My husband and I visited Ace Hardware on a Friday around 7:24 pm, since he had just gotten home from work and this is my only day off. A couple of employees were bringing in the gas powered equipment that was out in front of the store. We were there to potentially purchase a lawn mower, but wanted to browse a bit to ensure making the right decision. We walked over to one of the remaining lawn mowers out front, which was one of the ones we were considering. We ask the young fellow standing by, about the mower, as well as the price to which he responded, I dont know. Then an older man who seemed very angry said the price could be found on the ones inside the store, because the price tags on the ones outside get stolen as soon as they put them on there. As my husband and I entered the door of the shop, the angry older man stated "We close in 3 minutes", which immediately made me want to go to my car and leave. I then noted the time as 7:24 pm and realized that they must close at 7:30 pm. I was unaware of this when, we left to go to the store. I do understand closing time and have worked in retail and customer service positions myself. I now work in health care and would be fired for this sort of behavior. I am not looking for anyone to get fired, but I think customer service is becoming extinct. This makes me sad because I want to support local businesses, but I cant and wont shop at a place I dont feel comfortable. That being said, We approached the lawn mower department and were greeted by James. James was a very knowledgeable young gentleman and he greeted us with a smile. He ask us questions to better help us in our quest. He proceeded to educate us on the variety of lawn mowers and guide us in making the best decision for our needs. As he is providing this great customer service, we can still hear the older angry man grumbling as he continues to shut the store down, making announcements and turning off the lights. At this point, we have made a selection and are in the process of finalizing our purchase and leaving. I informed James that I had a Ace Rewards account and I heard the older angry man mutter something about no being able to use it. I wasnt aware that it could only be used for certain things which I really could care less about but I think its funny. My husband and I joked about it on the way home saying that its like having a frequent flyer card, but not being able to use it on domestic flights. Again, not a big deal just thought it odd. If you are going to spend your hard earned money and you can choose to spend where ever you like. You should be rewarded for choosing Ace. I hope that I have expressed to you what a fantastic job James did at providing us with outstanding customer service. He even seemed empathetic to the repeated announcements regarding the store closing and said he would stay there as long as we needed. We were not looking to make anyone stay late. We did not intend to make anyone upset about us coming to shop at this local establishment. We completed our purchased and spent about $450 of our well earned money to a store that I am somewhat reluctant to return to for future purchases or recommend to any of our family and friends for fear they might encounter a less than satisfactory welcoming and hospitality. I am thankful for James and his knowledge and warm customer service to which I would give 5 stars. I couldnt stop thinking about the entire event after we left with our new purchase thinking about the amount of money we spent in a store where we were met with such disdain. It is not my normal practice to give my business to stores where I am greeted as such. If it were not for James, we would not have bought anything from the store and probably never returned, but because of him we might consider it, but I will be leery.

Worst customer service ever!!!! On my 1st visit I brought in 12x screens to be re-screened and asked that I get 1x brand new screen to match the ones I brought in. I received a call letting me know my screens are ready to pick up. On my 2nd trip I picked up my 12x re-screened screens, was told that thats all they had and no new screen was created. I showed them that on my invoice there was a line item for a new screen. They said they will make it and give me a call. They called me again letting me know my screen is ready. On my 3rd trip I went there and picked it up. When I got home I realized it was the wrong size and they also used the wrong clips. On my 4th trip to the store I informed them that I had received the wrong size and wrong clips. I was very very very clear on what I wanted I also brought in a screen as a template. The template screen I brought in also needed to be re-re-screened because the mesh screen kept falling out. I got a call letting me know my screen is ready. So on my 5th trip to the store today I went in and found that the size was correct but the clips were wrong. Also the re-re-screened screen was exactly the same. I was extemly fed up and didnt want to come back again so I told them to refund the new screen. I spent over $260 at this store and am extemly diapointed. The customer service was very poor some employees didnt even make eye contact with me when I was explaining the situation. Even the screens that were re-screened were done poorly I just didnt want to bring them back. I will never return.

Tried to get two blank keys, supplied by me,(with chips in them) cut at S&S today but they wanted to charge me $35.00 EACH to make them. Saying "you dont bring a steak to a steak house and ask them to cook it". Absolutely absurd. The blank keys I had were from Hourglass Cycles, a Triumph motorcycle dealer in Buford. Hourglass does not have a key cutting machine and S&S clearly does not stock Triumph motorcycle keys with or without chips. Total bogus store policy of charging $35 to cut a blank key with a chip if you didnt buy it from them! I walked out and took my business to my local Ace Hardware store, Hills in Loganville. They charged me $1.79 a piece to cut them and they work perfectly. I am very dissatisfied with S&S Ace Hardware in Buford.

I am very surprised to see any negative reviews. I have been doing business with the Buford Ace for many years and I am always well taken care of. Recently, I needed help with a mini bike project. I was in the process of a rebuild and I could not replace the valve springs on my own. When I brought the pieces to the their shop, not only did they help me but they didnt charge me a dime! I offered to pay however they said it was no trouble and only took the tech a few minutes to install. This speaks volumes in terms of their dedication and service. I will always go out of my way to use this Ace as I am never disappointed. Thanks Buford Ace!!!
