Ive been into Breakaway pretty regularly over the past few years. And Ive also checked into other shops in the area from time to time. I find Breakaway to be consistently better than the other shops with regard to product selection, but also with regard to customer service. The employees at Breakaway are not on commission, and they genuinely want to help you find the perfect bike. They dont pressure you into buying something you cant afford, and they treat everyone with respect. People new to cycling are welcomed and not "talked down" to. Women are treated with respect and dignity, unlike some other shops in the area. The mechanics are super knowledgeable, too. Theyve got a ton of experience, and most of them have been working there for many years. The low turnaround is a sign that Breakaway takes care of its employees, and that they take care of their customers. The previous review might have been an employee having a bad day, Im not sure. But based on my fairly extensive and regular experiences in Breakaway and in other shops in the area, I completely disagree. Breakaway has the best bikes and the best people in the area, hands-down.

Not very good service. Went to the store planning to spend roughly $1000 on a nice road bike. They were fairly busy so I patiently waited while the sales staff helped other people. There were several occasions in which a salesperson passed me and did not even acknowledge my presence, a "be with you in a minute" would have been nice. The straw that broke the camels back was the sales guys who just completed a sale, had seen me patiently waiting, and after the customers he dealt with left he headed to the back of the store never saying a word to me. I waited for about 5 more minutes, he never came back, I left. I was in the store for 25 minutes total and not a single staff member said a word to me. When I am about to spend $1000 on a BIKE I expect much more.

This is one of the best shops in the area. They spend a great deal of time setting each bike up correctly as it is shipped in with additional checks before it goes out with the customer. They have the best wheel builder in the area on staff- Richard Neuman. All of their mechanics take pride in their work and are some of the best in the business. Its a big shop and they do get busy- especially on the weekends, but they always do their best to get to everyone. I have been going there for about 14 years now and I believe they deserve my business.

Exceptional customer service. I purchased a kona cinder cone a year ago. The customer service is the best in kalamazoo! Ryan was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Any time i go in for service the staff helps bring your bike in or back to your car for you. Anytime i have a question or need service the staff at both locations are very kind, friendly and helpful. I recently purchased new road bike shoes. Tim took as much time needed to find a good fit for me. I recommend Pedal for anyone looking for bikes and exceptional service!

Not pleased with the store or service...their prices are high, but Im sure that relates to their product as well. I was more disappointed with the service than anything. It was my first time in the store, went in with my son and daughter. I must have walked around for 10 minutes, looking to make eye contact with an employee who would help but all of them just walked by. After 10 minutes of no service or no recognition that I was there, I just left. With those prices, I expect some level of service.

I had a wonderful experience here. The staff is very friendly and knows a lot about the bikes and accessories. I purchased a pair of bike shorts and a new helmet. I am very pleased with the fit and quality of both items. Riding the week long tours both in Michigan and Iowa, I simply must have good equipment. I am also excited about the special event for women 4/30/16 which includes bike tour, some bike training and yoga. Tim Krone and his staff are great.

Richard was able to quickly identify an issue with my nordic ski binding and not only fixed it on the spot, but showed me what I needed to do if it happens again on the trail. Just wanted to express my thanks for their service. For those who dont skate ski, this is the best place in the Kalamazoo area to get geared up so stop by and learn more about it. Also have had my bike tuned up here and can attest that they do excellent work at a reasonable price.

Jeff K was a very helpful and amazing salesman! Walked me thru the different type of hybrids and ultimately helped me make my decision! Amazing place to deal with!! Took a little longer to get my bike than originally planned, but definitely not Pedals issue, manufacturer! Made it all an amazing smooth process! Would completely recommend, even if youve done your research online...you didnt learn everything you can till you stop by! Worth it!!

All around excellent experience shopping at Breakaway. They had the exact bike I was looking for in my size and let me ride it around the parking lot. Tim and Liz were extremely helpful and answered all my questions and offered many helpful tips for taking care of the bike and riding. I even got a 15% discount on a helmet for my purchase. Will definitely return and highly recommend this place!

Breakaway has the best mechanics in town.. hands down. They are very knowledgeable and they work hard to get the job done right the first time. Although I was not there to purchase a new bike, I started talking to a salesman, and it seemed like he knew a great amount of detail about most of their products (and there are a lot of them!)

I previously gave Breakaway a bad review due to the prices being high and to rude employees. I dont feel like the place deserves a 1 star rating, however, so Ive replaced my review. My experiences since have been great and while their prices are definitely high, I cant be happier with the service Ive received.

Our son bought a brand new Trek "Mountain" bike for trail riding. (with his own money) First time out... the bike is two days old... both rims are bent! Had to be replaced at a cost of $75 ($90 regular price) Really? A $350. bike? What a piece of junk. Watch out!

This place has a pretty good selection of premium/high price bikes but also some good intermediate bikes. Nice location near a good trail to test ride bikes on and theyll give you a good helmet to borrow. Didnt end up buying from them but I did enjoy shopping there
