The photo here is of Sofia at the customer service desk at Home Depot, Newark. I will describe my brief experience at Home Depot, Newark. She is one of the central character of my 5 star experience at the store. I ordered two DuPont wiper blades ($1.88 + tax/each) online to be picked up at this store on (3/16). The order went through. However, after about an hour Sofia called to tell me that the sizes I ordered were no longer available. So, she is going to give me Michelin wipers which are $6.88 each. I was overjoyed. I went to the store to pick up the item. She had one of the most pleasant personality. To give you more context I went to the store at 6pm in the evening. She was pleasant with me and other customers. She was a great colleague as well. The way she spoke with her co-worker was a lesson for me. I picked up the wiper and found that one of the item was a returned item. Whoever returned the item replaced the original wiper with used ones. I found out this after I left the store. So, I returned to the store and told Sofia about the problem. Sofia took me to the wiper blade section and she picked up even a better wiper ($13), as no other inexpensive options were available. I took out my wallet for payment. She said that it is not your fault, so it is not your responsibility. You dont have to pay anything. I was stunned. Any other store would have cancelled the order. Not only did they go through the order, I left the store with a very positive experience. I believe every person in the store is as courteous as her. This kind of attitude needs an environment, I believe this store provides a positive environment for the customers as well as the employees. This will be my go-to store from now on. Thanks Sofia! Thanks Home Depot!

This is now my all time favorite home depot! I went to it initially just to get the 3 1/2 sales tax on a large insulation order I was making. I was getting the regular fiberglass and the Roxul rockwool and I wanted it delivered. Because one of the items I wanted was a special order and not in stock even on the web I ended up interacting with quite a few different employees. One of the employees I worked with told me he would call once the rep. from Roxul called him back. He called me before he left for the day just to let me know that the rep hadnt called him back yet and that he would follow up with me the next day. I was back today and went browsing to see if there was anything extra I needed while I was taking advantage of the tax break. I ended up in the paint, flooring, cabinetry and hardware department along with my special order in the building materials department. Everyone I interacted with was about as friendly and helpful as could be. Usually the folk who approach customers for extra services like windows and siding etc. annoy me, but even this fellow was super likable. Once I got home I realized that I misplaced my receipt (I was actually going to fill out one of those surveys because the service was excellent). I called up customer service and after mentioning my special order for insulation she remembered me from earlier and she was able to email me the receipt within a minute of being on the phone with her. This was by far the nicest shopping experience Ive had in a long time.

All I can say is that their PRO DESK department is one of he best, they are always helpful and they are always on top of everything. Other departments totally needs improvement when it comes to Customer Service. Availability is the main issue here and I hope that the CEO or Department and Store managers across the States will do something about this problem that has been going on in a very long time. Hire more people please and assign at least 2 - 3 people on each isles besides having 4 more employees working at their department desks. The key is that not to lose customer service here so people will keep coming back. Plus your inventory will stay in the same numbers because having more employees on the floor will eliminate thieves from stealing items all the time. I am talking about Great Customer service and more Security and loss prevention in the stores. Management has to step up a notch, but for the most part of it they have the most complete items that everyone needs. I also think every employee needs training every 6 Mos or at least every year for customer service etiquette which every employers out there nowadays are requiring for employees. Good day.

So yeah, to be honest I miss some of the smaller hardware stores and locksmiths that this home depot pushed into bankrupcy over the years.. at least 3 of them over the past 5 years alone, some of them who have been in business for many decades, were thoroughly seasoned and cared a great deal about their clients work. On the plus side Home Depot prices are pretty low on most items. Salt is the big one... hardware stores used to price gouge every time there was a snow storm, not the case with home depot. The manager tries to save as much as possible by hiring mostly young workers with little experience, but in their defense most of them are awesome and helpful. Everyone from the paint department to the guy helping load material into your vehicle. Every time I go there, I run into someone I know. It is ground zero for small-business home improvement in the area. You may get heckled in the parking lot for change or for a job but otherwise its relatively safe and pain free to shop there.

Worst Home Depot EVER! Aside from all of my other bad experiences there in person, just spoke to someone on the phone... believe his name was Carmen or Carlos or something? Had a heavy Jamaican accent and DIDNT EVEN WANT TO GIVE ME HIS NAME!!! He said it was because if I called, I could simply speak to someone else... Ok... So I told him, granted he had just answered some of my questions, that if, upon relating this information to someone else, they asked me "who told you this", I could refer him... didnt give me his name.... Shady business... He didnt want to be responsible for what he himself told me... Aside from the fact that while hes on the phone with me hes talking to other people while Im in the middle of my sentence, then asking me to repeat myself, and being rude... Disgusting...
