I have been a customer of REI since the mid 1980s. Imagine how surprised I am to find one right here in Las Vegas! The location is good and the store is laid out in a familiar way so that things are easy to find. All the brands and items I like are here at this store. I was very happy to pick out some new camping supplies, clothes and hiking shoes. Well, I was disappointed by how I was treated at the store. People here werent mean or nasty; on the contrary. They were very nice. I know that anyone anywhere with a chip on their shoulder and Internet access can write a negative report about anyone or any thing. This isnt the case here. I am genuinely loyal to this store. I like what they represent and how they support exploring the outdoors. I am disappointed that every one I talked to tried to get me to sign up for their 10% refund membership. I had around $500 worth of gear picked out but was disgusted that my enjoyment of shopping at one of my favorite outfitters was stomped on by scripted, artificially polite poppycock. Just because I can afford a "membership" for $20 doesnt mean that I need to be pestered about it at every turn. I dont want to be a member. I just want to go to your store every few years like Ive done for the past 30 years, spend a few bucks and be on my way. I was very polite and made it clear that although I do appreciate the offer to spend additional money, I am not interested. I dont want to be pestered into giving up my money. I just want to be left alone to spend my hard earned money the way I want to spend it. So, my old favorite, I will miss you. Maybe other people will tolerate the hard sell but I will not.

Ive visited a dozen REI stores across the US during my travels, and this one easily has the friendliest and most knowledgable staff. REI is generally solid at hiring good staff that share their experiences and offer suggestions on gear, but I was impressed at this store. 3 separate individuals spent a good 30min each discussing the pros and cons of various products, offering unique ways to fit the gear to my planned trips, and offering less costly and lighter methods that accomplished the same task. Shout out to Shaggy, Christian, and (I forget his name...was stocking some hammock equipment...sorry) for their excellent customer service. The folks behind the counter were also helpful and friendly. I plan on doing business here in the future.

if I can afford it, I like to get REI brand outdoors gear,..theres no question its going to be top quality, plus its backed up by the store...for the most part. I have REI backpack, jackets, sleeping bags that have lasted over 25 years, so they turned out to be actually much cheaper than buying discount brand stuff that lasts for one or two trips. Plus you have the satisfaction of owning something really nice! The people at the Summerlin store are great,..I took their climbing Whitney class and, sure enough,..did it. Thanks to the tips from the class I avoided a lot of the logistical mishaps that can happen with an excursion like that.

That was an unfortunate experience. Maybe I was already feeling defeated as I could not find what I needed online. Nevertheless, I enter the store, and I am sure I look lost. I did not immediately find what I was looking for, but when I did find where the item would be, the staff member looked bothered that I asked her a question. Well, okay. Go back to playing with those display shoes. I asked if there were any other locations and again with annoyed face and reply. No problem. Not that it matters to you but I would rather not patron your establishment. Thanks!

Exceptional customer service. This is the larger REI of the two in the valley. If youre an avid fan of the outdoors, I cant recommend enough becoming a member of the co-op. REI boasts a one year return policy on its merchandise, offers site-to-store shipping, and in the Spring, members receive a dividend of their spendings from the year prior. REI also does amazing garage sales. With Sports Chalet closing its doors in 2016, there arent many outdoor equipment outfitters in the valley, but Im glad we have this one.

I often liken REI to an adult Toys R Us. As much as I love camping and Hiking, I get so giddy every time I know I get to go here! Not the biggest place in the nation, but still have plenty of adequate hiking and camping gear. I cant really speak about most of the other departments, but Im sure it has most of to cover your basic needs for any outdoor activity. Plus friendly staff thats very approachable and knowledgeable!

REI is the go-to place for technical outdoor gear. Some of the other merchandise may seem pricey, but remember that REI stands behind their products and will replace/refund items that do not meet quality standards! Be sure to check out the "garage sales" that happen every couple months. You can get tons used gear for cheap! Just keep an eye on their calendars or sign up for the emails.

I am a long time outdoor enthusiast and take the gear I use seriously. I was helped by 3 different employees and each one was genuinely friendly, confident, and had thorough knowledge of their department. Will ONLY be using R.E.I. for now in for my sporting goods needs for now on.

Had an issue with a bike repair, which would have given them -5 stars, however, they did all they could to fix it, even a year later and made sure I was satisfied, earning back 4 stars for upholding their satisfaction guarantee. Im pleased with this store

Have been hiking/backpacking for a while on the cheap. Decided to upgrade all my gear. They have really cool stuff, but aint cheap. They say that you get what you pay for. I wish they would of have a better display on the Hammocks though.

Truly some of the best adventure sales people in all Rei retail outlets I have visited. They are present, polite, engaging and knowledge. These are qualities lost in todays retail workforce..special kudos to John aka "crooked foot"
