Because our regular breakfast spot in Shorewood was too busy, we decided Cracker Barrel would be a second option. What could go wrong at Cracker Barrel to warrant a 1 star review you ask... Well, upon ordering the chicken fried steak breakfast smothered in gravy with a side of biscuits n gravy I waited in anticipation for my Saturday morning indulgence. The meals arrived timely enough, but I was greatly left disappointedly as my order was bare of any gravy, a clearly significant component of my meal. The waiter presented my incomplete meal without a second thought to my preference and implied I should start eating and could expect the gravy portion to arrive in about 15 minutes. When told unacceptable, he then suggested instead of the sausage gravy that I ordered, a substitution of brown gravy. My thoughts..."who the in f*** eats brown gravy on their biscuits?" All I am left asking is why they couldnt waited to complete my meal before serving it? Why wasnt I alerted of the gravy shortage before my meal was served? Clearly Cracker Barrel cares little about the quality of their meals or the happiness of their customers. My advice... do not go here. Save yourself some frustration and head to the McDonalds next store instead. (p.s., beyond my personal experience, my two guests also received the short end of the stick including pancakes with no syrup. and after dropping of the meals we received no refills or attention from the wait staff.

We were there today and our server was Jude. Jude is a new server. We placed our drink and food order at same time. Drinks came about 5 minutes later with hardly any ice which is not good if your having ice tea. Asked for glass of ice 3 times for the tea. It never came until the 4th time we asked about 20 minutes after our drinks arrived. At this time our server realized he never placed our food order! What? 5 minutes later we get biscuits and cornbread, more drinks, and server looks really overwhelmed. Restaurant was not busy. He only had 2 or 3 tables. We finally get our food. We eat and go to pay the check and when asked "how was everything" I had to speak up. Cashier was very concerned and called the manager. She apologized and discounted our check and promised to work with Jude and give him more training. I have never stiffed a server before but tonight I did. We go to Cracker Barrel at least once a month and its a favorite when we are travelling. The service is usually very good. Very disappointed in the server but happy with the rest of the staff. Hope he gets the training he needs.

I usually like cracker barrel. Im a truck driver so have eaten at many across the country. This one by far was the worst I have ever visited. Bathrooms were decently clean is the only positive thing I could say. Most of the staff here is young and you could tell only there for a pay check. You can tell the hostess attitude was fake. Waitress was nice enough but didnt know the difference between fries and home fries. Instead of telling me they didnt have home fries she brought me regular fries. The food had no taste and the sweet tea wasnt sweet. Cashier couldnt count to $16. She had to count it 5 times and still came up with only $15 until I counted out loud with her. By far my worst visit to CB. My 2 favorite so far is Ottawa IL and Findlay Ohio the one by I-75.

To all fellow potential Cracker Barrel customers, DO NOT eat at this particular location! Ive traveled to many states and eaten at many Cracker Barrel restaurants and this is the abosolute worst customer service Ive ever experienced. We walked in and got seated right away, ordered and waited an hour... and still hadnt received our meals. I asked to speak to the manager and she was the most unprofessional, unkind and rude manager Ive ever spoken to. She did not give no explanation as to why we hadnt received our food nor did she express any care or apologies for our extremely long wait. She said she would check on it as she walked away. After waiting a few more minutes we decided to leave- never got served! Do not waste your time!

The waitress tells us that the special of the day is Chicken and Rice with mushroom gravy. When she took our order I ordered the special and she said that they were out of the Chicken and Rice special. I then ordered the Cracker Barrel sampler plate. The Chicken and Dumpling on the sampler plate was cold and the portion of ham on the plate was about the size of a silver dollar. The hashbrown casserole side I orderd looked like it was dipped in a bucket of grease and was also cold. The only thing I could say was good on the sampler plate was the meatloaf. The rest of the meal sucked. Ive been to other Cracker Barrel restaurants and the food and service was always good. That said, I will never go to this Cracker Barrel again.

We HAD been visiting this Cracker Barrel store for breakfast and dinner since it opened in the late 1990s. In recent years all the good servers have left, the cooks mess up the meals most of the time. On more than one occasion Ive talked to the manager and had my bill adjusted for poor food or service...it just seems like there is a big turn around of help by the fact that the Help Wanted sign is always visible outside.There have been many times that weve visited this restaurant and very few cars were in the parking lot, but we waited 45 minutes for our meal after ordering...maybe a management change is in order

First Off I Had To Wait 10-15 For My Waitress To Even Introduce Herself. So She Started Off With Drinks, Waited Another 10mins For 2 Cokes. After Ordering A Cheese Burger And Fries ... CHEESE BURGER AND FRIES I Seen 2 Seperate White Couples Come Get Seated 20 Maybe 30 Mins After I Did Not Only Did The Waitress Approach Them RIGHT AWAY They Received Their Food BEFORE ME So I Waited 45mins For A Cheese Burger And Fries Just So They Could Mess Up My Order I Waited Another 10mins And Left. Not Only That Last Year I Seen A Mouse Running Along The Building .. I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS CRACKER BARREL AGAIN

It wasnt very busy, but still took the server a while to get our drink orders. The food was ok. My bf got the bacon burger and enjoyed it. I got the chopped steak with mushrooms and swiss. It was bland, even with the toppings. The biscuits are really good and I love the sweet tea, because I lived in Florida for many years and no one up here seems to get it right, but they do. I wish the cornbread was sweet, but Im spoiled and thats just how I make it. It wasnt terrible. I think if I go back, I will try something else.

We were a party of 5 seated at 5:30 pm but left at 7pm. No food was ever served. Were told 3 times our food was coming soon. Spoke with the manager and 2 dinners were going to be complimentary. Couple behind us had to get their meal to go. Plenty of wait staff but werent told they were short on cooks until 45 minutes in. No bread or salads to help us in the long wait. Weve never had this happen here before
