There are people hanging out in the tiny show room. Bike Stop groupies, I guess. The help is so unprofessional and inarticulate. Not customer oriented at all, very unhelpful and inaccurate with their information. Where did you go, Gus???? I am now, after all these years, going to switch to Bicycle Repairman Corp. at 40-21a 35th Avenue, very friendly and helpful over the phone, eager to help me. BTW, my repair work at the Bike Stop was always done well.

Friendly, helpful owner and staff. Although small, they are well-stocked with a wide variety of parts and tools (it was amazing what the owner was able to pull out from hidden drawers!) Bike Stop has a limited selection of bicycles, but enough variety to satisfy every type of cyclist. Reasonable collection of helmets and locks, but dont look for shoes or other apparel here. My sense is that their forté is repair. Owner installed everything that I bought that went on my bicycle, without me needing to ask and without additional charge. I rate this store as one of the better neighborhood bicycle shops in the NYC area.

Was helped by Francisco today and was super helpful. He was overall very knowledgeable and absolutely laid-back in his approach; which made it easy to deal. I knew what I wanted since I was looking at their company website. They didnt have both bikes that I wanted but Francisco suggested this Trek bike that I adore, so far. He also let me checkout footwear, and pedals which was really nice of him to do for me. There is also a complimentary three year tune-up on the bike, too, which is great for me, since I am a barginista. I would definitely recommend this place, and make sure you ask for Francisco.

Sadly, I have to agree with all the poor reviews. I needed a stem riser, a chain and some handlebar tape. No big deal. After being ignored for 10 minutes in the shop as one employee texted and listened to dirty jokes from another customer, I finally got acknowledged by a the other sales person. 5 minutes later, that employee went to help another person who just came in the door. Put my items on the counter and left. Cant speak to the quality of their work, but if it is similar to their customer service, its the pits. Save your time, go elsewhere there are plenty of good shops in the city.

Im very disappointed as I am waiting outside in the rain making the very wrong assumption of thinking that this place would open at its assumed 10AM. I just worked overnight (as I am a nurse) and expected these people to open their store at the time they said publicly wrote, not only on yelp, but also on their store door that they open at 10AM. Its been 20 min and I am getting more irritated by the minute. By being tardy, Im making the safe assumption that these people are not the most responsible kind.

Waited almost 10 min before someone would talk to me. And it wasnt even busy that day. These guys are there just jerking around. Basically ignoring customers. At least thats my experience the two times Ive been there. I had a tune-up done. And while I did ask for a break pad replacement, I didnt ask for new cables. They didnt even bother calling me asking or anything. They just did it and put it on the bill. I wouldnt recommend any place with poor customer service.

I went to a bike shop called Bicycle Repairman around 35th ave and spoke to a woman about fixing my breaks and she had no idea what she was talking about.....and couldnt give me a set price. She ended up telling me that it would take a week to get my bike fixed. So I ended up going here and these guys knew exactly what to do with my bike and gave me a set low price! and the guy said it would only take one hour. One hour! They were really friendly and fast!

I had a good experience at Bike Stop. We bought a Trek bicycle for my wife, we walked in on a Saturday morning and were helped immediately. The store was empty so I cannot comment on what it is like to be helped when they are busy. The prices were good, normally bike stores around NYC charge full MSRP for bikes and wont bargain, Bike Stop had the bike prices for $30 less, they also gave us 10% off on accessories. Overall very happy.

Ive been to the bike stop three times since I moved to Astoria. The first time, they adjusted my bike frame for free, the employee citing that he worked for smiles when I offered some cash. The second they installed a new tire for me free of charge outside the materials, and the third to use their free air pump twenty minutes before they even opened. Ill be coming here for all my bike needs from here on out

This place is THE BEST!!! knowledgeable, friendly and extremely professional. Theyll go above and beyond to make sure your bike is serviced as if it were their very own. Because of them my Black Betty can keep on cycling. Highly recommend this shop to the others in the Astoria area. And most important their pricing is flat out the most reasonable. BIKE STOP is #1
