Wow. Really poor customer experience. I arrived shortly before closing time, and had about 7 paint colors to find. When 5 oclock arrived, the one employee seemed WAY more interested in getting me out the door than in helping me find my last item so I could actually complete my purchase and leave a happy customer. I had asked him for help finding the last two colors, and then I spotted one myself immediately, then while were looking for the very last item I need, he turns to me and goes, "You know the store is closed, right?" So Im thinking, "Ok... so is the cash register on some sort of timer so that hes not going to be able to check me out?" So I ask, "Okay... so what does that mean?" So he gets this jerky, obnoxious tone and says, "It MEANS we lock the doors. It MEANS everybody goes home." So at that point I decided, wow, okay, Im outta here. All he had to do was be a little bit helpful and assist me in finding the final paint color I needed. Instead, he decided to make it abundantly clear that HE wanted to go home, and HE wanted to go home RIGHT NOW. Fine. I eventually had to go back to get my last 3 colors (since it was urgent and they were the only store in all of Springfield that happened to have them) after buying everything else I could find from other merchants. The second time in, I managed to avoid the dude with the dreadlocks and deal with a different employee. I wont go back here unless theyre the only store that has what I need, AND its both urgent and important (which was unfortunately the case here). UPDATE: I had to go back again, and deal with the same employee. In the end, he did try to be helpful. For that reason, Im upgrading this review from one star to three.

Ive shopped at alot of stores and got a very polite,helpful, attentive employee who knew nothing about what they were selling. While its nice to be pandered to by a trained monkey, it much is nicer to have someone who knows what they are selling regardless of your perception of their attitude. When I shopped at Hobbytown I found the single most knowledgeable human Ive ever shopped with regarding the questions I asked. Did he seem abrasive? No , but who really cares if he would have, as long as I got accurate answers to properly asked questions. I dont go into these stores for the sake of my sensitive little feelings, I go for products and info about them. Dustin (dude with the Dreads). Every time I go in this store I find him. Every time I leave, it is with what I went looking for. Thank You Dustin.

They deserve no stars. They will tell you what ever to get you to go away. Go there if you want, but dont expect them to be friendly or offer good customer service. The guy with long filthy hair was rude to my kid, and gave him advice that would have destroyed a $500 dollar piece of equipment if he had actually taken the advice. Took my son to Sleeth and they fixed him right up, no problem. Worst hobby shop Ive ever been too. They had no customers yet refused to help him. every time I have gone there they act like your putting them out if you ask any thing. Never again. Never. Since they offer no customer service or wrong customer service your better off just using ebay and saving money. A lot of money, because their prices are rediculous too.

The guy with the dread locks is a complete ass he made me feel like he couldnt keep his eyes off of me jerked a part that he handed me out of my hand and said if your still going to shop I have to take this to the front desk you cant carry it through the store. Im 53 Years old and well dressed it was completely uncalled for I will drive all the way across town to give my business to sleeth hobbies. Im very easy to get along with and have been in retail sales for 35 years and this was a very bad experience

Not only does this store have everything I usually need product wise, but knowledgeable employees as well. I went in their old store years back on Glenstone and met a salesman who helped me get into the R/C hobby by answering my questions honestly and without trying to just sell me something. Its nice to not feel pressure when you are just testing the waters on a new past time. Now having kids I get to continue visiting the store and catch up with Dustin. Good people. Thanks for everything

Very nice and well organized store with a nice variety of RC and model supplies. Love the child learning section. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They will even help you out over the phone without having purchased anythingdirectly from this store. Dustin is great. Helped repair our plane and made some very useful suggestions. He is very patient as well. We have hobby stores closer but will drive the extra distance to shop here.

Great products, horrible customer service. I dont know much about the specific hobby that I am interested in l, so I would expect them to be friendly and patient with me and willing to explain to me what the best thing is to do or buy. When I ask them things I usually get the look like, Im an idiot and i shouldnt even be in the store. I really dont like that. Ive spent over $1500 at this store and never have felt welcome.

Stopped by here to get some model paint I could not find in any other stores. The staff was very friendly and helpful with finding the specific paint color I was looking for. They have lots of cool things here that I have not seen in any other stores. Im planning to come back to buy some unique toys here for my kids (and hopefully for myself).

I walked in the store and no one greeted me! I looked around for a while and workers just walked past me! I had money to spend and could get help! They were too busy talking amongst themselves! Or maybe because I am black and they dont serve black people? They will never get my money!

i ordered parts from Hobbytown in { springfield mo} on monday the 24th.i had to pay up front..but the thing is i call Hobbytown thru. the 27th to be told that my parts was never ordered.now i am fighting with them to give my money back.i will never go back to Hobbytown in

Everything is way over priced compared to what you can get shipped to your door off of the internet. Theres only one staff member I like talking to named Dustin. Ill only shop here if in need of an emergency spare part. Besides that, expect to pay top dollar.
