I have never been treated so rudely as when I had two keys cut at Gavins Hardware on April 13, 2015 at about 2:40 pm. The first key, a house key, went ok but no comment from the male clerk. The second key was a car key with my own blank. He said, "We dont guarantee it will work and we charge $5". I read online ACE would do the cut and program the chip for $4 so I thought it would be ok even without the guarantee. After the cut, the clerk said, "We dont program the key unless it is our key". I said, "Why didnt you tell me that when I asked for the cut and copy of the chip." He said, "Thats our policy, tough break". Talk about rude. When I went to pay $7 for the two cuts, I told the clerk Patti and she waived the $5 cut so even though ACE wasnt the place with the helpful hardware man, Patti saved the reputation of the store but not my disdain for the inconsiderate rude clerk. I live less than 3 miles from the store, yet it may be some time before the pain heals sufficiently to return. Bob Schlimgen

You know I used to enjoy going to the Gavins Hardware but it seems like all your priced have really gone up a lot. I can remember when all your stainless steel hardware was at a very fair price but the last time I went in there, I was shocked at the outrageous prices. I guess the upper management needed a raise for their new swimming pool or new boat maybe. Let me tell you folks, your bitting off the hand thats feeding you. I find myself going on line and getting what I need at a fraction of the price you people are charging. I dont mind supporting the local businesses but not at the prices your charging. Maybe you can get away with the tourist paying a premium price but we locals arent going to put up with it. Good luck and I hope you stay in business but your not going to get much of me,

Went in to have a key cut. I was advised that they do not guarantee their work. I asked do you charge for it if you make a mistake. They said yes. I stated that it does not make sense to charge for mistakes and was advised that they do so because of the training expense involved in key cutting. I replied that the training must not be that good if they lacked that confidence. The clerk immediately started ignoring me and speaking to the customer behind me. I dont think you can be much more rude than that. I called the store later to complain because I did not want to post a bad review and could only get voice mail. I have not received a call back and its been days so that is what you can expect at this store.

I am shocked by the negative comments about customer service and rudeness. I have lived in the store vicinity for over 12 years and have never had any issues. Gavins has always been a great store to shop. I understand their prices may be more than the typical box store but I am more than willing to pay the increase to support a local business and for the better customer service. But, in some cases, do not be fooled by the big box store, I have found their prices better. Know your products before you purchase.

Spent a half hour looking at swatches to get samples. Once I decided on the 3 samples I wanted, I gave them to the girl at the counter. 10 minutes later she tells me she doesnt have the correct bases and cant make the paint. Tells me I should drive to the Bonita ace. I ask to speak with a manager who asks me to walk to the back of the store because he was too busy to walk to the paint desk. Waited another 10 minutes while he fumbled around in the computer just to get the same answer. "The helpful place" ha!

Every time I come here the staff either ignores you(they like to stand around talking to each other)or are just really rude and unhelpful. I have given this place numerous chances (I like supporting local businesses)but today was the LAST time and I will only go to the "big box" hardware stores(despite them being a drive). All I needed was an air filter and FOUR separate staff members could not be bothered to help me. Poor customer service will not help you compete with the corporate stores.

I was met immediately inside the door by two helpful employees who both greeted me and each one of them asked if they could help me. I was looking for an obscure screwdriver which to my surprise both of the employees knew what it was that I was looking for and were able to take me to it. What a pleasant change from the do-less big box associates and overall experience. I will definitely take the extra time to drive the extra distance to Gavins whenever I can. A+ in my book...

Worst experience with paint department ever. Even the "manager" Andre was completely unhelpful. All I wanted was paint that was a coffee color, ended up.with paint that was purple/gray. Called valapar, they are going to make it right because this horrible place would not. Stay away stay far far away....oh and the cashiers are as slow as a turtle crossing the road. Just a loose loose situation

I dont know what Gavins Hardware store these complainers were in, but it sure isnt the Gavins that I know. Nice people, Im never ignored, and most of the time Gavins will have what ever I am looking fore and I only go to the "big box" stores when I have to. Sadly, some individuals have no idea what it takes to run a small business like this one. Well done Gavins!!

I go to this store a lot. I have only had one bad experience but it was more like the man didnt think my Mom and I knew what we were talking about. Or maybe he misunderstood us. Either way we got the part we needed. Other than that everyone has been very helpful and happy to help.

As Im walking to the register with tools at 5:58 (not realizing they close at 6pm) they come over the intercom and say, "Ace Hardware is now closed, customers please exit the building. Talk about pushy, I just put my stuff back and went elsewhere.

I cannot believe all these comments about no one to help. There are always employees around to help and they dont stop helping until YOU are finished. Love this store and yes some prices are high but reasonable for the location.

Great place to shop for hardware. Short lines. Helpful people. I have found that they have some things the big box stores dont have. I always go to Gavins Ace Hardware first.
