Prior to the Livonia store opening, I had known very little about the Menards chain. While there already were existing locations in the middle and western parts of Michigan, there never was one close by, until now. My father and me went here a while ago, out on curiousity of what we would find there. After leaving the store, I definitely think this place could trump The Home Depot store nearby. They have a very big outdoor lumber area. Although they are a home improvement store, they also sell groceries, which makes it an added convenience compared to going to other stores. The aisles are wide and easy to navigate. Occassionally, you will hear the Menards jingle play over the loudspeakers. In some places, there is neon signage, which gives this store a bit of a nostalgic relation. There is even a second floor (accessible by elevator) for anyone wanting to see storage sheds. As we went up and down the aisles, I was pleased to see variety in a lot of the specific sections of the store, such as lighting. Like The Home Depot, Menards also distributes their own name-brand items. Everything we saw did not look really cheaply made, although there was dust on some of them for the time that passed while they were on the shelves. As for customer service, there are kiosks set up throughout the store, and they have television sets that display which employee can help out with what service (i.e., carpeting). If I can recall, we were asked for help, which I think is great for the customer and the employee that was trained. We noticed no problems in regards to customer service here, even though it was our first time entering the store. In the end, my father and me were very satisfied with the experience, and we would be glad to come back here sometime in the future to shop!

Dont bother with their Order Pull and Pick Up. Charged me $12.60 to pull and get my order wrong. Menards needs to put an error checking process in place (think scanners) if they want to charge me to pull my order. I ordered four (4) Legrand® TradeMaster® White 3-Way Illuminated Decor Switches as a part of my 9 unique item, 20 total item order. Instead of the four (4) 3-Way Illuminated Decor Switches, I got one of what I ordered and three similar items I did not order [two (2) 1-pole Illuminated Decor Switches and (1) 3-Way Decor Switches (not illuminated)]. They took the three wrong ones back to correct the order and came back with another correct item and another two incorrect items (two (2) 3-Way Decor Switches [not illuminated]) that apparently had the same item number. Finally got my order right on the third try. The staff were nice and apologetic, but that doesnt change the fact that I paid for the order pull and Menards mismanaged. The point of pulling my order in advance was to save time. I ended up at Menards for ~45-50 minutes. Ill just get it myself next time to save time and money. P.S. - Just got home and realized they also got me the wrong air filter size. Label on the air filter with my order is the size I want, not the size of air filter.

I purchase most of my home and garden items at Menards. Today, I was very disappointed. Im a disabled senior and needed help with 6 bags of top soil and a bag of fertilizer, so I asked the cashier if she could have someone from the garden center bring them to the register for me. She said I would have to go to the garden center and ask someone there for assistance. I went to the garden center and saw 2 employees having a conversation, so I asked if they could help me. The young man got a flat bed cart and loaded up my order. The lady that was talking to him asked if I needed help to the register. Considering I was already pushing a regular cart, and my cane was clearly visible. it was a no brainer question. On the way to the register she told me the garden center was a self serve department and no one usually loads /moves material. She also said if the young man wasnt there to help she wouldnt have been able to lift the bags to help me. This is the first time anyone in the garden center pointed out it was self serve. Ive always been helped in the past. Its difficult enough for some of us to ask for help. I found her to be inconsiderate with her comments.

I just wanted to let you know that I will not be shopping in your stores any more. This is due to the fact that I was almost hit by one of your employees on a forklift. This occurred May 17, 2015 around 4:45 at the Menards in Livonia, MI. I was picking up top soil bags from under the shelving unit and the forklift turned the corner and the forks where within inches of hitting my feet. I also noticed that the drive was not wearing any safety type of vest nor did they have a spotter. Two things which they are supposed to have. I do find this incident very disturbing, because not too long ago a shopper in another one of your stores was killed because a forklift driver knocked a pallet on top of someone. I guess this is just normal business practices for you. I did like shopping at Menards over Lowes and Home Depot, however the value on my life is much higher than the money I save shopping at your store.

Spent 30 mins rummaging through the clearance center in barn loading siding in my truck. No on offered to help me. Sign said all siding in clearance bargin section is $2 unless otherwise marked. Nothing had price tags. Menards wouldnt honor the $2 price per piece because they said it was a color they still carry & in clearance by mistake. I was there over an hour trying to get out of there. Yesterday i was menards biggest fan, telling everyone how great it is.....today im no longer a fan and will not be recomending anyone go there. Poor management. Also their inventory system is never right so if computer says 114 that means they might have 3 or zero! Goto wimsatt! They treat people right. The wixom menards is much better, assistance in building department was A+. The inventory issue seems to be the same though.

most always a great experience until last week at the register some one left there slip . I was about to hand it to the cashier when she rudely ripped it from my hand and said that would be stealing. not realizing it was 11"% days is that what you teach them .if you do not want to run the 11% then do not do it.I was giving here that receipt that was left there .but really what does it matter if another customer took it and used it anyway is it going break that store? really! sincerely a weekly customer
