I have never been more disappointed in a purchase in my life. I purchased a new Harley Davidson 1200 Custom on May 9th. It is currently August 11th, and I do not have my bike. Parts are still backorder. If there was an option to return the bike I would take it in a heart beat. Full story: I took the Harley Davidson Riders Academy the weekend before May 9th. I got my license May 9th, and went to HD of Indy to purchase a motorcycle. While taking a test ride, I had a small accident. The accident was my fault, I fully admit that. I took a turn to wide and hit the center median. It was mostly cosmetic damage, and since the ride was great, and I ended up purchasing the bike anyway. This was my first mistake. I added the repair parts to the cost of the bike, and added it all together. At the time, I was told this would take maybe two weeks to get the parts and get everything installed. When two weeks went by and I had not been contacted, I called to get a status update. They told me one of the parts was backordered about 2 weeks. This part was backordered until June 14th. Up to this point I didnt have many issues with HD of Indy themselves, I realized this was a failure on Harley Davidson. I was originally told, that once the part came in on the 15th, I would be added to the back of the service line, and it would take another week to get repaired. After expressing my concern about not being on the service line since I ordered the parts, they managed to find a way to get me in line sooner. A few days later I got a call from the service department, telling me that they found the front wheel was bent also, so it would need replaced. Since I purchased the wheel and tire warranty, it would be covered under this warranty. However the rim was also backordered. It has been constantly pushed back from that time on. It is currently sitting at August 18th, however I have zero faith that Harley will deliver. During the time, I have needed to initiate every communication to HD of Indy to find out the new backorder date. When I went in to speak to the parts manager to see if there were other options, I was treated like I was a giant inconvenience. This has been my experience since I purchased the bike. As a result of this experience, not only will I never purchase another Harley Davidson, but multiple friends who are in the market for motorcycles have expressed they will also avoid Harley Davidson and HD of Indy.

The HD of Indy today is not the same as it was a few years ago, and I am thankful for that. A few years ago I had my fill of the poor and lack of service I used to receive so I wrote a very bad review about the dealership. It wasn’t just a one time bad experience but was a continued bad experience on several occasions. David Dellen contacted me upset about the poor service I had received and let me know that something would be done. Later that weekend Donna Dellen talked to me and let me know that there would be “personnel and substantial changes” made and that no one should be treated that way in a business she owns and runs. Present day I can say that David and Donna kept their word. HD of Indy has made a complete 180 being customer friendly and service oriented. My experience there now? I owned an Ultra Classic that just wasn’t the bike for me. After entering the dealership and talking to Josh he pointed me towards a bike he thought I would like….and I did. It is a Heritage Softtail and I couldn’t be happier. Josh listened to what I wanted out of a bike and took me to what exactly I wanted. So if you want a bike, new or used, see Josh! He will fit you with exactly you want! I also had the privilege of meeting and working with Matt for financing which was very painless. I also met Danny in Parts and Service who was able to recommend some upgrades for my future needs if I desired. In fact I have been in several times talking to Danny with different questions and he has always been patient in explaining, or looking up, parts for me. And of course I can’t forget Sammi in Apparel. She is a breath of fresh air with all the men in the shop lol. But she rides too so don’t let her innocent look fool you! I was so pleased with my experience that I took my son in who not only worked with Josh as well but was able to get the bike of his dreams too! So now my son and I can enjoy rides together now and in the future. Overall the experience has been pleasing above words. I thank the staff and especially Donna and David for taking to heart that their customers matter and doing something about it. I will definitely be a life time customer.

Just a note to say how impressed I am with the level of service, commitment, and care that I receive from every aspect of this dealership. Lately, I have been seeing the guys in service and parts often as I make changes and modifications on my bike this winter. Every experience has been a good one and on several occasions, they have directed me in a path that was easier, and better than my original intent. I appreciate the advice when I was doing a few things beyond my usual comfort level and I am very happy with the results. Just before the snow came in December, the service department created a new motor for me and incorporated performance components that I had built into the original motor. I have every reason to believe this one will also go 135,000 miles. Thanks to the guys in the Service Department and Parts Department that played a part in making my bike rumble once again. I appreciate your dedication to creating this motor and in your advice on the best components to use. The motorclothes department is second to none and I also appreciate the excellent help that I get from Amy and her staff. They have never failed to help me find what I am looking for and have often gone the extra mile to order something when I just had to have it. I will probably never be Bretts biggest customer in Sales (my bike is a 1999), but I appreciate the effort that he has invested in building the Sales Staff. All are solid professionals that are focused on matching the best bike to the bikers wishes. I am impressed with the growing number of bikers that tell me they have come from far and wide to buy and trade with Harley-Davidson of Indianapolis. Thanks to the Dellens for the direction they have taken the dealership. I look forward to the coming years and the many miles.

I went to check on the service for my Ultra and found a used bike on the floor that I really liked. Got to talking to Pete about the pros and cons to trading up. Pete give me a lot of help in deciding, not just a sales pitch now, but good solid facts and figures. Boy I really liked this bike and I think I should talk to the wife, because if Im going to ride this Street Glide makes good sense. She agreed it was sound thinking and want to see the bike. So we headed back. Pete seen us and was right on top of it with all the figures he had come up with. Well it was off to see Jeff and these two guys went out of their way to see I had what I wanted. We done the deal and the bike was marked sold. wow The boss there at Indy Harley needs to be proud of Pete and Jeff, because these two guys,( I had never met) seems like old friends and buddies. If an idea was good they agreed and if I came across with a not so good idea they showed me why is was off and the way to go. All and all this Sept. 9 was a great day for me and I have to give credit to Pete and Jeff. Thank you Guys and I think youre 5star people. There was a lot of other people helping me too, such as the parts man finding what I ask for, The lady they loaned me to show me around and see I had what I needed. Just a great visit and a good deal. Cant ask for more than that. Youre all good people. Thank you all.
