Purchased my Cannondale cross bike here 3 years ago. The sales and service staff were / are friendly and knowledgeable (Mason, Ted, Steve...etc). I genuinely like all of them. Have purchased all of my bikes and related gear from them for years. It was always nice knowing they were close and I could stop in anytime and have the service teams make quick adjustments as needed. Now, heres why Im giving 2 stars....One of the big reasons I purchased my bike at ABS was because they offered free life time tune-ups when you purchased your bike there. It was a great incentive to get my bike tuned up each season and again, was a big factor in my decision to purchase. That said, I stopped in last night because I was having a problem with my gears. The mechanic was great and solved my problem in short order. However, when I asked about doing my seasonal tune up, I was informed that the store is under new ownership (new owner also owns GR Bicycle Shop) and the new owner decided he was loosing too much money ($70K per year) by sticking with the lifetime tune up policy. Because of this, he decided to eliminate the free lifetime tune up and instead offer a "preferred" price of $45. I understand implementing this policy of no free tune ups for new purchases, but not grandfathering it for previous purchasers unacceptable. If the almighty dollar is more important than honoring a long-standing commitment to the customers of the shop, then this isnt the kind of ownership I want to do business with. Who knows, maybe they are big enough now that they dont care if they loose customers as a result of the new policy? I do know this, by not grandfathering my $45 tune-up (which probably costs him $25), he just lost out on my $500-$1000 per year of related purchases....plus the shot at supplying my new 29, which Im picking up for the Ice Man this November. Bottom line....from this point forward, the crew at Village Bike Shop in Cascade will have all of my business.

I went to the shop on Fulton, and my experience was terrible. I had them order a new tube for my bike, since it was a special order size. They called about a week later, as promised, to tell me it had came in. Great. I go over there only to find out it was still at the Ada shop. They tell me to come in the next day and itll be there. I do just that, and its still not there. After nearly two weeks of this back-and-forth crap of them saying itll be in, they say theres no set schedule of when they get stuff from the shop in Ada. They even called over there a couple times to make sure it was in and request it get sent over. Frustrated, I take a slightly different size off the shelf that will work. But I couldnt walk out the door until I helped the cashier do elementary math to get me the correct partial refund (the tube I took was a lesser price than the one ordered)... that was a painful experience. I get home and install the new tube and let the bike sit overnight. I come out the next day to find it flat! Great, a brand new tube out of the box, and it has a slow leak. I didnt even bother taking it back; I dont want to have anything more to do with them. This place is a joke.

Great bike shop with some of the best mechanics in town. Im picky about my bike(s) and have brought in bikes several times until dialed in. I love that most of the bikes and staff sell purpose-driven machines - Theyll set you up on something (or talk to you about everything else in the shop) that fits the purpose youre riding for rather than what has the best profit margin or what theyre trying to move. Ill admit, I was a little let-down when the purchase of Ada Bike shop to Grand Rapids Bicycle ridded the lifetime free tune ups, although, In my experience when everyone got free tune ups, the waiting time was less than ideal. We still get preferred pricing, and now we get more brands and more locations to choose from with the merger. Still my go-to for most bike-related purchases.

The majority of the crew here rolled over spring/summer of 2016, being replaced by staff from the Ada location. I prefer to do my own mechanic work, but when I get stuck I bring it in to the mechanics here as I trust them to do good, honest work based on personal experience and reviews from friends. Theyll often do quick repairs on the fly while recommending a coffee or deli sandwich from next door. The best part is that theres always plenty of parking; they all ride to work.

Very knowledgeable, personal and always treat me as an individual. Never pressure to buy a new bike and very happy to work with keeping an old bike going well. Theyve done several repairs for me way below cost just out of good will.

I bought 2 bikes here when they were known as Ada Bike. The core staff hasnt changed much, though, and the service/advice is still excellent. They wont pressure you to buy more bike/accessories than you need or want.

Great service and location but not a single late night opened. The shop in Ada stays open until 8pm some nights. How about JUST ONE LATE HOUR DAY?

I have bought several bikes from Grand Rapids Bicycle Co and all the times have been great. GRBC also gives back to the cycling community as well
