I replied to an ad for a car that was listed on Craigslist. I specifically asked if the car had ever been in an accident, and the salesman told me, "No". I went up there with a friend to view the car. I asked my friend to drive the car to give me her opinion of it. The dealership took a copy of her license, as is standard in these situations. After the test drive, I told the salesman that I was interested. I asked to see the Carfax. He seemed resistant to give it to me telling me that he had to pay to get it. And? In the ad on Craigslist, it said FREE Carfax. Finally, he gave me the Carfax, and it turned out that it had a salvage title! The salesman then told me, "It really only had minor damage" It was totaled! He had pictures that showed the front bumper hanging off, busted headlight, gouged rear wheel and big dent in the rear panel. The only repair they had done was replaced the headlight. The whole integrity of the body was compromised because quick fixes were done to repair the rest of the damage. I decided against the purchase, and my friend asked to get her personal information back - the copy they had taken of her license. The owner refused to give it to her. He said he didnt have to. He first stated that regulation dictated that he could keep it on file, but he refused to show her said regulation. He then said that his friend the state trooper told him that was the regulation. His next justification was that it was his privately owned property, and he made up the rules and regulations. Later, he stated that it was federal law. The entire time my friend was talking to him about this she never raised her voice or was rude. The owner, however, continually interjected while she was speaking and asked, "Are you done?" Ultimately, we left, and the owner refused to give my friend back her information but not before he attempted to degrade her by telling her that he was suspect that she couldnt even afford to finance the car. It was I who was looking at the car, not her. She had just done me a favor by driving it to give me her opinion. I have NEVER encountered such unprofessional and rude behavior at a car dealership before and would not even think about purchasing a vehicle from this business.

My advice would be to carefully go over the vehicle yourself and then take it to a mechanic you trust. Initially, they are nice and polite and do disclose the vehicle history and repairs; but Sean does not deliver everything that he claims he will. Ultimately, I made the decision to buy a vehicle from Car Mart, but I wont do so again. If you are from a state other than MD, Id recommend looking elsewhere: I had to go back twice for repairs and ended up spending the entire day there (twice) waiting. They did offer a car so I could go wait at the mall, but I decided to stay to keep an eye on what was going on with my vehicle. My 60 day tags have expired, I have yet to receive my permanent plates from VA DMV. Sean told me that he would take care of the DMV paperwork in Vienna, VA where he lives, but he did not. He also did not submit a tag transfer for the vehicle I traded in, which he said he would. Finally, he mailed the paperwork to Richmond (which has a 30 day turnaround that all dealers are aware of) just 10 days prior to the temp tags expiring. This does not even include items that I was told were repaired but werent and items that I had to repair/replace myself- yes, I know that it is not a new car but these are items that should have been taken care of by the dealer. Overall, just a frustrating experience. Other reviewers are correct- if you disagree with Sean or fail to follow his suggestions he gets confrontational quickly. Save yourself the headaches, learn from my mistake.

I purchased a 2006 bmw 325i from carmart in march 2014. The price was about 2000 under bluebook value. I was in a hurry to buy the car ( i work on tugs and was about to leave in two days) and therefore didnt have time to get and independent shop to inspect it I trusted carmart when they said that nothing was wrong with it. come to find out it has a trans leak, oil filter housing leak, worn out control arms, the drivers window wont roll all the way up, and the windshield had a crack in it that i didnt notice. the sum of all these repairs amount to more than I saved on the car with the "great" price whats more disapointing is how much time the car will be in the shop for wasnt really looking for a project . Keep in mind that their warranty covers only 50% of parts and labor and it has to be done at their shop ( they attempted to fix the window and it failed the next day). Dont buy from this place without getting car inspected from an independent shop, a place where you trust. Also keep in mind that while Maryland State Inspection standards are very high, the car can still pass inpection with worn bushings, a trans leak, oil leak and other issues as it does not cover this.

Sean said the vehicle I was buying had minor damage, and that his body shop was going to take car of it. What a crock. I flew to D.C. to pick it up. I should have taken it to the Toyota dealer to get inspected, but I was in a rush. Everything looked good on the outside, but 8 hours out of D.C. on the trip home, I noticed the A/C didnt work. I took it into my Toyota dealership, and they couldnt believe the crap job under the hood of the car. Of course I didnt know, because Carmart made it nice and shiny. However, bolts were missing, the condensor for the A.C. was smashed in (hidden to the buyers eyes). They used two drywall screws to attatch the plastic wheel well (underneath the car). On a 2007 car that I was paying $18900 for!!! As soon as I confronted him on the problems, he had the nerve to hang up on me. Now I have to contemplate taking him to court. What a mess! Why did I buy this car from this dealer? Never again!

Sean the owner was really nice he did discoled the car was in an accident but after i put a 3500 down payment on it, the allegedly fixed the engine troubles with 2 new spark plugs yea they clear the code the light went off for 100miles came back on after i purchased didnt even bother with the 50% have a friend who did the work for way less. so they have 3 idiots on staff and one owner whose always away at auction buying damaged cars so he can make his money shrewd business man. but all these cars are messed up in accident unless your lucky enough to get a theft recovery their will be issues, Geico wouldnt even insure me cause of the branded title. bought bigger car because i was having a child so i was rushed to purchase now im stuck with a trans that slips and unsafe vehicle for my child on top of being fired from taco bell last july boy o boy am i having a good year. Keep your money and get a carfax worst dealership ever
