Yes there are some rude people check in staff out at this Costco, I understand why they can be jaded though as this store has always been packed with people Saturday Sunday and Weekday nights. When you are checking membership cards daily it gets to be demanding to always look happy when dealing with all sorts of people with membership cards out and wanting to shop. When you have one or more that dont have membership it throws the greeters off so they will tend to not handle this as some customers might want. If you were in there shoes waiting just inside the warehouse door for 6 to 8 hours a day dealing with all sorts of customers members and non-members just trying to go inside its the revolving door syndrome. People get tired and they have there off days so they tend to take it out on staff and they seem to be rude with people. These greeters are people also if you treat them as you would want to be treated most employees will also treat you as you treated them. If you are rude, they will be rude. If you are polite they will be polite. Just use some common sense and you can see that most if not all these employees enjoy doing there job there at Costco Maplewood. These employees are exceptional when compared to other warehouse clubs. I myself would love to work there. I myself have been there at least 3 or 4 times a week just to eat there and shop and everyone there is doing an exceptional job there as it pertains to customer service. Costco doesnt make much on every item they sell they make it on annual membership dues over a billion dollars annually. If customers find the shopping experience terrible then they wouldnt renew there membership. I myself if I had a bad experience there would just bring it to the managers attention or just call customer service up on the 1-800 number Costco does care about the customer they will respond to a customer complaint. Posting a complaint on a website is not where this should happen. Bring it to the attention of somebody who works at the store. Im more than happy with all Costco employees from all the stores in the USA. If they werent doing there jobs this company that relies on customer service every single day for the repeat business wouldnt still be operating. Its a telling story that a small single store would grow into a national chain worth Billions of dollars. Its not the products that sell a store its the employees that makes or breaks the store. Costco stores are just buildings without the staff, so please understand if you do have a complaint bring it to the attention of staff and they will make the changes accordingly. I do so LOVE this store.

We got our Costco membership because my wife works for 3M and they offer a slight break on the price for employees. We are in our second year of membership but I doubt we will be coming back for a third. When we first joined it was kind of fun. They offered a nice selection of quality products you couldnt find anywhere else. The people who worked there were nice and helpful. It seemed worth the hassle (more on that later). Now 3 out of 4 of the items we kept coming back for are gone and have not been replaced with something comparable. The selection of items is of good quality but boring. They dont really carry anything you cant find in more variety anywhere else. The employees dont seem nearly as nice and I dread going shopping there. But I feel like I should suck it up and go anyway because we are paying for a membership. This brings us to what I like to call "The Hassle". First is the positively Saharan parking lot that you will have to find somewhere to park in and then transverse (better wear your boogie shoes cause those beamers dont stop for anyone). Next they have these "guards" when you enter and leave. I dont know if I did something to piss them off or if they treat everyone like this but I kind of hunch my shoulders when I go through because I keep expecting to get smacked on the back of my head with a yardstick (anyone who went to a Catholic school will know what I mean). Then comes the jam packed aisles and mile long checkout lanes filled to the brim with retirees who will RUN YOUR ASS DOWN for their free chunk of burrito or giant bag of Skittles. Really the best deals are the one-off deliveries of items they get all the time but in order to take advantage of this you have to visit often and between the parking lot pilgrimage, the dragon ladies guarding the gates and the general danger to life and limb (and sanity) its just not worth it. The gas station and liquor store are still a pretty good deal but given the 40 mile round trip for us...Ill pass. Thanks and I hope this helps you make up your mind.

Let me start by saying that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Costco! They are amazing to their employees, the returns policy and customer service is phenomenal, the product selection is second to none plus they treat their employees extremely well. I have nothing negative to say in any way about Costco as a company as they are my favorite business and the one I support most. My experience with this Costco however and the assistant manager Dave was less than ideal. Each year my family takes an RV trip and year after year from coastal CA to WI Costco has allowed us to spend a night in their parking lot so our family had a safe place to get some rest. I would call it "free" but after 75 gallons of fuel and stocking up on supplies it is normally a $200-$250 experience and something I have always seen as mutually beneficial. I always ask permission first along with any instructions on where they would like me parked. This was the same situation, I asked for permission and parked at the rear of the lot where other semis were sleeping until Costco reopened in the morning. My family was however abruptly awoken by Dave informing us there was no over night parking allowed (with the exception of semis maybe). I would have been fine with this had I not gotten permission in advance. If the store assistant manager isnt informed enough to know whats going on in his own store I think theres an issue. I have never had an issue at a Walmart but would much rather give my money to Costco. This was a disappointing experience and the first time Ive encountered it in the 100s of nights I have spent on the road. I hope this store manages to gather some better communication and decide if letting me park there for 10 hours is worth the $250 sale.

On Sunday, March 2 about 1:15 pm I went to Costco, Maplewood with my grandson, While my grandson parked the car I went into the store and got ready to use a handicapped cart that was not in use. The male employee that was checking the member cards at the door stopped me from using the handicapped cart. He said you can NOT use that cart it is charging. He was rude and disrespectful. When I asked him how long it had been charging he ignored me. I sat on the cart seat to wait for my grandson, the employee walked back up to me and said I told you that cart is NOT charged. I told him I would wait, for the cart, most carts do not take long to charge. I walked into the main store, the employee did NOT ask for my membership card. My grandson came in from the parking lot and another customer came in got on the cart and started to leave. The employee did not stop him so I told the other customer the cart was mine I was waiting for it to charge. The other customer got very upset. I can understand how he felt, the cart was FULLY charged. The other customer did let me use the cart. I went back up to the employee and asked him why he let the other customer take the cart, the employee "Bill" said "IT IS NOT MY JOB TO HAND OUT CARTS." I have been a member for several years and am considering canceling it.
