This is my original email complaint submitted to Boat US against Riva Motor Sports Miami. ------------------------- "To Whom it May Concern, On July 25th, 2014 I went to the Riva Motor Sports Miami, Inc dealership and purchased a new 2014 Yamaha VX Deluxe Jet Ski from sales person ----. While purchasing the watercraft ---- and the finace manager recommended the Yamaha Extended Warranty, which we purchased for an additional $830.76. (Warranty Attached) The watercraft has been used and properly maintained as instructed at day of purchase. On March 5th, 2016 we took the watercraft to Riva Motor Sports for a sale inspection at a cost of $145. At that time, a couple of items showed some damage including an oil leak. So we asked Riva Motor Sports Miami, Inc dealership that same day for them to replace/fix the part still under warranty. They advised that this was not covered by Yahama Warranty because oil changes & maintenance was never done with them. That is something that was never explained at time of Warranty purchase. After some back and forth with the people at the service dept. they advised that fixing the oil leak would not be covered by warranty nor would be fixed by them, that it needed to be fixed by the company who last completed the watercraft Maintenance. However, they offered to complete another inspection for $260 to find out exactly from where the leak was coming from. This is the second incident I have had with Riva Motorsports Miami, Inc. where they refuse to repair previously sold items at their dealership. Not only am I very angry and annoyed that they sabotaged the sale of my watercraft but I am also very disappointed that these people are still in business. I believe Riva Motor Sports Miami, Inc should start taking responsibility for what it sells to its consumers. Attached are copies of all documents provided at time of purchase. I look forward to your reply and a resolution to my problem by March 18,2016 before seeking help from the BoatUSConsumer Protection Bureau. Please contact me at the above email address or by phone at ….. In this email I have copied everyone that has been involved in any way, along with my attorney and the BoatUS Consumer Protection Bureau." ----------------------------- Not only have I had a horrific time with these people since I purchased my watercraft but they have shown complete lack of customer service skills. I would encourage anyone looking to purchase watercraft or anything else these people sell to look somewhere else. Thanks.

Im reluctant about being the one reviewer out of many that bashes an otherwise approved-of business, but I feel that my experience at RIVA was anything but as spectacular as I thought it would be as per the other reviews. I took a day off work to visit various Craigslist individuals selling scooters. My budget was about a $1000 cash for a preowned scooter or a smaller down payment on a new scooter. I stopped by RIVA on my way to a private seller in Cutler Bay just to inquire about what kind of financing I could get on one of their scooters. I was iffy about one of the scooters there (a 125cc YAMAHA Zuma) but was pushed into choosing it by one of the salesmen. I accepted his push on the grounds that I could be told what kind of financing I could receive on this scooter and then keep that in my mind as I checked out other scooters. I repeatedly asked the salesman - as he made me sign off on a credit check application, handed me the keys to the scooter, and wasted my time playing a promotional poker game - if I could simply be told the available offer and then go home with that knowledge, NOT the scooter. More than half an hour later, one of the financial department representatives sat me down in front of an application for a Florida title, at which point I had to tell him my situation and he had to stop the presses by cancelling the battery installation on the Zuma (it was already getting ready to be driven away) and retracting the title application. A week later, I had to stop by a tag agency to register an unrelated automobile and was shown that I now owned that YAMAHA scooter, which had been assigned a tag and title number without my ever signing the title application or receiving the tag or title listed under my name. I personally went to RIVA that weekend and demanded that the tag and title be voided as per the recommendation of a tag agency employee. As of now, the title and tag are no longer under my name; this is good because the employee I demanded the voiding from did not make me a copy of any paper or statement stating that the title/tag would be voided. I have gone to other dealers of automobiles and motorcycles to inquire about financing on a motor vehicle and have never experienced this kind of treatment. Miscommunication between myself and the employees or vice versa, or other factors may have produced this nasty experience, but the point is that it happened and I will seek other motorsport dealers in the future should I have to seek one.

I took my bike in for a diagnostic because I was having electrical issues. They charged me for the diagnostic even after I did the work with them. Charged me for a new battery, stater, regulator, and starter relay. Then they test drove it and said my back brakes were locking up and they needed to change my back caliper. They changed the caliper and according to them the back breaks were still locking up. I didnt have time to argue because I needed the bike for a Panama Beach trip I had lined up. While riding up to Panama Beach my friend noticed my break light was not turning off. We put a little WD40 on the foot pedal and guess what, problem solved. Basically, they didnt check to see if the calipers were bad. They went down a process of elimination bringing the bill up to almost $1500 with the so called discounts I was getting. I will never take my bike back for service at Riva Motorsports Miami and I dont recommend you do either.

These guys are CROOKS! I came in with a co-signer due to identity theft and they say "WE" got approved. I put a down payment for the bike I was buying and signed where they told me to sign. Months later, the finance company issued a "Straw Purchase" repossession saying my name wasnt on the contract. My payments were up-to-date, but as the finance company stated, it was illegal to make a "Straw Purchase" and cancelled the finance contract. These guys knew what they were doing and ripped me off out of my bike that I was paying for. Now I lost my down payment and the bike....These guys should be investigated for their crookedness. They knew a straw purchase was illegal and went through with the paperwork anyway. Im consulting an attorney to get my down payment back from these CROOKS! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

I made a trip on my Spyder RT Ltd last week from Odum Georgia to Key West Florida. On my return trip my bike stopped on Highway one just south of Miami. I called Riva Motorsports and they responded quickly. My bike was repaired and I was on my way again in just 2 days. I was very appreciative of the excellent work done on my bike and in their concern for me as a 72 year old lady out there "on my own". It was a real comfort to see Kevin and Mike go "above and beyond" to get me back on the road. I returned home safely this past Saturday and my bike is running great!!!! I also want to thank the technician who worked on my bike. I am sorry that I did not get to meet Julian Mendez. Julian, you did a great job. Thank you so much. God Bless each one of you for your care and concern.
