WOMEN BEWARE!! SCAM ARTISTS!! When you read this review, with facts, you will see why AutoNation Chevrolet Timonium not only takes advantage of women, they prey upon those who have no experience buying a car. The facts follow the narrative below. You’ll agree that I am not simply writing for a customer with second thoughts or buyer’s remorse. You will see that if you’re a woman, you should avoid them completely. Would AutoNation treat a man with knowledge of Kelly Blue Book the same way they treat a young, inexperienced female used car buyer? I am not saying that AutoNation practices gender discrimination against women, but I’ll let you answer that question for yourself. I hardly think they would seek to make a man with knowledge of car values into a victim of dishonest and unscrupulous business practices. Specifically, when a young woman goes to AutoNation to buy a used car, the sales staff will sell her a vehicle that is valued far, far less than listed by Kellys Blue Book, and with problems that might have broken Maryland laws by inspecting and passing a vehicle that does NOT meet state inspection brake requirements. AutoNation saw a young woman come into the dealership and with that, saw dollar signs, as they did everything they could to treat her as a victim instead of a customer. Last week, my 18-year-old daughter exhibited "individualism" and bought her first car by herself. She was so proud when she later showed it off to me. I shared in her joy to appease her, while knowing that she was the victim of a scam. I did NOT tell her how she was ripped off by nearly $1,900. That is A LOT of money for a young lady saving her money from a waitress job to attend college. Here’s the story: “Jane” went to AutoNation, was directed to a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer with 122,000 miles. The truck has a driver’s seat that is ripped, torn and damaged that I was not able to sit on it myself. I am not exaggerating. Which tells someone that with 122,000, the 17-year-old truck was used for city driving, but the driving had to be abusive given the level of damage. Second, the passenger door panel is falling off and cannot be used. In order for a passenger to close the door, you must put the window down and pull the door closed by holding it from outside. I’m certain the test drive was done with the windows closed, the A/C on and the radio on. Otherwise she would have heard the brakes squeal loudly when touching the brakes or the grinding of the transmission. HERE IS THE REAL RIP-OFF: Kelly Blue Book lists a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer with 4-wheel drive and a V-6 engine in “good” condition at $3,277. They scammed an 18-year-old inexperienced car buying by getting her to pay $4,700 for the truck. A difference of more than $1,400 from KBB value! They “stole” more than $1,400 from a young woman by using dishonest business practices. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt by saying it is in good condition, even though it isn’t. Regardless, they ripped her off for more than $1,400. This truck was in “fair” condition at best, with a value closer to $1,800. Which means they might have ripped her off for nearly $1,900. They didn’t even offer to put in a seat – not even a used one. Its a Chevy dealership...they should have easy access at little cost. They didn’t offer to fix the door. They didn’t need to replace it, they could have simply fixed it. But they didn’t even do that. There are other problems that one could find with any used vehicle, and this one has its fair share, which comes with buying a used vehicle. Yes, she should have used better judgment by seeking my advice first. But AutoNation should not be in the business of ripping off inexperienced car buyers. A contract is a contract. My 18-year-old daughter bought the truck and now owns it. But if this review saves even one woman (or man, for that matter) from going to AutoNation to buy a used vehicle, then the time spent writing this review was worth it.

I WOULDNT RECOMMEND BUYING A CAR FROM THEM! I will not be referring them or going there again. What Ive learned: AUTONATION WILL NOT GO THE EXTRA MILE NOR RESPECT THE CUSTOMERS NEEDS OR BE AT ALL THOROUGH WITH THE VEHICLES THEY SELL, USED OR OTHERWISE. Heres my story: I traded in my 5 series bmw for a used SUV GL 450, it seemed like a great deal, looked good. I have three boys and really needed the space because they are growing and with sports an all. When getting in the SUV the salesman of course new nothing about the vehicle so Im test driving it like ok whats this? and that?. it felt great I liked that it has space for my kids and its safe. I was a little annoyed by the salesman bc this wasnt a new car and he couldve really cared less. So I bought it, was thinking this was a good deal. BUT They didnt do a good inspection of the vehicle, it had several problems. they didnt even clean the interior when I first got it. I had to tell them to vacuum out the interior and fix the back window insulation. They basically said if it passes inspection we dont care about anything else. within 3 weeks I brought it back three times: it needed new wipers an oil change, I had to put two quarts of oil in it because the oil light came on It needs shocks, Im still waiting for that part to come in, its been two weeks the steering fluid was low which made the suv have this weird winding noise they added that on the second visit the dvd players are not working which they said they wont fix...I call that false advertisement. I called several times to talk with the GM and they never returned my calls. I brought it in to get checked out for the third time because the shocks were so bad and they give me a small loaner Malibu stupid car (mind you I have three big boys with sports) then after three days they ask me to bring back the car. In such frustration, I told them to bring my SUV to me and they can pick up the car and I had to take my BROKEN SUV back because they needed the loaner back! when they dropped my SUV off I asked for the repairs in writting and the saleman said THEY DONT DO THAT beacuse of policy? and they took their malibu back. Im still waiting for them to call me back for when the part will be in to fix the shocks. Ive text and the salesman told me maybe tomorrow...

We love everything about the AutoNation in Timonium!!! Prior to purchasing our 2014 Malibu here, we had purchased a 2012 Malibu from another dealership and the experience was a nightmare. We were worked over by a "typical sleazy dealership" in a big way. We first encountered AutoNation Timonium when it was still under the Fox Automotive name and was just transitioning to AutoNation. All it took was one service appointment for an oil change for us to know we had found a dealership for life!!! Within 1 year of my first oil change, Scott Doyle sold me my 2014 Malibu. He got us out of our nightmare 2012 Malibu and into our 2014 Malibu which we are absolutely in love with. He treated us the way people should be treated and took away the headache we acquired the day we drove off in our old car. He worked with us around our working hours going well above and beyond to not only make the deal happen, but to also make sure it was the most pleasant car buying experience we have ever had. He will sell me my next car when it is time to move on to this one! Back when we started coming to the Timonium AutoNation, our service was always handled by Barry who always knew us when we called. He remembered all of our issues from our old car and had even helped to get some of them fixed. He was right on top of things always making sure service on our new car was pleasant and efficient. Since Barry has left, Jody has handled all of our service needs and he absolutely picked up right where Barry left off. He is always courteous and efficient working with our schedule to make sure we get the service we need when we need it. He makes sure to explain things every step of the way and we feel absolutely confident taking our vehicle to the Timonium AutoNation for all of our service needs. I cant say enough positive things about this dealership and its staff. It truly is the staff that makes the company and I wouldnt trade my salesman or service writers for anything! We are AutoNation Timonium customers for life, and if we have any say in the matter, our children will be customers for life as well!
