I believe that the most important thing when it comes to tattoos is 1) the rapport of the artist and their willingness to work with you and provide insight and honesty in a respectful manner. you may go in wanting something that you think is totally awesome and original but it takes a true artist to tell you "well 50% of the population has that.. but let me talk some ideas over with you" this is a shop where they value their reputation and talent over the money they can bring in, an absolute rarity in tattoo shops nowadays. I have a few bad tattoos (thank god they have laser removal!) from artists that Ive had before from other shops, and I kick myself every day that I didnt do the research or have the knowledge I have now about how important your relationship with your artist is (after all, theyre putting something on you FOREVER. something you will show off and be proud of FOREVER. isnt it important that they be professional in their approach with you? if you answered no, please dont ever get a tattoo anywhere.) 2) The talent of this shop is phenomenal. there are artists out there who actually are nice but their talent is not up to par. not even close. but the artists at Northeast Tattoo (shout out to the newest member Sam Iam Dunn) are breathtakingly talented. you can tell they take pride in their work without even seeing anything theyve done yet. when you walk into the shop and see how beautiful and zen it is, you know you are in the company of people who take pride in their work. people who will work hard to turn peoples heads (in a GOOD way). I cant help but gush about this shop, hunting for the right tattoo artist and a respectable shop is hard and often times you are met with people who dont care about YOUR wellbeing and they care only about the money they will get from you. too many artists couldnt care less that youll be walking out of the shop with something that is embarrassing to you, something that people will look at and go "ohhh.." in a bad way. you will NEVER experience an experience like that if you receive work from the people at Northeast Tattoo. I strongly recommend Sam Dunn, he is beyond talented and I would happily follow him around the world to be blessed with his artwork. Please, please, please check this shop out before you go anywhere else. Then go to a couple other shops and see how TERRIBLE they are compared to Northeast. But always return for your work to be done at northeast, or to have the "professional work" of some other shop who RUINED your design removed with their laser removal. what could be better than a shop like this? they can fix your subpar tattoo AND give you one that will make everyone say "WHERE did you get that done? WHO did that? WOW" turn your "ohhhh..."s into "WOW!"s at Northeast. youll be in love and want to shout it on top of a mountain like me (: 10 out of 5 stars for this place.

I had my first experience with NE Tattoo when Sam was still working there (last Spring). The shop was very professional, and he did great work. We were working on a full sleeve, so I had several sessions booked over the course of a few months. When I called to cancel my last appointment with Sam a couple of months ago, I was told he no longer worked there, and they didnt know where he went. I didnt know Sams last name so I couldnt search for him. Having no reason to distrust this place, I went back to NE Tattoo and went with another artist (Spencer Hodgson). We agreed on a design for my back, to go along with a piece I already had. Spencer is a really good artist and the work was what we agreed on; however, over the first few days following the work he did, it appealed to me less and less. It just didnt work with what I already have on my back. I decided to have it removed and went to a laser clinic in my neighborhood. While at the shop, I learned that Sam Dunn is indeed still working in the metro area (Holy Mackerel Tattoo), AND the staff at NE Tattoo knew this all along! So now Im not only stuck with a piece I dont want, but also with the added expense of having it removed. I have no gripes with Spencer; its the employees who lied to my face about not knowing where Sam went. ALL OF THIS could have been avoided if they were honest. Apparently that was too much to ask.

I had an appointment set for noon to get a small wrist tattoo. When I got there the receptionist told me my artist, Teddy, was about to eat lunch and would be with me in a bit ... okay(?), so much for my appointment. While I was waiting she printed off two different font options of my tattoo and asked which I preferred. I told her I didnt like the first one but liked the second one. I went to sit down to wait again.. after waiting 40 MINUTES (with no updates from them about how long it would take, or questions about what I wanted) I went up to the counter to ask if it was going to be much longer, the receptionist said he was almost done with a drawing. After about 10 minutes more, (seriously, this was the worlds smallest tattoo, how long could it really take) I went up again saying I had somewhere to be soon. FINALLY Teddy came to the window with an outline of the tattoo I said I did NOT want -- what?! After a few more minutes dealing with him (he was very unprofessional) I decided to leave. An hour wasted and no tattoo :(. I went to The Holy Mackerel instead, had an AWESOME, professional, and fun experience and now have a sweet tattoo! I only give it one star because there was another employee there (shout out to the guy whos an avid fan of cooking shows) who was pleasant and talked to us while we waited.

The atmosphere at NE is relaxed, fun, and safe. The staff makes you feel welcome and they treat you with respect. Aleks has done a fantastic job of decorating and has made it bright and inviting. The stations are clean and organized, you can tell that it is a safe place to get tattooed. I went to NE Tattoo to get my first tattoo done by Brian. I got a beautiful chickadee and pansy piece on my left rib cage. Now, this is supposedly the worst spot to get tattooed, especially for your first one! Knowing this going in I was expecting the worst but as Brian started he went slow and made sure I was comfortable. Yes, it hurt a ton but Brian made it bearable and we took a couple of breaks whenever I needed them. He was fantastic and did the most AMAZING job! I could not have asked for a better piece of permanent art on my body. I have also had a piercing done here. It was done by Mary who is a wonderful person. She is outgoing, personable and makes you feel comfortable when getting something pierced. She is very knowledgeable about her craft and can answer any questions that you have for her. All around, this shop is one of a kind and the only place I will get my tattoos or piercings. Everyone should check it out!!
