Before I came to Computer Place, I went and checked out at Best Buy and Micro Center to see I they can do anything to my desktop computer with a disk problem. The disk crashed and I could not even start my computer from it. After seeing very long lines at both places, and also too many steps to go thru, I decided to look for some small computer repair shops instead. I also tried to pull out the old disk and put in a new one, but I had a very hard time. Fortunately, here is Computer Place at Gaithersburg - close to where I live. Its not too small though. They sell computers and accessories too. The repair technician knows what he is doing, put on a new disk and reinstall my computer for the next day pickup. Thank you guys!!! Im happy with my computer now.

I have been working with these folks for close to 20 years. Andy is the owner. Matt is the guy you want to talk to. Its a refreshing change from the Big Box stores and the online retailers. Its like going to Ace Hardware instead of Home Depot. The folks actually know what theyre talking about and you dont feel like theyre looking over your shoulder at the next customer. I own five computers (up and running) and they were all purchased here. Its getting kind of old-fashioned to buy a box with a power supply, monitor, keyboard and mouse as opposed to a laptop or spinning up a VMware instance, but if thats your requirement, and youre in Gaithersburg or surrounding environs, this is the best place, bar none.

The people here are very nice and helpful, and they dont overcharge you. Theyre very honest and upfront about any "extra" fees, so theyll let you know if they charge for things like installation costs. Every once in a while Ill even take an item up to the front counter and find its an extra 10% off the list price. Good prices, good selection. Ive picked out parts and had them build two desktops for me in the past eight years, both of which lasted me 4 years and could have stretched longer if I didnt care about gaming. Recently they helped me pick out a few hardware pieces to upgrade the latter of those desktops and now it runs like its brand new.

I had them replace the screen of my laptop recently. The price was reasonable, but I have some complaints. A) They replaced my 1080p screen with a 1600x900 display. Did they think I would not notice? If there was a price difference or a sourcing problem, they could have called me. I probably would have been OK with it, but its not cool at all to replace the part with something inferior and try to pass it off as equivalent. B) I waited 2 weeks and never got a call. Finally, when I called to check the progress, it was ready, and had been for days! I really need that laptop, and there is no reason for it to sit there.

This place has been around for years and they are fantastic. They are no frills, which is great - they are not about slick marketing, they are experts that offer quality parts and services. They will figure out what your options are and give you an honest explanation so that you can make the decision. My old laptop died - they could have charged me much more to remove data from the hard drive on to an external hard drive, but instead they suggested that they make sure the hard drive was good, put it in an enclosure that basically turned it into an external hard drive, and saved me a lot of money. Great service!

Fast, friendly, efficient and reasonable prices. I needed a new motherboard after a botched upgrade attempt and thought the work may exceed my skills. I ldiscussed my issues with a technician, Chris, and not once was I made to feel incompetent. Chris diagnosed my PC recommended a course of action and completed the work, which exceeded my expectations. We talked about possible additional upgrades and Chris advised me that my system would not benifit much from any available devidr upgrades beyond what I have already completed, so there was no pressure to add additional items. Highly rewcommeded!

They replaced the screen on my laptop a few months ago. The service was friendly, they did a great job, and Im very satisfied. (To put their work in perspective, the IT folks at work recently replaced a fan on on my work laptop and the laptop never worked again. So I was a little leery about spending a couple hundred dollars for a repair if that was going to happen again here.) Ill be going back if and when one of the kids steps on the laptop again! I couldnt be happier with these guys.

I had lost sound. Probably from some "free software" that I had tried and it apparently caused a mysterious and significant Registry problem which destroyed my audio capability. I spent hours trying to /Google my way out of trouble, but got nowhere. Charlie and Jack listened to my story, diagnosed my problem and developed a perfect workaround. (And gave me some good advice about avoiding free software) Thanks, Guys

More stuff than the big box stores better selection competitive pricing friendly service and its an independent shop they go out of their way to make sure your satisfied customer. Not to mention theyre so close and convenient while I go anywhere else unless you have to drama my default is to call here first

Great service, and awesome prices. Professional tech I went to a few places and they would take like 3 days to check my computer I spent less than 10 minutes and it was something slight that he fixed it plus recommended me to fix something else that I couldnt find anywhere else.

They are great here -very friendly, prompt, and reasonably priced. Have had to take my computer here twice - once to remove a virus and reinstall operating system, and more recently to have a broken charge port repaired. Very satisfied with both experiences.
