It was late at night and they were closing and so I went to the checkout and bought the things I had picked out to purchase. The check-out went smoothly and as I approached the exit I was confronted by three men; two large African Americans one wearing just plain clothes and an older man who did most of the abuse and an older Indian, Afghani, or Pakistani gentleman. Im not too sure but he said he was the manager, they ordered me to empty my pockets since I didnt have a basket or cart (since I wasnt getting much except for a car magazine and a couple Arizona drinks). I had brought in some red bulls that i had gotten at the CVS and had a bunch of condoms in my pocket because it was me and my fiances 2 year anniversary. They were ordering me to empty my pockets when I had not taken anything and the older African American man was threatening me saying he was going to beat me so bad I wouldnt be able to see or eat solid food or have intercourse with my fiance for the rest of my life if I did not empty my pockets, I had also brought a thing of ky jelly with me too because I was coming from my fiances apartment. At that point they had closed the doors which at that point I was falsely imprisoned for over an hour while getting threatened and treated like a criminal. I take medicine which makes my short term memory REALLY BAD so when I checked my pockets and jacket I realized I had accidentally put to smaller whipped cream cans in my jacket because my hands were full after bringing the whipped cream out I said I would pay for it and they refused to let me. They took my red bulls, ky jelly, all my condoms (over 40 dollars worth), and not to mention my pride. They were saying I was shoplifting when I had plenty of money and receipts to cover all of what I had already paid for at the CVS earlier. I was humiliated verbally, falsely imprisoned for over an hour and a half, and was called racist slurs like cracka (equivalent to the "N" word to me) and much worse names that I dont want to repeat and also it causes me severe PTSD thinking about this event. It is a nice shopping center but I was singled out for being the only young white 22 year old in the store and they were not going to let me leave their store. The older African American man said if I tried to run "I wouldnt see sunlight or be able to see my fiance let alone talk to her because of how badly he would beat me up". He also pushed and shoved me repeatedly for over an hour and slapped my magazine out of my hands to show how "tough" he was. I just wanted to say it was a terrible experience the older "Indian" man kept trying to take a picture of me which is illegal without my consent and I was telling him repeatedly "you cannot take my picture!" he said it was because he was going to ban me from the store and "had" to take my picture to recognize me. If anyone ever sees these men again keep an eye out and I hope your shopping experience is better than mine was up until that night...btw the "Indian" woman who was working the register never said anything she just watched as I was physically and verbally abused when she hadnt said anything to me which Im assuming if I were the cash register I would have said something if I noticed someone shoplifting and I would have happily paid for the whipped cream and thanked her for helping me remember. Physical force and verbal degradation is never the way the solve a communication error and a mistake on my part for forgetting and I apologize for that. I am never going back that is for sure! There are much better Giant grocery stores to go to than the one I was interrogated, verbally and physically abused, and falsely imprisoned by the employees! I will never forget that night or get that time back which I missed with my fiance.

Not impressed here. I saw better produce at Rockville Pike location. Orchard Perfect peaches on sale size of plums, same pattern with other produce - too small! Better deals and produce at Whole Foods. If I am going to pay $5 for an eggplant I will do it there, or at Dawsons where the quality is better. Overpriced. Sadly, Giant is NOT the great local chain it was! I used to shop at Giant a lot it used to be my favorite store UPDATE: came yesterday, didnt keep receipt. My yogurt was within the expiration date but it was spoiled - disgusting! Someone can get sick but apparently they dont care. Places run by foreigners and morons and management is just too stupid so it wont change

I shop at this store three or four times each week. The staff is friendly and helpful, the checkers dont mind coupons and the selection is great. If I cant find something, an employee can always help me locate it. Of course, I shop during daytime hours on weekdays, so perhaps I avoid the busiest times of day.

Staff makes a valiant effort to help but the store does not have enough support to be truly successful. Undependable scanners, scales that dont always work, blocked aisles, and borderline fresh produce make this a frustrating experienced for the shopper.

I like Giant, but Im not a fan of this location. There are always long lines, they dont have the best selection (yesterday could not find cherry pie filling, which I thought was a fairly common ingredient), and their parking lot is a nightmare.

I love my Giant in Arlington Road in Bethesda, the people there treat me like family and they all are very nice and helpful, I personally know the Store Managers.The customer service is fabulous.I have been member since 1986.

Walking distance from my home so I go here a lot. Its a good store with lots of options. I always find the produce section to be a bit crazy, but I blame that on the customers and not Giant.

This location has always had everything Ive needed. While the outdoor parking lot is always congested, head down to the underground parking lot as not many people know its even there!
