8/20/2014 I normally do not write review but I have had two purchases from this location. the first was as described in the latter portion as my latest transaction has been nothing but exceptional. After I contacted the dealership a second time talking to Jamie Manderscheid who is the general sales manager who gave me a wonderful package all considering. Even after a flat truck tire on the interstate knocked out my fog light and broke it with 700 miles on it Jamie was exceptional.. To add to that Marc Wand took apart my front bumper cover and repaired it in lightning fast time. They went the extra mile this time and is why i am giving them such positive reviews after the initial debacle described below 11/29/2013 .. People have to know the truth about this place. I was told that I would be charged $500 down payment to procure a vehicle from another dealer. They charged me $1000 instead. As of 3 months later I still have not received my registration, title,or my $500 valued owner rebate. All modes of contact have not been responded to. After I finally got a hold of Bobby Hoyer and Adam Mccarron he only responded when he realized he lost my registration but not my title I sent him via USPS and vial email. Than threatened me with collections if I did not send another electronic version. Once they have your money they will stay away..DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE !!!!

I usually do not write a review about any experiences, but I thought it might benefit someone else when it comes to purchasing a vehicle. I traded in 2 vehicles for a 2010 Buick Enclave at Dubuque Auto Plaza. It is a very nice vehicle, however in the first 2 days of owning it, the power steering pump went out, and coincidentally the owners manual was flagged to the power steering page. We fixed it and moved on because these things happen. A week later the Enclave was back in the shop needing new brakes and rotors...said their service department; which warranty does not cover. Brakes and rotors should not and do not go out in less than a months time. They refused to help with any of it. Next, they mis-calcualted on the final payoff amount by $400, so they expected me to cut a check, after they said they credited us $100. Also, they didnt follow thru with anything they said. Usually, when you purchase a vehicle, they factor in tax, title, and license. This was not the case here....I bought the Enclave in March and have to pay another $500 in May. I do apologize this is long, but throughout my entire experience with Kruse-Warthan, no one returns phone calls, or has treated me the way a customer should be treated. For that, they will never receive any of my business again, and hopefully none of yours. Thanks for listening!

This is my second time buying a vehicle from Dubuque Auto Plaza and I would definitely consider doing it again. The first vehicle I bought, in 2013, had some mechanical issues but the were upfront about the problems when selling the vehicle. They gave excellent price and I got a vehicle that I drove for almost three years and put about 60,000 miles on. This time, I am in Louisiana and had to send my mom an dad to do all of the legwork and actual purchasing of the car. They allowed them to take it to my uncle 40 miles away, a mechanic, to have it checked out and allowed them to keep it overnight because they wouldnt make it back in time without rushing. The car had a couple minor issues (what used vehicle with over 100,000 miles doesnt), but they were willing to negotiate the price down a little so the vehicle wont cost me much more after the repairs than the original asking price. Every time I have dealt with Dubuque Auto Plaza, they sales people have been extremely helpful and they seem to be more interested in selling you a vehicle that will meet your needs than just selling you any vehicle.

My husband I were there in January 2009 to buy a used car, and this dealer really ripped me off. I should have researched about cars more before I went there, but I was in rush because of the planned move to another state. Anyways, I paid $13000 for a used car and drove across the state. I asked the sale rep to give me a better deal, and he started getting upset saying that this car is a great deal already. The brake started squeaking within 3 days after my purchase of this car, which I paid $400 to fix. The dealer also did not tell me that the car was owned my a smoker before, and the smell was masked well when I was test driving. Now every time I turn the a/c on, all you can smell is cigarette smell. I finally could not stand it and traded the car in at another dealership. The staff at another dealership felt so sorry for me because they really think I got ripped off big time with Kruse-Warthan. They told me that the car was worth $9000 and that I should no have paid any more than that. So dont shop there unless you want to lose your money. I am serious.

We heard about Adam, the Nissan Guy, from my brother in law Mike Skahill. He told us, when we needed a car, to talk to Adam first since Adam was right to the point, did not waste time, and got him the best vehicle and there was no haggling involved. We decided it was time to trade my wife’s 2004 vehicle. Although we had no idea what we specifically wanted, we stopped by Dubuque Auto Plaza and met Adam. We told him what features we would like, how much we wanted to spend and what we had for a trade in. He explained the process and took notes on what we wanted. Since it was getting late, we set up a time the next day to actually look at cars. We met the next morning and Adam had a car with all the options that met our needs and at a great price. Adam was personable and professional. He listened to us and found exactly what we wanted. He never made us feel rushed or pressured and answered all of our questions. We now have a new car and have made a good friend. We will purchase our next vehicle from Adam. Dave & Mary Benedict Dubuque, Iowa

DID NOT RETURN MY $500 DEPOSIT AFTER I CALLED AND CANCELED THE PURCHASE ORDER. I CONTACTED THEM LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER ORDER WAS PLACED. I live in Chicago, IL. I saw an online ad of a $1700 Ford F-150 pickup and decided to contact the dealer Kruse-Warthan Dubuque Auto Plaza. After asking a few questions about it I decided I would like to buy this truck, I asked how I could buy this truck and then drive to pick it up in Dubuque,IA. I spoke with one of the sales guys named TYLER who told me to put a $500 deposit and then pay the other $1200 upon arrival... Well after hanging up the phone I reviewed the truck ad further and realized this was a MANUAL/STICK SHIFT truck and NOT a Automatic, I quickly contacted them and stated I could not complete the purchase beacuse I was unable to DRIVE a MANUAL truck. However, they insted tried to convince me to buy it and DID NOT RETURN MY $500.
