Lens Crafters of Emeryville was known for their excellent service...around 5 years ago. Between now and then their customer service has taken a nose dive. My recent visit: -Made appointment and showed up fifteen minutes earlier only to wait 60 minutes for staff to inform me that the Optometrist would not be coming in to work that day. -Arrived at second appointment promptly the day and was told my appointment time was later that day. It was not, but I waited until my appointment time then waited another 45 minutes to be seen after my scheduled appointment time. The optometrist was very well mannered, polite and apologetic but communication breakdown I found was the only consistency at this location. -Ordering process was pain-free and I received a voice mail notification that my glasses had arrived within the date range I was given. -Arrived to pick up my glasses only to find out they were the wrong color. No discount was offered even though I needed them for an upcoming race and had specifically ordered them with that in mind. To make a long story short, I have been trying to contact them for a status update and cannot seem to get anyone to help me. It has been three weeks since they supposedly reordered my glasses that are no longer showing in their system. This whole process leaves a sour taste in my mouth and will think twice before ever doing business LensCrafters/Luxottica again. Spend your dollars elsewhere if you can.

I paid a lot of money and they damaged my sunglasses. Shockingly bad customer service. Buyer beware! I purchased a pair of sunglass online from Oakley. I brought them in to this LensCrafters location for prescription lenses. When I went to pick them up, they didnt have the original non-prescription lenses (which I wanted to keep as they are useful for when I have contact lenses. Theyre also about $70 and I had paid for them, so I think its reasonable to want to keep them). I was told that they werent in the store and Oakley had kept them. They told me that I had to call Oakley to track them down. They wouldnt do this for me. I called Oakley, they didnt have them. I recalled the store to ask for more help. It turns out they were sent to the "lens reclaim" bin. I got them back. However, the white glasses frames were marred with little black streaks. And the original lenses were scratched. I foolishly signed their waiver releasing them from responsibility for any damage to the frames during handling. Based on this waver, they said they cant do anything about it and theyre not liable for damage to the frames and lenses. Im very disappointed in the poor customer service. The prescription lenses were very expensive. They were happy to take my money, and have zero concern for the damage theyve caused.

Got 2 pairs , one for me, one for my husband. The whole process of fitting the glasses and putting in the paper work took about 2 hours. They apparently have "a new system " that kept losing the information that was just typed in. So after all that, it was gonna take 2 hours since mine were tinted and would take longer. Fine. I drove hubby home, did errands, had lunch, and no call 2.5 hours later. I called them, and only my husbands is ready, mine had to be special ordered in, would take another 2 weeks. I never got a call to tell me this, my husbands glasses have been ready for an hour and no one called. This was blamed on "the new system ". Whatever. Its now been 3 weeks and still no call. I just called them and they said they texted me 2 days ago. No, never got the text. Again, this was blamed on " the new system". Save yourself time and frustration, go somewhere else.

I see quite a few negative reviews and just wanted to throw in a positive one. I went in today without an appointment because my glasses have been falling off my face every time I look down. The staff person who waited on me offered me a seat and had my glasses fixed in 10 minutes -- adjusted, cleaned, and with new nose pads -- all for free. I had also brought several pairs of old glasses to donate. One of the pairs was missing a screw. He said, no problem, he would fix them and then put them in the donation box. Very cool. Granted, I didnt order new glasses today or need to see the optician, so I dont know what that service would have been like. But for my needs, the service was excellent.

Contact lens fitting 6 weeks ago. Ordered contacts at same time. 4 weeks later, no contacts. Go back in, they say they sent my contacts to the wrong address. I know I filled out the paper work correctly and even showed them my car insurance (for a slight discount) with the correct address on it. They said to expect my contacts in 4 days. Two weeks later, nothing. I get 4-5 days off a month. I cant afford to waste them at this place trying to fix their inexcusable screw up. I will be getting my money back and taking my business elsewhere.

My wife and Mother in law showed up this morning to be greeted by all the staff. The Manager Dharmil, was super helpful and very pleasant to work with. We browsed for an hour, mom and wife trying on many pairs. Dharmil, helped others while we browsed. Coming back to us whenever we had a question. Very nice place to get glasses and anyone that had a bad experience, I suggest giving them another chance. If you are new, go in with a smile and it will be a good experience.

Extremely poor customer service. They wouldnt make lenses that another LensCrafters made, their explanation was that they just couldnt do it.
