I typically try to support the locally owned businesses. Plus Hackmann is much closer to me than the other larger hardware centers so I really want to like this place, but I dont. I only go here if I have to now, typically for lumber that I cant find somewhere else, but even for those needs, Ive found other local businesses that are much easier to deal with. Ive had multiple problems there over the years, usually related to service. Once I ordered a large quantity of pavers, they ended up delivering two different types, there was only supposed to be one brick type. I often find myself waiting in line there for long periods of time and frankly ignored by their staff when I just want to order something like lumber. Their prices tend to be higher, which I wouldnt mind if they provided a higher level of service; however, their service is poor compared to every other hardware store Ive been to. Unfortunately, I do not recommend.

I purchased a four piece patio wicker set from Hackmann Lumber. After seven hours of trying to assemble the set I gave up. I called Hackmann Lumber and the manager told me that theyve had to throw at least one of these sets away because they were unable to assemble as well. Apparently, the holes in the set do not align correctly for proper assembly. I am confused as to why they would continue to sell the set. At least give me a warning before I invest multiple hours into a project that is literally impossible to complete. The worst part was that the manager didnt see anything wrong with continuing to sell this product. She mentioned that some of the sets were able to be assembled. It appears Hackman Lumber is using their consumers to determine whether their products are defective. I would give this store zero stars, but unfortunately I have to give it one. Complete waste of time. I will never return to this store.

A bad experience today, and on average for the last 15 years. I went to return a coping saw that broke the first time I used it. The blade holder snapped because, like many items Hackmanns stocks, it is a cheaply made product. I took the gamble and lost. Then, because I didnt have the reciept they would not exchange it. This decision was made AFTER the cashier looked up my purchase on their computer and verified I had bought it from them. On the grounds I did not have a receipt and my purchase was not within 2 weeks, they watched me walk out for the last time. I prefer to buy from local business and service providers, but not Hackmann Lumber.

Prepaid to have a new mailbox installed. Then it took days and many calls to setup a time for installation. Then it was installed in such a way that it wont open fully. Trying for days to contact the right person to have the problem corrected---still have not had my calls returned. This the last and only job they will ever do for me. Eventually resolved all issues to my satisfaction.

Hackmann had all of the hard to find parts during my deck project and we just purchased a beautiful patio set from them. We had it delivered to make life easier and the guys even put it on the deck so I wouldnt have to. These guys have been stand outs when it comes to product quality and customer service. I just wish that I would have ordered all of my material from them.

Ive always had great experiences coming here. It really feels like a small-town hardware store. They have a lot to offer - I was especially impressed by their selection of plants for spring gardening. From getting plywood to getting keys cut, Ive had a great experience every time and the employees are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.
