I have enjoyed the presence of the store for quite some time, but recently came to be especially appreciative of their "American Clay" product. My sister and daughters first saw it in the story, and recommended that I go in and look at it. I was quite taken with the qualities presented by the display. It comes across as very natural, very soft, very calming. It took me awhile to get into how to properly apply the clay but after I and the daughters worked a few hours we got it. (Yes, I finally watched the helpful video of how to apply the clay. I hate taking directions. ha..ha.. ) Once we began to enjoy applying the clay, and then the appearance we decided to expand the area to be covered. We ended up doing the entire room and then moved to an important stand-alone wall in our main floor. The wall became so stunning that we put in additional lights to show it off, as well as a new beautiful painting of a 17th Century woman standing against the clay wall. Of course the people of the store and the values they represent are wonderful, but most of you know this, thus I wont bore you with my high regard for them.

My husband and I began a kitchen and media/music room remodel 6 months ago. We initially researched cabinets, countertops, flooring, etc. with 2 major big box stores. However, we soon became discouraged at the high cost and mediocre quality of their products. A friend asked me if I had ever considered GBS. Although they are located in our home town, my husband and I just assumed that their costs would be prohibitive and their selection limited. Boy, were we wrong! When we entered their showroom, I knew immediately that this was going to be an experience I would enjoy. The clean, open design of the room was arranged in a way that made selection easy, not overwhelming. The staff quickly helped us find just what we were looking for at a price that was lower than the big box stores. The entire GBS staff was always available to answer questions and address concerns. Although the kitchen and music room are now complete, we will soon begin remodeling our bathrooms. Its great to know that this time we dont have to look any farther than GSB for our remodeling needs.

I ordered Forbo Desktop Marmoleum for the restoration of a 1950s Tanker desk. Green Building Supply is the only place I could find this product, after an extensive search. I was intrigued about color options and they provided me with several samples at no charge! Who does that?!? The think I liked the most was that I was able to order a very small quantity, just slightly more than what Ill need for my project. Im very pleased with the customer service and ordering experience. The only reason I ranked my experience a 4, instead of a 5+, is because of the shipping process. While shipping was affordable and quick, my item arrived with several marks on the finish side. I should be able to get these marks out, however it took what felt like a perfect experience down a notch or two. Thank you for providing unique products with great customer service!

We bought bamboo flooring for our new house from Green Building Supply 4 years ago. It was laid by them. Very soon after that it began to squeak. They told us that it needed time to settle into place. Now, 4 years later it squeaks worse than ever. About 2 years after we had first complained, they came and made measurements of temperature and humidity, the results of which were never given to me. After another set of complaints, they informed us that the company manufacturing the flooring had gone bankrupt and that another company had bought what was left and that any warranty was no good. We then asked Green Builders what they thought we should do. We have had no response. After 4 years of this, we have concluded that this firm feels absolutely no responsibility for this product that they sold us or the service that they provided in laying it.

My wife And I ordered 6 gallons of chestnut-colored QuartzLock2 grout. Green Building Supply called to inform us they were out of that color and it would take three weeks to ship it from the manufacturer to them and from them to us. We didnt want to cancel the order and we didnt have the money to expedite the shipping, so we agreed and resigned ourselves to extending the deadline for our tiling project. However much to our surprise, the grout was delivered the following week, directly from the manufacturer. My wife and I are extremely grateful to both Green Builing Supply and the grout manufacturer for taking it upon themselves to go the extra mile to help us out. We are very impressed and will definitely consider Green Building Supply for our future home improvement needs.

Without issues with moldings this review would have been full five stars. My order was Kahrs flooring and matching stair nosings. Ordering process was easy and staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Floors arrived as promised and were top notch. Stair nosings were made to order and took few days took longer than promised to arrive. The issue which I discovered too late was the grooves on the stair nosings which did not match the floor planks! On a tight schedule could not wait for new batch so ended up carving the grooves on the planks to match. Notified the store about the issue but never heard anything back. If you are on a schedule and cannot afford the potential back and forth because of quality issues think twice before ordering moldings from Green Building Supply.

The materials arrived in a timely fashion. However, I ordered a supply of caulk for use on a project and specifically ordered an almond color. Green Building Supply sent it in white which, while not absolutely critical, required some explanation to the client and was not what Id ordered. If Id had more time, I would have sent it back and asked for it to be replaced with what Id actually ordered. Im very much in favor of using these products and am fully prepared to justify the higher costs to clients and basically anyone who will listen. However, I do think that we need to be extra diligent to keep people from just giving up and going back to the old, toxic, environmentally disastrous products that have been in use for decades. Great resource for products and information. However, as the home owners making purchases for our local contractors (building our new home), we did not know what questions to ask and as a result, we were sold the wrong product (concrete form release) for our contractors type of form. It was discovered too late for a return/reorder, and we ended up going with the contractors standard, unhealthy product. I think if a professional builder were ordering products, their expertise would have guided them to a successful purchase. Also, we experienced several days of delay waiting for returned phone calls. Still, overall, this store is a SUPER resource with high quality products, and a wealth of information. Thank you very much.

Love Green Building Supply! I had a question about what kind of oil/finish to use on an old-growth redwood countertop that will be exposed to water and sun. I had done a lot of research before I contacted GBS, but couldnt find a product that really fit the bill. Julie got right back to me by email with a recommended product and also, called me right back when I had further questions about it. Ended up getting the product (AFM Oil Wax Finish) and paid almost as much again in shipping charges, but I think its worth it for the excellent customer service. Green Building Supply has a new customer for the long haul.
