My family and I are very happy with Pedal. Our first experience was shopping for a MTB for my wife. Since she is very short none of the local stores carried her size, they all offered to order one for her but Pedal was the only one that didnt require a commitment to buy - quite a surprise since they were the smaller and newer store. My wife has been riding that bike for the last 2-3 years. Their service is top notch. they work with you to understand your needs and budget. At one time I had a major mechanical issue with my top-tier rear derailleur and chain - they recommended a lower tier (same brand) that saved me big $$ and I havent been able to tell the difference in performance. they recently helped me with a roof cargo box and got the manufacturer to cover the damage, outside of warranty. They are very friendly , not pushy and want to understand your riding needs and budget. they work with you and in the rare case when something goes wrong they readily take care of it - like a rubbing disc brake that took a couple tries and required a creative position to ensure it surfaced. Tim creates a great atmosphere in his store that permeates to his team. Pedal is also very active in the community, sponsoring races and events.

I have to say that admittedly I have not had the pleasure to stop in but I wanted to take a minute to write about this incredible shop. My son is a special needs adult and he took another member of his AFC home to this shop to have a bike looked at due to a broken chain and gear issues. The bikes owner has special needs as well. He is elderly, very shy, has trouble communicating and his bike is his life. Because of their special needs, neither is able to work so money is an issue and both are prone to being taken advantage of. PEDALS took great care to make both of these guys feel special replacing the chain and giving the bike a basic tune-up for $5. I cant tell you how excited my son was when he told me what happened. The staff made both of these guys feel like they were very special to the them. Way to go PEDALS when you thought no one was looking. Support this business folks, they live incredible customer service and have shown their heart for our community. And the repair? 1st class as well. God bless you guys!

Edited: I brought an old mountain bike by the shop today, and asked the guys there to take a look and see if there was anything they could do. They fixed it splendidly, thats why I cant rate it one star. However, they did this without asking me if they could and without a quote. I dont know how it works usually but whenever I get repairs done Im usually quoted. Well, since they did the work already and they did a good job, I paid, but Im very sour about this experience. I was not prepared for an expense, and Im a bicyclist on a budget. I may return but not for a while. Edit: After a phone call from the owner, I can Safely say Im very pleased with the service Ive received. He offered to refund what I paid, and though I said Id split the cost (since they did indeed fix the bike perfectly) he told me hed feel better if he could refund the whole amount. You dont find the kind of service many places, and I can now say I will definitely be back. Thanks Tim!

First off the place is in downtown AND has great parking, a combination you dont find often in Kalamazoo. The owner of the store (I believe anyway) Tim, is a very nice guy to work with, he is incredibly knowledgeable, his prices are fair, his stock is similar to Alfred E. Bike as far as the number of bikes in the store. I liked the store and I liked the owner, what more can you ask for. I had to add to this review because a week ago I took my bike in to Tim, keep in mind the only thing Ive ever purchased at this store is a jersey. I was having trouble with my bike computer. Tim diagnosed, found that it was a problem with the cadence sensor and replaced it for me under the factory warranty. Unbelievable. I guarantee that the next bike and every bike item I purchase from this moment on will be from this shop.

This is a great local shop for not just bikes but also clothing, supplies, repairs, etc. I took my bike there to get repaired and they were able to quickly fix it in their very own repair shop in the store. This was very nice to see because some places will either send the bike off somewhere or have a different location for repairs, here you can see them fixing bikes and what their repair shop looks like first-hand. The people working there were very knowledgeable and best of all honest. Even when I thought my bike needed another repair the person told me it only needs one repair and saved me some money that I could have wasted had they not told me. Overall a very nice local shop that has many bike related things and can fix just about any bike issue.

Pedal has the friendliest, most eager-to-help service of any bike shop Ive been to. I love the fact that theyre there to help direct you toward the product thats best for your needs rather than attempting to oversell you on something more high-end than what you need. Their service work is priced fair, but more important than that is the fact that its done right and done right the first time. If its little things that make a difference, like a friendly greeting, thanking you for your patience when theyre busy, thanking you for your business, anticipating a need & making a suggestion, and showing you how to properly use a product, Pedal does the little things consistently and it makes a huge difference compared to other area shops.

I was in need of a bike rack and went into Pedal. They provided me some options and explained the pros and cons of each. I told them when I need the rack as we were leaving for vacation - they ordered the bike rack and the wrong rack was sent to the store, so they ordered another one and ensured it would arrive before I needed it. It arrived and the owner asked if I would like it installed - why, of course! The rack is exactly what we needed (fits 4 bikes and comes on and off very easily). The staff at the store is knowledgeable, friendly and super helpful. A wonderful bike shop who understands customer service.

There are a few good shops in the area but this is the one I recommend to anyone who is just starting in the sport. Regardless of who helps you in the store- they are all friendly and helpful. There is no condescending attitude if you have questions. You dont have to spend thousands of dollars there for them to smile when you walk in. You dont have to be a racer to be treated with respect. They ask you questions about what your needs are and provide helpful advice. These are good people who love to help others. Dan Cole
