Purchased a Wagner 590 airless paint sprayer. When unboxing it at home, found the sprayer was USED and sold as NEW. Paint remnants were on the blower as well as the paint bowl. Various accessory parts were loose in the case as well. The document envelope had been opened, the test spray paper missing. Took the sprayer back to the return desk as the store. They asked if I wanted to exchange it or my money back. I opted for an exchange. The returns associate said there were 5 in stock. Went back to the paint department and only found 1 on the shelf. Asked the paint associate about what was in stock and she then said there was only one. Looked at the one on the shelf and that one had blue masking tape on the handle area of the packaging. Opened the case and found that sprayer had also been used. Paint on the various parts and loose accessories. Went back to the returns desk and asked to speak with the department manager. He opened up the case of the sprayer I returned to verify it had been used. Told him of the 2nd sprayer on the shelf that had also been used. Most likely some customer had used these sprayers then returned them. Menards did nothing to check the boxes after they were returned. Department manager was not at all surprised at the finding. The store did refund my money, but I made two trips to the store to purchase a NEW sprayer, only to find I had purchased a USED sprayer being sold as NEW. I try to purchase local, even if the price is higher. Menards price was $129. The same sprayer is on Amazon for $114 and free shipping. Department manger was not at all concerned about the problem. He did apologize for the problem, but that did not help the waste of time I had scheduled for my painting project. Menards should be inspecting returns, not simply putting them back on the shelf. I probably should have asked for the store manager. I am not at all confident he/she is even aware of these types of problems. Would have rated the store with one star, but the sprayer was easy to return. There were about 5 ahead of me in the return line. Maybe Menards has so many returns they dont have the manpower to check the returns before restocking them.

Today I was at menards buying some lumber and I noticed a lot of tension from yard employees. I have had good experiences with a few of them, especially the garden center yard employees and the warehouse employees. There are 2 reasons why I gave Menards 1 star. The first is that the contractors that shop there are just rude and unpleasant to the employees, especially the employees that are in the yard. Like today, I was in the garden center and I wanted to ask one of the employees for help but he was busy getting a pallet of block for this contractor who was standing out by his truck talking on the phone. While the employee is lifting block from 1 pallet to another. It is a self service yard help the guys who work out there with your purchase!! The second are a few managers who think it is okay to talk down on employees who are working hard. I was out in the lumber yard and looking for the lumber I needed. A manager came out and started telling the employee how to do his job. I have seen the employee there for a few years now. I am pretty sure he knows what he is doing. I also find this one manager on his phone all the time. I dont know his name but possibly could be a general manager at the store.

Special order storm door to be picked up at Burnsville store. Received email that door was ready to be picked up. Went to yard and was directed by security to proper customer receiving door. Waited for a human for a few minutes then started looking myself. Couldnt find door. Finally found a young man and he started looking. There was obviously no meaningful organization to the items for customer pick-up. After twenty minutes of looking through row after row of merchandise we stumbled on the door. What a way to run a business. If the store was not so well stocked and the selection of merchandise was not so vast I would go somewhere else. I call this place the Walmart of home do it yourself stores. By the way that is NOT a complement. Like Walmart, if your looking for anything that resembles customer service, forget about it.

We went in to have them give us a guideline for plans on a new deck. They use their very outdated kiosk. Outdated software that does not include new codes for the area. After the first trip we left with guideline plans that we can take to the city for a permit. This was missing quite a few codes for Shakopee that ended up almost digging in the wrong area. The guideline does miss a lot of things...not guaranteed directions on certain material...the Deck plan packet is horrible too. Any extra materials that was left out we purchased at Home Depot. Where we shouldve started at in the first place. You get what you pay for. Go to Home Depot in Shakopee and ask for Jon! That guy helped us through the smog of Menards.

Just had the most HELPFUL, Pleasant, customer service young man by the name of Ian help me try to secure Glow Candles that your store may of had. He physically went to 3 or 4 different locations seeking out these candles, NOT placing me on hold, but keeping me updated as to where they may have been placed. Unfortunately, they must of been sold, by my experience with Ian this gives me joy to know that in this fast paced, I want this Now society, I can go to my local retail store Menards, and still receive 1ST CLASS SERVICE, Ian is a employee that you want to celebrate in your company, he leads customer service and actually states, "I aim to please."

I dislike writing bad reviews especially towards places in which I shop at the most; I will not TOLERATE any MISCONDUCT! Last week as I shopped at this Menards with my 6 year old my son and I witnessed how this employee (name tag read Matt) was arguing, screaming, and swearing at his manager. I spend more then a few hours talking to my son about this matter for he had many question of why this Matt employee was being so disrespectful at his work. Bottom line you guys need to get rid of this guy! I will not shop at Menards especially at this location with employees like him!

Terrible customer service. I had located the fuel canister that I needed for a nail gun online which said the store had it. I could not find it after looking for about 10 minutes. Matt in the power tools area acted as if it was a task that I asked for his assistance finding the fuel canister for a nail gun. He got up and walked down the isle, looked at different screws and nails (not a fuel canister) and then proceeded to say "guess we dont have them" and then just walked away. I later found the fuel canister in a different isle. Will be taking my business elsewhere.
