A few weeks ago my friend and I visited Briarcliff Bike Works and we both had one of the best retail experiences of our lives. It is important to know that this is a specialty shop that carries a carefully chosen selection of high performance cycling equipment, and that equipment tends to be expensive. On display was wide range of price points within the high performance bracket. After spending several hours speaking with Lou and Andrew (we made an appointment) I could see why each item was there and how each one could be the best choice for a purpose. At other bike shops when I would inquire about wide carbon rims or other bleeding edge of innovation product, I was quoted the same reviews from magazines I had already read, or told a third hand report from a guy who tried it at a demo. Briarcliff not only had them in stock, they had a selection of different ones on demo bikes for me to try. 2 hours there was work 2 weeks of internet searches and forum post reading. It was clear to me that they not only had the products, had hands on experience with the products, but also truly understood they design and engineering behind them. They also have the patience to explain it to customers. I now understand more about the DW Link and VPP suspensions than I ever could from looking at picture and reading descriptions, Andrew even partially dissembled one to demonstrate how the short links and eccentrics mirrored each others function to provide a similar path of travel using different mechanisms. It up to me after riding them to decide which I liked more. I shop around on price quite and bit and at no point did I think what was being sold was overpriced. It is the latest and greatest being sold for same price the same items are sold for elsewhere. If that is what you are looking for you can save a lot of time and money by trying and buying here, instead of guessing and ordering your multiple thousand dollar bike and accessories out of a catalog without experiencing it first hand.

Lou and Andrew at Briarcliff Bike Works have been fantastic! They offer EXTREMELY competitive prices on top of the line equipment, prices are best in the area. I purchased a frame, most of the drivetrain and other miscellaneous parts for my custom built Santa Cruz Nomad Carbon through them. They built the bike for me and as far as workmanship goes, these guys are certainly top notch, they are extremely knowledgeable and were super patient and helpful throughout the entire process. I picked out every part of the bike down to the last bolt and they provided me with their unbiased opinion and insight on every aspect of the build in order to best fit my needs. As far as customer service goes, Briarcliff Bike Works is second to none. Lou was nice enough to come along on a test ride for a bike I was initially considering on purchasing, I never felt pressured into buying the bike; it was more like riding with a buddy. A couple weeks after my original purchase I had to file a warranty claim with Santa Cruz (I was at fault), and I must say I’m absolutely speechless of how far above and beyond these guys will go to do right by their customers. I would highly recommend Briarcliff to anyone considering purchasing their next bike, having their current one serviced or any other bike related need, you can rest assured with these guys you’ll always be taken care of. It’s evident that these guys’ labor is driven by their own passion for the sport. If you want something done right, and 100% service satisfaction just come to Briarcliff

Couldnt agree more with Mau23, Lou was amazing to work with. I purchased a brand new IBIS Mojo HD3 Werx build with Sram Eagle. He worked through every little detail. The entire process from our first chat to delivery was fantastic.. He was careful to make sure I got the correct dropper for my seat height. He even got me in touch with a guru at IBIS to advise on tires for my riding style and trails. He swapped out the stock tires with the perfect setup for my trails. He dialed in the suspension for me, works great. The bike was perfect for for my first ride, built out just right. This was a big investment and Lou was a low pressure guy who answered every question. I was definitely a high maintenance buyer asking tons of questions before I parted with my money. Lou could not have been more patient or informative. Not only was the service awesome, but the price was rock solid as well. No hesitations to use Lou and BriarCliff in the future.

Excellent pre-sales advice on high end bikes. Guy really knows his stuff. If you are in the market for a top tier bike this is a great place to go to. Its a bit of the opposite of REI where they are good at selling ordinary bikes, but clueless on any of the more expensive bikes. Definitely not the place to bring a kids Huffy bike for service, but thats what makes them great for their target market. There are very few bike shops that have his level of knowledge about their product. They have a distinct excitement for every minute detail of the Santa Cruz and Ibis bikes that they sell.

This is not the place to go if you have any simple questions or if you are looking for tips on doing self repairs. All this place is looking to do is squeez every dime out of you, any way possible. I was quite literally told to leave the shop becuause the guy saw I was not there to overspend on his bikes but rather ask for advice about my own bike. They sell limited tools and parts, and are rude. There are a couple of shops within ten minutes of this place that would appreciate your business more than this dump.

Lou, the owner, seemed like a very nice guy. He took me on a ride to demonstrate one of his nice Jamis road bikes. I had been to many bike shops, but he was the only person who ever went riding with me to demonstrate a bike. He may not have the biggest inventory in the area, but he seems to know a lot about bikes and cares about his customers. He carries mostly mountain and road bikes. If you are an avid mountain or road biker, I think you would like to meet Lou.

Lou has always been most accommodating, getting me my bike back really quickly so I can keep riding. I find his rates to be very good. He has been very willing to teach me about the bike and how it works. If he doesnt have a part in the shop, hell get it for you. This man really knows bicycles! I am looking forward to taking one of his bikes out for a spin.

Lou at Briarcliff Bike Works is awesome! His bike knowledge is second to none and he is always willing to chat about how to tweak your bike so you can better perform. If you are looking for performance oriented mountain and road bikes sold from a local business owner who knows his stuff, I highly encourage you to visit Briarcliff Bike Works.

The best of the best...from bikes, to parts to service. Couldnt be happier with the 5010 Lou built for me. Going on 2 years and loving it more each ride. And he just installed an ergonomic remote for my reverb. Drop seat is now so fricken fast, I gotta make sure my "boys" are out of the way.
