Ive wasted so much time at this store looking for the deck building item. I visited the store and trying to get some help find the item with no success. I asked at customer service desk & they just paged someone over the speaker saying "assistant needed at isle XX ". Standing there over 30 minutes & no one showed up. I grabbed one of the associate & asked availability of the item, he simply answered, " I dont see it & we dont have it if it is not on the shelf". I left the store wasted about 2 hours. I checked on line & the item shows available at the store for pick up. Called the store to make sure no one answered. I just took another trip to the store & again could not get any help, and at last someone told me the same thing, " I dont think we have it". Another a couple of hours wasted. Later, my contractor said he needs them as soon as possible, so I called the store again waited while on the phone trying to get to someone. Brent, I think he is one of the managers, told me he has them in stock & he promised he will have them out & ready on the shelf. I went back out to the store again within an hour of the phone call, trusting the manager, the item was not there & Brent was gone for the day. I called the store again, standing in the store while, again, trying to get some help with no success, found out Brent was gone, and another manager, Ebi came to the isle. I explained the whole day of waste of time. He was looking for the item for a few minutes & told me he did not have them. But for the courtesy, he will pick them up from different store & have them ready to be picked up at the customer service next day, Fathers day, any time after 8 am. I arrived at the store at 9 am. no one knew about the item. Tom spent a few minutes to figure out whats going on. Tom told me he would give me a call when he finds out whats going on. Tom called me & left message that Ebi will pick them up from other store in the afternoon & will deliver to my house. ( I still have that message on my voicemail. ) . I stopped by the store again & left my address with gentleman name, Maurice. GUESS WHAT ??? NO BODY EVER SHOWED UP TO DELIVER THE ITEM. I wasted so much time for two days trying to buy this simple stuff at HOME DEPOT but gained NOTHING BUT WASTE OF TIME. I think I deserve a little better treatment than this from well know store like HOME DEPOT !!!!

The everyday staff who work at this Columbia Home Depot store are helpful, decent people. However, the management is a different story. Do not ask this home depot to install flooring for you. This Home Depot provided a $5,200 estimate to install laminate flooring in a rental condo I own in Columbia, Maryland. Their representative visited the condo, took a look at my current floor, and approved the project. Home Depot subsequently delivered the flooring materials. However, when Home Depots installer showed up to install the floor, they balked. Suddenly, they claimed the floor was too uneven; thus, it would require too much work. So they left. Without doing anything, and without taking back their flooring materials. Terrible customer service. Thereafter, Home Depot in Columbia, Md., were very uncooperative in terms of arranging the pick up of the laminate flooring materials they had left in my condo, in addition to actually refunding my money - $5,200. In fact, it took weeks to process the return and refund. I had to keep calling the store managers and "expediters" close to a dozen times. Home Depot also tried to falsely claim that they had removed my underlying carpet and should be compensated at least $700 for this. This assertion, of course, was a lie. So I said no, and that I want all of my money back - the full $5,200. Moreover, "Mike" and Pam the "expeditor" managers refused to refund a $186 delivery fee for the laminate, indicating it was an "unforeseen business expense." I am now filing in small claims court for this $186 fee. After finally taking back the laminate flooring, I think Home Depot were hoping I would forget, or give up, so that they could keep the $5,200. Be very careful when asking this Home Depot to do any sort of installation. Their installation teams are not detail oriented, and you never know who exactly they are subcontracting the job to. Caveat emptor! The management of this Home Depot are extremely unethical. I would feel bad for those people more vulnerable and not in a position to file a small claims court suit against them.

I found a water heater at Ellicott City store for $228 with free "ship-to-store". But I wanted to take care of it immediately, rather than wait for it to be shipped to the location. They had it in stock at other stores, including the Columbia, MD location, but when I changed the location in my online shopping cart to Columbia, the price jumped up $100 to $328. I called the Columbia location and the employee I spoke with said he would find out if he could change the price for me and call me back - taking my name and number down. I waited an hour and received no phone call. I then called back and spoke with a store manager, and the store manager said he would be unable to match the price of the other store. The two locations are only 9.6 miles apart. I called the regional office and spoke with a representative that explained the store managers have discretion over the price, and they get the final say. I always hate shopping at Home Depot, and this experience was no different than the preposterously awful level of service I have come to trust I will receive from this dreadful company.

I sought an associate in the XYZ Department for 5 minutes, without finding anyone. I know retail employees are assigned departments, but nobody was around, so I flagged the attention of the first employee asking if they could assist finding the associate assigned to Electrical. They assured me theyd get someone momentarily. 10 Minutes later - Nothing. AGAIN, I sought out any employee nearby (given the size of HD, that took another 4-5 minutes given its size) and once again, find the associate standing there talking with more employees. She insists someone should be right with me. 5 minutes later, no body is there to help me. Customer Service??? Completely absent. Eventually I simply interrupted the next "superbusy" employee in sight, playing with their smartphone to ask them my simple question, which was somewhat provided an answer within 2 minutes. From my experience shopping at this location, **Customer Service responsiveness is not even on the radar for an Acceptable rating**

Im really disappointed with this Home Depot. TLDR; This store almost made us lose $100 over a faulty gift card. The most recent example: my in-laws gave my husband a $100 gift card to Home Depot. To use their gift card, you have to scratch off the card PIN and number when you check out. When we scratched off our PIN and card number, several of the numbers disintegrated. We immediately informed the cashier (we were at self-checkout), and 30 minutes later, we left the store with a "We cant do anything for you." Long story short, we spent 6 unsuccessful days trying to work with this store to resolve this. When we called a different Home Depot, they resolved it in less than 5 minutes and were a lot nicer about it.
