First I must say if way possible to give zero stars I would. I have had just the most dissapointing experience at CITY FURNITURE. I will explain in complete detail. 1. I went to the clearance/corporate location @ 6701 N. Hiatus Road, Tamarac FL, 33321. After two hours of looking my husband and I decided we couldnt afford the leather sectional we really wanted in the clearance section. The sales representative (SR) Johnny Barkley was very helpful. As we were leaving he continued to talk to us in an effort to encourage us to buy the sectional. My husband told him to see if there was anything he could do to bring the price down a bit. He left us and walked about 30ft AWAY from us to look in the system. He walked back over to me and said, " I have great news. Were going to take $400 off for you. I said, "REALLY!" He said, "Yes, but you have to buy it now." I said, "Yeah! Ring it up." My husband went with him to the register while I waited with the kids. 2. After he rang everything up my husband said the savings was actually $350. I thought that was strange since he told me $400, but I thought it was still a good deal so I didnt make a big deal about it and it was already purchased. We agreed to pick it up the next morning. 3. We got there ready to pick up our sectional. After a 20 minute wait the SR Johnny came out to tell us that he forgot to ring up one of the pieces in the sectional and now we would have to buy the piece HE forgot to ring up, which was $350. WHAT!!! I reminded him that he said that he had discounted the unit by $350. He said he was sorry and he didnt noticed he didnt ring up a $350 part and we would have to pay the extra $350 to get the furniture. THAT MEANS THERE WAS NEVER A DISCOUNT TO BEGIN WITH!!! We explained that we didnt have that money and that it was his error not ours. 4. He went for his manager OSMIN ALFONSO. I explained what happened and he said that they are human and Johnny might have scanned incorrectly while speaking with us. I told him we were NO WHERE NEAR HIM while he was scanning the product. He replied and that he cant justify reducing the price by $350 because it was already reduced. I explained we were being punished for their mistake, but he repeated he could do nothing. I told him to give us back our money because we couldnt afford the difference, I had no choice. 5. I called customer service while waiting and the rep told me they could do nothing it was all up to Mr. Osmin. After another 20min waiting in the dock Mr. Osmin DIDNT return. I had to get one of the loading guys to go find him. The loading guy returned with my returned receipt. Mr. Osmin never came back to address us at all. 6. We were stuck. We emptied our living room to make room for this new sectional. Rearranged our entire day to pick up the furniture. Although it was not our fault we were the ones paying the price. And all they could offer us was, "SORRY" I have spent thousands of dollars at this location and this whole experience is so Unethical. I feel like it was a BAIT AND SWITCH! NEVER AGAIN. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL. IF THE COMPANY MAKES A MISTAKE IT SEEMS THEY WILL NOT TRY TO RECTIFY IT IN AN ETHICAL MANNER. AT LEAST NOT IN MY CASE. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED. Now I am scrambling to find furniture to fill my empty living room.

Terrible service and customer service. Bought two chairs that were out of stock. Was told delivery would be in two weeks, had home delivery set up. Was told by sales person that we could call and cancel delivery and pick up ourselves. A couple days before scheduled delivery I called to cancel the delivery and was told chairs had arrived. Customer service said just call 1hr before you are coming and well have them ready. I was not able to pick up the chair for 2 days. Set up a loan of a pick up truck, take time off work and call to notify that I will pick up chairs in 1hr. Revived a call 10 min from the same service rep. to let meet know that actually only 1 is available. When I ask why I was told that the system did not specify. I was told another shipment would arrive in three weeks but I could go and pick up one chair now and another in 3 weeks. Asked to speak with a manager which told me the same thing and that possibly the chair did not pas quality inspection (that made dinner sense) but it did not match what I was told by two other customer reps. The manager promised me that the chair would be available for pick up the next day and that she would personally call me in three when three other arrived. The next day were arranged for a loan of another truck, called to inform we where on our way only to be told that the chair was no longer available. Got the same story that the system didnt say why it wasnt available, maybe it failed quality assurance (this time I did not believe it). I asked why my reserved chair was no longer available and I was told that only furniture set up for delivery was reserved. All other furniture was first come first serve. I asked to speak to another manager and ended up speaking with one of the ruddest, must patronizing worst examples of a manager. She would cut me off, talk back and did not offer to help. End result is I cancelled my $800 order. I found two better chairs at another furniture company for $500. Apparently although you pay City Furniture money for furniture, if you dont pay for delivery then anybody else can come and take the furniture if they get there before you. Full payment in advanced means nothing and doesnt give you any rights to furniture when it arrives at the warehouse. I was told I could wait for next delivery but did not guaranteed I would actually get furniture if others paid for delivery or arrived first. Our sales rep on the floor was the only person that was polite, professional although he could have warned us about the system. Well never do business with City Furniture or any of its affiliates.

Refusal to repair/replace furniture under warranty due to problems resulting from "normal use". My wife and I bought a sofa from City Furniture with the extended warranty plan. The total purchase was around $1,200. Although we have loved the couch in the beginning, it started showing signs of poor wear. The coils/springs have begun to push through the cushions making many areas of the sofa impossible to sit on. Having purchased the extended warranty program that covers repair or replacement for problems with the furniture, we called to arrange a warranty inspection. After inspecting the sofa, the inspector said that he could feel the springs pushing through the cushion top, took some pictures and called a City Furniture representative. His visit took all of 10 minutes at the most and he left after passing me the phone to speak with the rep. The rep. informed me that this is a problem from "normal usage" and it is not considered a manufacturers defect. When I asked about the additional warranty that we purchased, she informed me that it does not cover "normal usage" issues. I just received a follow-up voicemail that informed me of the same, saying that the inspection and pictures did not show any manufacturers defects and that this is a problem of "over usage" and that is the end of the case. Needless to say, my wife and I are extremely disappointed with City Furniture at this point. The unwillingness to correct this problem is extremely frustrating. Both the inspector and the representative I spoke with said that this was a problem of "normal usage". The sofa has only been "used" for the last three years in a house with only my wife and myself. To tell us that there is nothing that can be done because it is from being "over used" and that this is "normal" is incredible. On top of that, we purchased the warranty for just this reason! When purchasing the sofa, the salesperson told us that purchasing the warranty would help us in just this situation....in case there was a problem with it due to normal usage....that the warranty would cover repair or replacement. I am now aware that this claim is completely untrue and that City Furniture does not stand behind the quality of their furniture. I will be following up with the Better Business Bureau and City Furniture Home Office. Although I have lost all faith in the company and no longer plan to be a customer, I will be doing everything in my power to make sure others are aware of this situation so that they may avoid any issues relating to low quality products and warranty scams.
