My buddy broke down while up here from New Orleans. After 1200 miles the gasket on his oil filter blew so we bought another one from the nearest Harley dealership and after about 300 miles that one started leaking too. So we called the warranty place and told them what happened - they thought as we did that something may be causing the oil pressure to go too high. We had called this Harley shop told them the situation and they told us they could look at it the next morning so we confirmed with the warranty company that it was alright to take it to them. Initial impression was that this was the friendliest shop I had ever dealt with. One of the guys that came out to tag the bike noticed that his front light was missing and told him he had an old one laying around at his house and he would just give it to him. I was so impressed that I told my buddy that if they treated him right when this was done, that I was bringing all my business there. They told us they would call us and everything was peaches and cream. The next day was a different story – no call so my buddy called up there to see if they could take a look at the horn under the same warranty call. They said they had already fixed his bike and they were too busy to pull it back in. He asked what the problem was – they said a cracked oil filter. He said yea we knew it was the oil filter but did you check the oil pressure cause as he told them yesterday that this was the second filter in 1500 miles to go bad. He told us no that the problem was obvious so there was no need to check anything else. So bottom line $95 to change an oil filter which we would have done and had done 2 days earlier for $15. So now he still does not know what is causing the problem and has to ride 1200 miles back to New Orleans puckered up waiting for it to happen again. And to add insult the injury – they told him “Oh yea – your oil is low” this after they took it for a test ride!!! 2 qts low at that. They said they didn’t know what kind of oil he used so they just didn’t put any in. Guess they couldn’t read the phone number they wrote down on the service order. Oh and the guy that was going to bring him the light for his front fender – he forgot about it! I gave them 2 stars because the staff was so friendly - but I sure won’t be taking my bikes there for service. ; (

Went into Harley Davidson of Frederick on the odd chance that they would have a used cruiser that would fit into my small budget of 3K. Yes, you read that correctly. I knew it was a long shot, I mean what are the odds of finding an older used "Chevy" at a Lexus dealer, right? Anyway, long story short, they sold me a 1998 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 with 21K and kept it under my budget. All good. Here is where the dealership really excelled. I had reported a shudder in the front end. Mike Vantucci, the owner of the dealership called me personally to arrange for the repair and the pick up and delivery of the bike. Seems that hes made customer service his 2nd religion and wasnt willing to leave this matter unaddressed even though my deal was so minuscule relative to an HD. Wait...it gets better... Seems there might have been a good reason why someone traded in this bike. Seems that it has a leaky rear cylinder valve cover gasket and to repair it, the entire motor has to come out of the frame. Well, they picked it up and are repairing it under the 30 day used bike warranty. Its clear that they made very little profit on my deal. And now, whatever they made is out the window in repairs. Nevertheless, there has been no question or comment about the bike being sold at such a low price that there was no warranty or that it was sold "as is" (which it wasnt!) or any attempt to weasel out of fixing it or putting responsibility on me somehow. They took complete responsibility and are making my $2700 Kawasaki right. I cant praise HD of Frederick enough. They really care about the little guy along with the big deals. I wouldnt buy a HD or any other motorcycle anywhere else.

i can remember back to my late teens, when i stopped in the Harley dealer in Frederick Md to check out the bikes-Mike V was the man in charge,i could afford the bike of my dreams- but not the insurance to cover it !!! lol!! 30 years later i am pleased to say that i have had nothing but "top shelf" service from the team that mike has had the good fortune to lead - i have an old 1993 FLHTC - i was out for a ride in mid November when much to my surprise - the bike shut down on RT 108 just east of RT 32 - i called a towing company that never called back & then i called Harley Davidson of Frederick- they sent a tow truck out right away,- by the time the truck had arrived i had figured out what caused the battery to drain- i told the driver when he arrived that all i wanted was a jump start-i wanted to ride back to frederick-not be towed-he said "i will have to call to see if i can do that"-he came back and said - "as long as you hook up the cables" -haha!! The bike fired right up & i asked the driver what i owed him - he said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING-YOUR RIDING A HARLEY!!:-HE FOLLOWED ME ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE SHOP IN FREDERICK!! Iwent to the local Costco the next day and bought shrimp cocktail platters and delivered to the dealership to show my appreciation-thanks Mike Vantucci - your staff sets the standard for customer service

I guess if you visit one place long enough you are bound to have less than favorable service at some point. That fortunately has never been the case at Frederick Harley Davidson for me of for those I ride with. I have stopped there every year for 4 years while doing Run For The Wall (not to be confused with the one day massive Rolling Thunder event). Run For the Wall starts in Ontario, CA and goes all the way to Washington DC in 10 days. We are mostly veterans not a motorcycle club. Each time I have done RFTW I have stopped at Fredericks. I have one complaint. Not enough t-shirts in large and Xl sizes. Thats it. Service has always been perfect, helpful, quickly performed. Some times extra help was called in. Their service crew knows their business and it is performed with professionalism. I know, I get to watch inside the service bay and anyone can if they want. The service department is open to visit inside the service area. You can talk with your technician while he works on your bike if you want. Travelers get priority over current projects. When Ive been there they have had free food to eat: hot dogs, donuts, water, etc. I love visiting Fredericks and I will continue to drop in every time I am back there. Maybe next time they will have a long sleeve t-shirt in my size. Thanks Fredericks!!!
