Ive been a longtime customer of LL Bean, but a recent visit to the Freeport flagship store left me dumbfounded as to how far theyve fallen. The first issue I had was I has four clothing items to return (from 50+ purchases over the last 3 years) due to quality issues. They refused to take back 2 shirts, because I always cut off the little sleeve length/neck size tab that irritates my neck, all other tags were intact including the LL BEAN tag on the collar. I couldnt believe it. Ive heard stories of people getting LL Bean items from second-hand shops for next to nothing and returning them for full money back,, but apparently LL Bean does NOT always take care of its actual customers. The other issue I had was: everything seems to be made in China, but its being sold at a made in Germany or USA price. I think that in the future, Im going to be a lot more careful about buying from them, since they apparently are NOT standing fully behind their products any more.

Do not shop at LL Bean anymore. It is not what it used to be. Horrible customer service and management. My husband drove over an hour on Christmas Eve to do some Christmas shopping for me. They would NOT allow him to use the coupons I sent with him. He had correct ID, etc... There are plenty other retailers that offer MUCH better customer service and policies. Go to Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, for instance. The North Face outlet offers a far superior product and value prices for the quality. Go ANYWHERE but LL Bean. The sales reps do not have a clue about the products. Example: we bought a tent, and the sales rep did not have a clue how to go about getting replacement straps for the ones sold w/ the tent (they failed). He suggested going to a hardware store and asking an associate there. Really? ANYWHERE BUT LLBEAN for your outdoor and clothing needs!

Im happy I have the LL Bean Boots they are waterproof including at the holes for the laces and the treads keep you safe from slipping therere incredibly well made. LL Bean of Freeport Maine is a family store founded a century ago that remains in the family. The stock is privately held. Im mentioning this because I just bought a pair of LL Bean Boots after a wait list of a year because their boots are the most popular boots today. College students wont buy any other boots creating a market where LL Bean has 120,000 back ordered boots with a wait list that lasts until June. No one is canceling their orders because theres not another boot like it the world. I found mine though a special in person and Internet search from customer service. Customer Service is excellent creating customer loyalty making you want to order again. LL Bean is absolutely amazing :-)

No other retailer that i can think of has such a strong customer focus. L.L. Bean stands by their product and their product is excellent. I stopped in today to exchange a pair of hiking boots I had purchased 4 months ago. I hadnt gotten time to try them out, but after two days on the trail, they were clearly not a good fit. Beans not only took them back, but offered to exchange them for a similarly priced pair. The boots that I wound up liking were slightly more expensive but Beans took care of the difference! This is why they will always get my business. 99% of the time you walk out the doors with a product that will last a lifetime, but if anything is wrong, they take care of it.

“Great quality and great customer service” Ive been an L.L. Bean fan since I was in high school. Having bought lots of items over the years, from lights to clothes, to boots and sleeping bags, Ive always been statisfied with my purchases. However, this last visit, I finally returned something - a pair of boots that Ive had for 3 or 4 years - for some reason, they always ended up bothering my left heel. So I brought them back, and they gave me a gift card for the last sale price of the boot (as I didnt have my receipt), no questions asked. Can a consumer ask for anything more? Friendly staff, a place to eat, a huge fish tank, fireplace - love this place! Visited January 2017

Loved looking at all the guns; and they stand behind everything they sell even the crappy spincast reels I purchased that fell apart in the 1st 30 minutes of use. They refunded my money so I upgraded to a very nice ready to fish fly rod and reel combo and the pro on staff was an avid flyfisherman so he helped me pick out the best flys for all the different types of fish I will be fishing for from brook trout up north to striped bass on the Kennebec. Im totally covered! He even set up my reel especially to fit my style and preferences which was worth the 160 that I paid for the premium kit. He knew the right questions to ask and exactly what I needed to get started!

I have always loved shopping LL Bean catalog. We live in the south and finally took a trip to New England. I was so excited to finally get to visit the "flagship" store. What a disappointment! The clerks were unfamiliar with the very layout of the store! The man in the menswear dept was downright rude. Clerks in another department were unfamiliar with the LL Bean basic line of merchandise - one never heard of a rib knit turtleneck and asked me what that was. The checkout clerk rolled my clothes in a ball instead of folding them. I have to recommend you stick with the catalog and stay out of the store!

I grew up in Maine and Bean was always a major part of my wardeobe. I hadnt been to the store since I was a kid. Ive lived in New York for the past 25 years. While visiting my family we went to Freeport ans WOW! How it has changed! It was awesome to go through the stores and see the displays and history. The display of the 2 moose with their horns locked was amazing especially with the story of it for you to read. We ate in the Topside tavern while a local musician played the guitar and sang some great songs. We had a great day! Better than I remember, for sure!

L.L. Bean is a iconic store in Maine. They sell a lot of quality stuff with lifetime garenties on their brand name merchandise. That said a lot of there stuff is made overseas so you are supporting that when you buy from them. I have always had good experiences with the actual store. Always plenty of associates around that are happy to help. I went there at a busy time (around the holidays) and had to wait in line for quite a long time but I would think normally that wouldnt be a problem. I had the gift I bought gift wrapped there for free as well.

Ive been going to LL Bean since I was knee high to a grasshopper and still go all the time with my kids as an adult. They have always had quality products and they stand behind them 100% we buy most of our hunting,hiking gear and childrens clothing and footwear there with confidence. The LL Bean flagship store should be destination #1 if your traveling through Maine or if your looking for quality childrens clothing and footwear the have a great selection there. We really enjoy heading to beans and shopping with our family.
