This place is great. Glad I checked it out when I did. Ive been using the range and buying ammo here about once, sometimes twice a week, for the past couple of months. Roland seems like a good guy. The woman who works there is also very attentive and helpful. There are a couple of other gentleman who work there that are just very helpful, good folks. And everyone is overall very pleasant to talk to, which is EXTREMELY rare at shooting ranges/gun stores. I have yet to find a rude or snippy employee out of the bunch. They have reloads which they sell, roughly $20+/box, that seem to be of very good quality. My M&P and my Glock eat them up and love them. No squibs to date. And I shoot A LOT, even at my property if I dont go to the range. They also have defense ammo which is fairly priced. They keep a good quality selection of guns on hand and again, the prices are reasonable. They get the guns out of the cases right away for you (if you ask) and give you the pros and cons on each one. They tell you about the trigger. About the sights. They really go down the line telling you as much as they can about each firearm (again, if you ask them) and they dont "puff up" each gun they have as the "be all, end all", as I have experienced first hand at some gun shops. ("Id recommend this Hi-Point! This is good quality.") Heck, Ive went in there and just chatted about guns for thirty minutes. Good ones. Not so good ones. They are very knowledgable about firearms, and again, I want to express, they are kind and quick to answer your questions. Ive been to certain shops which will not be named (Im a gentleman) which gouge the heck of their customers price-wise. And good luck carrying on a conversation with some folks in other ranges/shops. The only negative with OnTarget is they never have 22LR- or any 22, for that matter- for sale. I would say "who doesnt?" and defend them wholeheartedly, but as of October of 2014, some local shops, even the big box stores, have 22 on their shelves. You might pay a premium for it, but its starting to come back. Heck, its been at some places all along. But I wont tell where :) On Target is great. Go in positive, ready to shoot. Theyll see to it that you have a great time. Some of these reviewers talk about people being rude and what not. Heres an idea: know what your questions are going to be before you go in, so you yourself dont sound like a horses @ss. Youll probably get the help and experiences I get each and every time I go. Or heres another idea: if you dont know anything about guns, and want to know more about them or about what you should be looking for, TELL THEM. Tell them your new to guns. Very nice people. Nice products. Im very pleased and will continue to go there weekly. Five stars. Keep up the good work, guys. -Josh

We went here because we had a Groupon from them, which was a pretty nice deal if you want to rent a handgun (two shooters, plus a handgun rental, plus a box of ammo and two color targets for like $36). Their normal range price, as of this writing, is $18 for the first shooter, plus $5 for the second shooter, which is not bad at all for two shooters, anyway. You can also buy frequent shooters’ cards and memberships, which are pretty decent deals, and is what I would recommend if you go by yourself. A plus about this place is that unlike pretty much every other shooting range in the entire St. Louis County and surroundings that I know of, they do not forbid rapid-fire. So you can practice those double-taps to your heart’s content. The range was in good condition and clean when we went. The shooting bench was nice and big, and everything just looked good and new. It had a really nice feel to the place. The store is small, with a limited selection of guns, and the gun rentals are also limited; however, since I wasn’t there to shop for guns, Im just going to -1 star and not go into details that I dont know. They are still a new store from what I understand, and hopefully they will get more guns in as they do more business. They are pretty centrally located if you live in West County, which is nice. I expect that they will do well in that location.

I wish this shop was good as I live right down the road from them but it is one of the worst in town. The handful of times I have been in there, Id say its been 50/50 whether I am greeted or not. Let alone asked if I need any help. The main reason I stay away now is because of the condescending attitude of the employees. They are all on a power trip. (At least the few I have dealt with) I know a fair amount about guns but there is a lot I dont know as well. The employees arent very helpful or kind if there is something you dont know. Prices are high as well. FFL services are $50. Seems like most shops are $25-30. The range is nice but I cant bring myself to support their business. I drive a couple minutes further across 141 to Defensor Tactical. Cool guys in there. Real laid back. As far as range shooting; I shoot out at Jay Henges spring through fall and a new indoor range just got approved to be built behind the new Wendys in Ballwin. Im hoping those employees will have better attitudes towards their customers so I can make that my winter shooting range. Either the good reviews on here are customers who got a rare top notch experience or its friends and family trying to bump up the rating. Sorry On Target. I hate to be against a local business but your customer experience cant be recommended.

They deserve 0 stars! Im a seasoned shooter and reloader, in addition to having spent a decade in the Army. Not only do they have absolutely ridiculous prices, Ive found many of the employees have no idea what they are talking about. After having my ammo checked at the front counter, an employee stops me in the midst of shooting and begins to harass and demean me for my use of steel cased ammo (that was already okd as not having a steel core). He proceeds to tell me all steel cased ammo has a steel core projectile (completely false). Because of his horrible attitude, demeanor, and lack of respect for another human (not to mention a grown man who has served) I informed him I would never return and asked for his name. He told me I didnt need to worry about what his name is. Wow! Now that is how you run a business. Because he wanted to stay anonymous, I guess you will all just have to assume every employee is unknowledgeable, condescending, disrespectful, and rude. You couldnt pay me to shoot there. On a plus note, their imminent demise may cause them to sell off their inventory at prices more on par with the other gun shops in the area. Check out J. Henges outdoor range instead. Its in the area, nearly free, run by the dept of conservation, and normally is packed with friendly old salts.

Places like this make me sick. Do yourself a favor, take a little extra time and drive to a different shooting range or gun store. These people feed on the new and un-knowledgable. In a time where most people are trying to learn and discover the wonderful benefits of owning and using a firearm, These guys are taking the opportunity to rip off and be-little the common man. What is always remarkable to me is how a business can stay open by telling people what they want, instead of educating and promoting individual choice. These people will make you feel like a fool if you dont 100% agree with what they say. Also, it blows my mind when I talk to a business owner that talks poorly on the less expensive items in his inventory, ie Taurus. By all means if you want to be talked to like a child, ripped off, participate in an Obama bashing racist conversation, then by all means take a trip down to On Target in Valley Park! Or do yourself a favor and visit one of the other great choices we have in the metro area, places that will help you not only find a firearm you are comfortable with, but educate you and respect your business.
