American Appliance is one of the few local vendors authorized by Jenn Air, and it was with trepidation that I called them the first time because of bad reviews. I was extremely happy with the first repair - a bad switch on my stove. The man who scheduled the appointment was courteous and explained that there was a diagnostic fee for the first visit THAT IS DEDUCTED from the final repair fee if you have them do the repair. The first repair guy was great and recommended that I try to get Jenn Air to honor the part even though it didnt fall under their limited warranty - to my surprise, they did - and I saved $240. When an element went out recently, I still hesitated to call AA in spite of my great experience with them because of the bad reviews...but did...and was equally impressed. I had a different repairman, but he was as good as the first. My stove top had been chipped as well, and we already had the replacement top, thinking we would replace it ourselves, but as luck would have it, the stovetop cracked the day before the repairman was supposed to come to diagnose the element. He decided to charge me for repair of the stovetop - which was $10 more than changing an element - so I got both repairs done under a single charge - that is more than fair! I honestly feel that this company has been unfairly rated by customers more angry about the situation/broken appliance than by the service. I will continue to use them for sure!

Before selling, the previous owner of my condo used this fraud business to fix a leaking dishwasher and left the condo, and the city without testing it. The condo was locked and the keys were with the lawyers for the entire month, until closing. When I moved in a day after my closing, the dishwasher still leaked and was not even in its original position. It was hanging 2 inches from the counter top with 2 metal plates sticking out trying to hold it in its place. The previous owner faxed me 2 bills totaling $350 that this fraud charged, and that they had nothing to do with the dishwasher anymore, I called the "floor manager" Bill immediately and at least 5 times thereafter with the details about the situation. Coincidentally the technician on the service contract also showed as "Bill". Sent him pictures of the ugliness with proof of leakage. Apparently, their works warranty holds good only for 30 days and he is not in the mood to take a look at it unless I payed him $70 to grace me with a visit and review the poor job that this "Bill" has performed. After reviewing it for $70, he will decide how much he would like to charge me to fix the leaking dishwasher and ugliness that is their own work. Will not work with this business again and will also let people in my association know what a big mistake it is to hire this cheat.

Very, very happy with this company. They came quickly, diagnosed the problem, and before ordering the part, called me to ask if I wanted to replace a related part, saving the labor of having to replace it at a later date (soon, by the looks of it). They were careful and courteous, gave advice on how to keep the refrigerator running at its best, and were very reasonable. About a week later, the fridge side stopped working--turned out to be a switch problem, not related to the work theyd done, but they came right out and fixed it immediately. I will call them for everything from now on, and I highly recommend them.

Steve (answers the phone) and Brian (my technician) are wonderful! I cant say enough about how courteous, respectful and efficient they are. They even talked me out of unnecessary repairs. I used to use another service in town, but have made a permanent switch based on my last 2 experiences with American. Id definitely feel fine about leaving a key if theyd consider coming when I couldnt be there. (Not sure if theyd do this, but sharing the idea conveys my trust in them!) Bottom line: NO hesitation!

Do not call this company!!! American is not only unable to fix appliances but insults the customer when there is a complaint. I had the same leak go on for 6 weeks and they could not figure it out - although they came out three times and fixed a different part each time. This ineptitude caused additional damage to my floor. Their answer? "Not our problem", and refused to come out again. I finally had another service come out - the same day I called them - and they fixed it, first time.

Weve been using American Appliance for years. I almost have a good feeling when something breaks because I can call them. Theyre oriented toward fixing if possible, rather than replacing. They frequently find opportunities not to charge you.... for instance if they have to come back because the fridge temp is still not right and they discover that the hidden knob was bumped.

My oven broke and I called on a Saturday for an appt. They fit me in on Monday. The repair guy, Brian, was awesome. It ended up I needed a back ordered part and when it finally came, Brian installed it and my oven is finally working. Super happy with the folks I spoke to on the phone and Brian was great both times he came to the house. Would highly recommend.

Very competent and helpful staff. Not only the guy knew the part number by heart (and had the genuine item in stock), he also lent me a tool for removing the retaining ring. Yes, may be I paid a few bucks more than I would have online (for a generic stuff), but to me its worth it.

We had trouble with our stove, American Appliance showed up the next day and fixed it right the first time! Repairman was very courteous and respectful of our home. Price was much less an anticpated! Id recommend them to anyone in need of repair!

I had problems with both my washer and dryer. They were able to schedule an appointment quickly. The person who came was very knowledgeable and was able to identify and fix the problems promptly.

The grossly overcharge for parts. They ripped me off for more than twice the average internet price for a common part. Gouging is not good business.
