Lifestyle Cycle (no "s") is a new shop in Libertyville. The shop is a labor of love and passion, and is owned by Fred and Jessica Kuehn. While the shop is brand new, Freds experience is extensive, having been a staple of several North Shore bike shops. He is widely known for his incredible mechanical skills, as well as his passion for cycling, and his love of grilled meat and strong coffee! The premise of the shop, as the name implies, is to make cycling an active part of your lifestyle: whether you are a hard-core commuter, occasionally take your hybrid bike to the farmers market, enjoy hitching your bike trailer up and towing your kids around the neighborhood, gathering early on weekend mornings for a sixty mile "suffer-fest" averaging 22 mph, or riding countless miles on the Des Plaines River Trail to get in shape for the upcoming cyclo-cross season...your reasons are your own and are part of your lifestyle. I absolutely recommend that you stop by the shop to see Fred and Company; they sell Giant, Seven Cycles, and Pure Fix bikes (with more brands to be announced) and have a bright, uncluttered showroom, with coffee always brewing. If you need your mountain bike tuned up, want to see about having some wheels custom built for your dream road bike, or need to consult with Fred in order to see about sizing and ordering your own custom Seven Cycles dream bike, it is all easily attainable at Lifestyle Cycle. The shop is family-friendly and you wont get an elitist attitude, so whatever your needs or desires are, as far as cycling is considered, make Lifestyle Cycle part of your lifestyle.

Im only giving this place 5 stars because there isnt an option for 6. I was on the receiving end of a hand-me-down kid bike from my co-worker, that had a broken piece at the brake lever. I stopped by after work, Fred took a look at his bag of parts but couldnt find the exact size needed since it was an older model bike - and they dont commonly use that size anymore. He was able to pull a spare part off a "donation bike" in the basement and hooked me up with what I needed. He noted another broken component on the front brake, and had it ready for me the next day for a surprisingly low price (he didnt even charge me for the used part that was my initial focus). The entire staff is friendly, but Fred the owner knows his bikes (it shows), loves bikes (it shows), and provides excellent, friendly customer service. Hes got a customer for life - I highly recommend this place!

The first time I went to this store was to get my bike assembled out of the box. This is a family owned bike shop. Right when you walk in and talk to Fred(owner) you will know this is store you would always want to come back. He always gives you good options, instructions and recommendations. I am very glad to have such a bike store near me. Very knowledgeable staff. They are not commercial but rather helpful and informative. Unlike the big bike chain stores the services are offered at a very good reasonable price. I definitely recommend this store for rookies and experts. Another good thing I like is that they are open 7 days a week

We came to Lifestyle Cycle to purchase a new big for my 8 year old son. Fred and Jess were so helpful in not only helping us find a great bike at a good price, but they also took my son out in the back alley to try the bikes out to ensure he was comfortable on them. I am sure you can find lower end brand bikes for less money at big box stores, but you wont find the high quality, genuine caring for the right fit, or the expertise at those places. I will definitely be back to Lifestyle Cycle when my daughter outgrows the bike she has now! Thank you for a great experience and wonderful customer service!

After experiencing Lifestyle Cycles first hand- We will never purchase a bike "off the shelf" again. Hands down, these are the best Bikes we have ever bough, but honestly, its more than just the hardware with these guys. When you purchase your bikes from owner Fred, you are also getting an insane amount of attention, knowledge, service and expertise. You get the feeling they are really vested in your satisfaction with the entire experience! It gave us confidence in our purchases and our decision to make a meaningful investment in our riding.

I am the Assistant Manager at the Sparrows Nest Thrift Store and Donation Center in Mundelein. We received a racing bike from a donor and it was missing a seat and needed air in the tires. I took it to Fred at Lifestyle Cycle to have him replace the seat, so the bike would be complete. I was going to pay to have the seat replaced, but to my surprise he donated the seat, filled the tires and gave me info about the bike. Fred is a super nice guy and is very generous! Thanks so much from the Sparrows Nest and our charity Home of the Sparrow!

Its been a long time since Ive been to a business that was run so well. They fixed issues with my bike as a result of another shops work. Im a gearhead but new to cycling and they were completely open and willing to discuss everything that was being done. Not only a passion for cycling and a depth of knowledge but also very honest. We talked about potential services and I was actually told to wait and defer them for sometime when they would be more effective. Really happy to have found this place!

The absolute best place to go to repair bikes and buy bicycles too. The staff is super nice, friendly and very knowledgeable. When you are in the market to buy a bike, think of Fred and Jessica. They really care for their customers and their in depth knowledge will guide you in the right direction. I am so glad they opened their own shop in Libertyville on the corner of Milwaukee & Lincoln. Fantastic store, professional staff and amazing selection of custom bikes too! Thumbs Up!!

My husband and I are novist riders and were looking to get to the next level. We did our research and went to Life Style Cyles last weekend. The salesman was great. He listened to our likes, dislikes and goals. We bought 2 bikes and had a wonderful Labor Day Ride! I noticed the store was kid friendly-iPad, books,etc-and brought my 3yr old in the next day for her first bike. Myself being in customer service I love that I did not feel over sold and will be back!

THIS is how a locally-owned business should operate. I came in as a total novice and was treated with complete respect and patience as all my questions were answered and was put under no pressure whatsoever. Bought an amazing cyclocross bike and had feel totally confident that I can come back with any questions or issues in the future. Fun and friendly atmosphere with a tremendously knowledgeable staff.

Fred, the owner, is friendly, smart, and fair. I needed to have a crank arm that was stripped repaired. Not only did he complete the repair on a busy Saturday (WHILE I WAITED), he also charged me $5 less than he quoted on the phone. Service like this is so rare today that I was just blown away. Best bike shop in Lake County.
