Oh man Walmart... I used to be such a fan. This store is a dump though, and it keeps getting dumpier. Its great when you have things in stock...but they never are. Produce is cheap, but I walk in and find empty bins whenever I go, or the stuff that I do find is going bad. Went in for a drill bit the other day - you were, of course, out of the one that I needed. Same story when I looked for some cream, or a certain drink my wife likes. Often, I find items are not at all where theyre supposed to be. Your Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream selection is supposed to be vast; you have almost a whole refrigeration units worth of shelves dedicated to the little containers, but the items that happen to be in stock are never in the right place. It would be so nice to find Peanut Butter Fudge Core for once instead of Phish Food in its place... Your lines are atrocious, and slow, and your cash registers are always breaking. "This" machine only takes cards while "that" machine doesnt accept repairs. Do some maintenance, and keep an eye on the front! Dont let your lines get back to the lingerie section! I was nearly bowled over twice the other day by overzealous teenage stockers haphazardly driving pallets at out-of-control speeds. Other times they block off entire areas of the store, and I literally have to push merchandise out of the way just to enter the aisle. Its just left there, unattended, sometimes for over an hour. And its not one row, its several, all consecutive, making navigating the already bare shelves a nightmare. I made a return last week. 30 min wait. Not exaggerating. The poor girls handling the returns were jumping back and forth between machines in order to make refunds. One of them explained, "This machine doesnt run cards, while on the other one the register doesnt open, so you have to jump between several machines sometimes to process one return." Seriously? The machines are old and grubby, but if they worked it wouldnt be a big deal. By now if youre not a Walmart employee, you are probably thinking, "Why does he go anymore?" Well, I dont. Not if I can help it. I spend three times as long when I go to Walmart and find less than half of what I should find less than half of the time. I have to make multiple stops now, and sometimes I pay a little more, but at least Im not wasting my time navigating stalled pallets and long lines to buy products that arent even there.

You can rarely find a better price for anything than at Wal-Mart (although prices for some things, like an oil change, are pretty overpriced for the level of service). But this is really a lousy store and I hate shopping here. Someday when I am rich I will shop elsewhere, maybe at Target :) If you ask someone where to find any particular product, they will probably look at you with an annoyed look on their face for a few seconds, probably because they are in the middle of something very important like beating the 14th level of Ms. Pac Man on their cell phone, and then they will give you a short, general answer like "somewhere near the back of the store" and then they will walk away to try to get away from you so they can finish their game in peace and not be disturbed by customers. They are downright rude to be honest. If you go in the evenings the freight guys are dragging pallets all over the place and if you dont get out of their way they will run you over (and some of them will tell you as much) so watch out. They usually dont say things like "Excuse me please" but it is usually something along the lines of "Coming through" or "Get out of the way". Look, I know how annoying customers can be, Ive worked in customer service and in grocery stores before, but you have to find a way to be polite for heavens sake. This store just hasnt figured that out for some reason. I hate shopping here, but I do it anyway for the prices. I have walked out feeling insulted time after time, so now I avoid having to interact with the staff at all costs. Oh by the way, lines are LOOOOONG. They have a million check out stands but usually only about five are open. Expect to wait at least 15 minutes any time of day before its your turn to check out, but if it is a weekend or late in the evening, expect up to half an hour. Cmon Wal-Mart! Put more checkers on the floor when you are going to be busy! Its that simple! If you dont mind spending a few extra bucks, avoid this store at all costs!!!

Yes, Walmart...as well as most stores have phone service that is lacking. This is because the store managers are given a minimal amount of hours for help and they have to "stretch" those hours. Often there are not enough people to service customers at the counters and answer phones. I have had to wait on phone calls to this particular Walmart but every person that I eventually got to talk to was polite and product savvy. In the "perfect world" there would be someone sitting behind each counter just to take phone calls...but in the perfect world there would never be traffic jams on freeways at rush hours. In my opinion, this Walmart does an outstanding job with customer service. Their store manager personally assisted me on the phone at Christmas and helped clear-up a question that I had about online ordering of cameras...versus their store prices. He personally went back to the camera department and pulled a camera for me and called me back at my home number. To me, that was service way beyond the norm. I spend thousands of dollars a year at this Walmart and am happy with the service that I receive. Chronic-complainers have to realize that we are living in the "real world" and that phone calls will sometimes get put on hold and, unfortunately, be the last to be serviced....depending on how busy people are in the store. I worked in retail store management for 20 years (not Walmart) so I know what I am talking about. Learn patience and realize that the help is stretched very thin in most stores....give them a break when they finally answer the phone...I can guarantee that it is just as frustrating for them to hear their phone ringing and ringing and no one to answer it.

If anyone has anything horrible to say about this Walmart, then go for it. But what you need to realize is-- this Walmart is on, and is actually across the street from a College campus. Two of them in fact. Not to mention, BYU is down the hill about 5 miles. There are more than 15 college housing establishments in a 2 mile walking distance from this store, that to our connivence its open 24/7. Yes, they might lack certain products, especially on Saturday nights and Holidays. But they do stock their shelves every single night, they do have Cashiers and Customer Service Managers that do care very much about their customers. But if you expect to walk in on a Tuesday (Double-Coupon-Tuesday) for a loaf of bread and expect to be in and out in 5 minutes, then youre certainly wrong. Its in a high traffic location, where there is a lot of business all day/night long. In other aspects, they did just complete a remodel of their store, they re-painted everything, re-did 95% of the registers and put in new self checks. They re-did garden, photo, sporting goods, pharmacy, grocery and produce to make it more appealing and up to date. So if you are a little butthurt that you had to wait an extra 10 minutes while the lady in front of you made her price matches and gave the cashier her coupons, then pout away. There is a limited amount of locations available in Orem/Provo area open all night, Walmart being one of them and Ive never had a problem with this particular location. (Oh yeah, side note: no beer sales on Sundays ANYWHERE in OREM)
