I have never been in a store where so many employees are so unhelpful, useless and a waste of space. Ordered a fridge and an install. Simple right? No, the intake person sets up the order and we ask for an ice maker to come with the fridge. He then tells us how much it will cost to install the ice maker and remove the old fridge. We agree, all is good. Took a week for the delivery to arrive, which is kind of a long wait but ok, we can deal. Then comes the installers, dont speak a word of English. They remove the old fridge, busted the doorways up by doing so. Brings the new fridge in and then tries to tell us that there is no ice maker. Oh thats nice, now we cant put the old fridge back, because they busted it all apart and cant communicate so we let them go. Now we have open water lines and make phone calls to HD. Useless person on the phone tells us to come into the store. Fine, we go to the store and the appliance worker tells us that we shouldnt have taken the fridge or signed off on it. No apology, no help with what we can do to cap off the water line, just screw you, deal with it. Turns out the first person didnt put an ice maker in the order, just to install one. Oh ok, I guess people just have ice makers lying around.... The appliance worker spoke really bad English and was extremely condescending, just sitting there, looking at us while we ask for help. Useless individual. We ask for the boss, but her ass was too damn lazy to come and see us, just told the guy to give us a discount on the ice maker that we should buy now and have delivered next week. Oh but conveniently for them, their computers didnt work so we cant do the ice maker order today. USELESSSSSS. Fine, we go to plumbing to get a cap for the water line. Again, no one useful to help us find the part. What is the point of having a staff and paying them for just breathing in the store? Arent anyone proud of their work anymore? Wont shop there again, they can keep the stupid ice maker. And then these large stores wonder why people shop online and they cant keep their doors open.

I was happy with my experience. I went there knowing exactly what I wanted, so didnt need any help. I got a Cordless drill kit, and once I got to the register realized that it was taped shut with clear packing tape. It was a messy job to say the least. I thought perhaps it was a return that they reshelved. Not wanting to gamble with that, I told the cashier half way through ringing me up that Id like to go ahead and buy it, then swap it out for another one. She was fine with that, and even volunteered to have someone go do it for me. I declined. Once I went back to the display, I realized that every box was like that. Poorly applied tape. I theorize that this is theft deterrence of some sort. Perhaps to keep people from taking the batteries or various parts out. I dont know. It looked horrible though. Once I got it home, and got he tape off, everythign was there, and looked as though it had never been opened. The store is not in a good location. It is really easy to drive right by it. You cant see it from Prosperity Drive. If you look carefully as driving by, you might catch a quick glimpse of a corner of the orange Home Depot sign. Its behind car dealer storage lots. But once you find it, its not a bad place.

In that I am retired and in no hurry I will, when I need something, often drive to various Home Depots surrounding the DC area just to compare stores and I have to say that the Silver Spring outlet that I visited today is the best that Ive been to. When Im in the stores I usually dont ask for help but rather just wander about the aisles until I find what Ive come for. However, I must have had at least 4 employees ask me in the half hour I was wandering about if I needed any help finding anything. The place was clean and well stocked and I had no waiting in line when ready to check out. Im not sure what else one can ask for. The store is a little hard to find and the entrance I came to is somewhat hidden by trees and I zoomed right by it even though my GPS was telling me I had arrived. If, like me, you are not familiar with the territory be sure and either map quest it or program your GPS to help you find it. I will return to this Home Depot unless I find an even better one in Virginia. (the one on Rhode Island in DC I dont recommend for various reasons that I wont go into here.)

My favorite Home Depot. The store is clean, organized, well stocked and lots of great open space to explore what you are looking for. The staff is kind and courteous, they are ready to help you find the supplies you need or offer a fixable solution to a problem you may be experiencing. The garden section is full of a variety of plants and gardening supplies to enhance your gardening experience. Wish that there were more staff on hand to operate registers instead of self check out but that is the only issue I have with this store.

After being given the "bums rush" at the Hyattsville MD store, I came to the Silver Spring MD. A man, Albert, and a woman, Florence (not sure of her name), were the essence of professionalism. They gave me the prices, lined up an appointment for measuring, called to make sure that all was OK...and very soon I will have my security doors. I will NEVER go to Hyattsville. HD headquarters really needed to investigate why their average rating is 2 stars. The SILVER SPRING MD Home Depot is defintely 5 STARS!

I have purchased over 125 bags of black mulch and am very disappointed . These bags were full of inferior quality material. They contained sticks, chunks of uncolored wood and crap. This resulted in a poor looking finish , uneven and disappointing . I am not used to this quality from home depot. This was the store on Cherry Lane. I was very pleased with the help the staff gave us in loading since I am 78 years old. I would give them 5 stars.!!! I had to spend time sorting out the ugly "mulch" .

Was going to get some tools. Asked staff, they had no clue. Most tools sold are not new, returned and hastly packaged with scotch and old packaging. Shop there at your risk. This store and the one in Cherry Hill (Rt. 1 and Cherry Hill Rd, next to Shoppers) are the worst ran Home Depot stores I have seen in the entire DC metro area. Avoid, if you can, to shop there. Lowes in Laurel is much better staffed and usually well stocked. It is also farther north.

In terms of customer service this place is a hit or miss, dependent on who you approach. Sometimes they just tell you to look at the product label and call the manufacturer (for example, for wooden shutters); the other times they give you a detailed explanation (door lock). I would not rent a truck there; I received at least three conflicting messages from that department and failed to get a truck on time. But returns are not a problem.
