(Too bad theres not a rating lower than one star) I have been shopping at G&L Clothing since I was in high school, since it was on Locust St - 35 years maybe? I walked in wearing three items purchased at G&L. Today, for the first time, I attempted to exchange something - a pair of Dickies carpenter jeans. I bought the same size as the other Dickies jeans I’ve been buying there for decades, but this pair is too tight. I was told that G&L would not exchange the jeans because I washed them. I was under the impression you HAD to wash jeans to return them. And as far as that "Buy Local" mantra here in Des Moines? Screw that, too. I just looked on Ebay and there are 41 listings for Dickies jeans in my size, as low as $99 cents. Jim Marcovis – hope you got a good look at my a$$ as I left, because that’s the last you’re going to see of me.

12/6/16 - I emailed the owners with my complaints and they were very apologetic. They are now aware of the issues and have promised to correct it. Great selection. POOR SERVICE! I have been a lifelong customer of G&L. In my last several visits, their customer service, particularly the female cashiers, have been unpleasant & only put minimal effort into helping customers. I have left the store feeling as though I am an inconvenience to them. I will no longer be patronizing this business because of their poor service and inability to make the customer their first priority. Skip yourself some frustration and go to I Work & Play on 8th Street in WDM instead.

Been to g&l most of my adult life cause Im a big guy. 10 to 12 years ago customer service was excellent even had a guy had strong accent that helped me out and took measurements for any of my needs. Thats what brought me back over the years,but it slowly has gone down hill...and I almost feel like a criminal the way Im treated by staff now. Asked a question to which I got an answer but their was definitely an attitude undertone with giving a simple answer..so heard of a few new big and tall stores around town. G&l has my allegiance NO MORE!!

On February 23 the service was exactly as described in earlier reviews: poor and none with a lot of attitude. A customer asked one of the women behind the counter for some help with an item but she refused to leave the desk because "There are just 2 of us & I cant leave the counter." There were very few customers among the loaded crowded racks. No one was at the counter to check out but neither of the 2 employees behind the counter would leave it to help a customer on the floor. Very poor service.

We go here for all my boyfriends clothes for work, casual and dress. As a tall, larger man (5X tall shirts, 54/32 pant) he has difficulty finding decent priced clothes. Here he is usually able to find a good deal. For example, he got a nice Carhart shirt for $25 (regularly $45) that he loves and looks quite handsome in. The older gentleman that works here can size you up right in a few seconds and van find you a great deal in your size without asking. Not many retail workers like that any more.

I actually like shopping at G&L clothing. I would give a 5 star if a couple of the women there wasnt so rude they are rude rather your asking a question about clothes with no price and as well as if you ask where items are in the store. I work at a place where we get a discount the lady who has been there for a long time is very rude when asking questions about the discount and ringing up my purchase. The clothes are also higher in price then other stores with same brand and quality.

I bought a pair of work boots and they didnt last 6 months before they wore out. I just left the store and they basically said too bad not there problem. So I guess they dont stand behind there products. I will be going back to red wing to buy my boots from now on, the last pair I bought there lasted 2 years. If I could give them no stars I would

Awful, and insulting!!! My husband was told by a male sales clerk that Carhart and G &L Clothing doesnt like short people so they dont carry his size. He was so insulted and disrespected he made us all leave the store without purchasing anything. He vows never to return to the store. Beware, bigotry is not funny.

Had to return a pair of timberlands and the gental man in the sho department, was very helpful even showed me yhe socks i was looking for very freindly. When i was checking out the that guy was awesome very nice and also helpful. Didnt get there names but will deff be going back.

A star is too much for them. They have an attitude problem, no patience at all, and terrible custumer service. People that I know have said they have been treated the same. I guess I wanted to have my own experience and of course I wont go black.

Local business that serves the community. I need tall pants and this place carries them in every brand. Good prices on Carhartt and Levis. I buy all my clothes here. If youre taller or wider than average, this is the place.

Went to G & it was just two minutes before closing but they let a lady in and told me that they were closed, the lady was right in front of me just 2 seconds difference, I waited and she took 10 minutes I only needed 5!
