I had an awful experience buying a futon from this place. Apparently they make a living from ripping of customers, and hoping that, being close to a university, they will never need a returning customer. I have seen only now that delivery and assembly is a serious problem with this store, and I am not the first one to write this in the reviews; I hope others will read the reviews first, and not make the same mistake. In short: I was delivered a broken frame, a different color mattress, and a slip mat that I was supposed to get with the previous two items was not delivered at all. The stores approach to conflict resolution was to do nothing until I finally told them I would reverse the credit card charge -- then they threatened me with the county police. The issue with the broken furniture really wouldnt have bothered me, I have got (and exchanged or returned) defective items before. The deliveryman could have taken it the next day and dropped a replacement, and I would not have had a single complaint. The unbelievably unprofessional delivery service and the rudeness and ignorance of the salesman (owner?) are the reasons for this "zero-star" review. The details. Tuesday: futon and mattress I bought the previous Friday are delivered and assembled. (Side note: the delivery charge is ten dollars higher than what I was told in the store -- and, of course, payment is cash only and I get no receipt.) Futon is broken, and cannot be converted to sofa or bed. The mattress is black instead of white. The delivery guy makes a note of the part that needs to be changed. About the mattress color he offers the options: I either take the black or I have to wait indefinitely for a white, while I cannot return the frame. So I take the black mattress, and we make an appointment for the next day so he can come and fix the frame either. I dont get a slip mat to be put under the mattress, even though its on the order sheet, but at this point thats the least of my problems. Wednesday: the delivery guy doesnt show up, and does not even bother to call. When I call, we make an appointment for the next day. Thursday: the delivery guy doesnt show up again, but this time he cals s fifteen minutes before he is supposed to come. He tells me he is not coming, and that he has no idea when and how the frame will be fixed. I go to the store to complain, and the salesman (owner?) claims he hears about the problem from me for the first time. (Im not sure which one is worse: if hes telling the truth or if he isnt?) He makes a few phone calls, but gives no assurance that problem will be resolved promptly, if at all. I hear that their return policy is "no returns" even if they didnt deliver the right product, or if they deliver a defective item. Quote: "we delivered, and I am not going to argue about the specifics". (?!) At this point I tell him I will have the credit card charge reversed, they can take back both the futon and the mattress, if the unusable frame is not fixed promptly. His answer is that he will send the county police after me and the futon if I dare. Later the shopkeeper calls again to tell me that by Monday theyll have the parts and fix everything. Monday: delivery guy calls, we make appointment for Tuesday. Tuesday: delivery guy calls that he will be late, then he doesnt show at all, and doesnt answer the phone. By now Ive been having the broken futon for a week, and had phone calls or waited for the delivery guy every single day! I was thinking of waiting with posting this until the problem is resolved, but it seems this is a never-ending story. I will update it once the issues are resolved.

We recently purchased a pair of Ashley brand loveseats from the friendly duo of Avis and Debbie at the Evanston location. The price was better than the exact same items on sale from the Ashley store. They arrived sooner than promised, and were beautiful and very comfortable. They replaced a more expensive sofa and love seat from Room & Board that looked good, but didnt hold up (foam cushions got way too soft). This is our 4th purchase from this store, and will not be the last. Thanks for a wonderful buying experience!

We paid in full for 3 pieces of furniture over a month ago and were promised that they will be arriving within a week of payment. After a week, only 1 piece arrived. The store owner asked us to "come back next week to pick up the rest" - this happened for 3 consecutive weeks, and still no furniture. Finally, after a month of waiting, we asked for a refund. What a waste of time!
