I was so surprised to see a bad review of Gilbert & Cole, I had to write my own review. Ive gone here for several home improvement projects and was always shocked at how good the customer service was. Theyve taken the time to talk with me about the best materials to buy and educated me on the proper way to complete my projects. Each time, Ive gotten better materials than I would have found at a big box store, at a really good price. I was just recently in there several times while rebuilding my deck and Brendan spent time each time I came in, addressing any questions I had and making sure I had the right materials. I cant recommend Gilbert & Cole enough. Ive never had anything less than an excellent experience here.

Ive been slowly DIY finishing my basement over the past months (OK, almost a year) and every time I walk out of the store or hang up the phone with Brendan or Bill I am more confident in the quality and timeliness of the project and typically surprised at the price, which often beats big orange. Ask them to show you around and take particular note of the stack of 2x4s - every one Ive gotten from them (a few hundred total) is dead straight and defect free. Delivery and returns have been as easy as pie. I get quality goods, advice I couldnt get anywhere else, and a thank you for my business. Even if it was far away, Id still use Gilbert and Cole for all of my building projects.

Ive gone to Gilbert and Cole twice thinking Id support my local Hardware Store instead of Home Depot. Both times theyve treated me rudely acting as if I was bothering them by trying to buy their subpar plywood. Ive seen them being generally unhelpful to other customers too. I wont go back there even though its the closest hardware store/lumber yard to my house. The wood I bought at a big chain store was better and cheaper.

these guys are stellar. I think I know what I need but leverage their experience and talk through the design and come to a consensus together. they have great recommendations and know building, not just building materials, but also the application. I wouldnt go anywhere else to save a couple bucks.
