During the sales process, I was assured that Art Van now owned World of Floors and that the installers were Art Van employees. I ordered hard wood flooring the end of March and the installation date was set for mid April. I was told that the flooring would arrive ahead of the installation in order to allow the wood to acclimate to the home temperature. During the entire 3 week period I was never called to verify the delivery and installation dates. While at work, I received a call from the delivery person apologizing that he was running an hour late. Well that was good since I had no idea he was coming and was 45 minutes away. When they arrived, I asked to confirm the installation date. They had no idea; their job was solely delivery. My recollection was that the installation date was the next day. I took off the day from work. I began calling at 8 am, to confirm an installation time and no one could answer that question--not at Art Van Flooring , not the store, not customer service. I left messages where there was no human. I finally received a call from Clyde, (a salesman who explained that he was the manager and had no supervisor, but admitted his last name was not Van Elslander) explaining that he doesnt arrive until 1pm, and that the installation date was actually the next day. I have now wasted an entire day not at work, restructed my home to move furniture, and realized that I have an appointment on the scheduled installation date. The best the customer service manager Larry (if thats really what his position is) can do is to start tomorrow and finish up the next day or the day after that...Everyone gets what they want except me--the customer! This sounds like pretty poor customer service when Art Van gets paid and the customer gets inconvenienced for 3 days. Dont order seafood from a steak house, DONT BUY FLOORING FROM A FURNITURE STORE!

Is zero stars an option? Our last 2 purchases from Art Van have been nightmares. 1. Our King Size bed was delivered with Queen size slats. Does Art Van take our word for it? No. We have to wait days for a technician to verify what we already knew. And were the correct slats delivered? No. We had to go ourselves out to the warehouse for pickup. 2. In early April I purchased 3 bar stools. They were to be delivered by the end of April. After not hearing anything, I called my salesman Scott Cressy. He apologized and said they were not going to be delivered until May. I called yesterday to confirm delivery this month. Lo and behold my order was mysteriously dropped from the system. No one notified me. Had i not called months would have gone by while they sat on my money. I was notified that my purchased stools would not be coming in. Ever. But how about $50 store credit for the inconvenience. Great, maybe I can buy a throw pillow. Art Van certainly doesnt care, but as a Mom of 2 kids under 3, it was a big event to have someone watch my girls so I could go out for the day and purchase bar stools. What a disappointment.

My husband and I recently bought several pieces from Art Van on Woodward Ave in Royal Oak. I liked the service here - unlike other stores we had visited, the sales people werent right on our heels as we walked around. They kept their distance, but were available when we had questions. Shirley and Dean (our sales reps) were so helpful! They were respectful of our budget and tastes. They also didnt give up on us! There was a huge selection and it took us awhile to find exactly what we wanted. They were patient with us through the whole process, listening to us and offering suggestions. We will need more furniture for our new house and I will definitely go back to this location and look up Shirley and Dean!

I went to this art van today with my husband. As we walked around, no one said anything to us but one guy! I had one caucasian guy stare us down like we were dirt and he followed us around like we were going to stuff a couch in my purse, He spoke to every other couple but us, which I felt very bad because when put in these types of situations, when you bump into a really nice sales person, you still dont want to buy from there. Soooooo, ill take my purchase somewhere else =) thanks art van sales person with bad judgement
