Im going to give you all a quick and in a nutshell review, elaborating in areas that I think might need them and as honest as the day is long. When you enter World Eyeglasses you are noticing a few things at the same time. First, that its a popular place. There are always people there when I go but in my opinion, it doesnt effect the customer service or how fast you get in to see the doctor. Secondly, you will quickly be greeted by warm people that really seem like they are there to help you and not just to get a paycheck. I had the opportunity of interacting with every single person in that office in a one on one and all of them were as pleasant as the next. I had purchased a membership (for lack of better words) the year before that locked in a lower price for my annual exams and discounted frames and lens. I was pleased that they immediately knew I was participating in that and the discounts were automatic. So I mentioned earlier about there being some people in the seats but it doesnt seem to effect your appointment time. Theres a reason for that. These folks have it down. They simply guide you from the front to a couple different offices. The first room is dedicated to your eyes health. They take pictures of the eye, they do the puff of air test that you are never ready for (LOL). Then you go in to see the Doc (I always call Doctors, "Doc". I feel cooler saying it that way). The Doctor is a guy that gets straight to the point. No bad jokes or uncomfortable silences while looking in your eyes (my attempt at more humor). By the time the over sized metal thingamajig comes down over your eyes its almost already right on. In other words, your not sitting there for ten minutes telling the Doctor if 1 is better than 2, and 3 is less than 4 but more than 2. The Doc is professional and fast. Soon after that you are in a seat with a fun and pleasant sales rep (probably called eye care specialists or something IDK) that simply discusses your corrective lens options. I got contacts and glasses. The contacts gave me the best eye site I have had in my life. I am not joking even a little. At least as far back as I can remember. I was in glasses by the 6th grade although i have to admit that those days are getting slightly blurred! HOWEVER, I did have to bring the glasses back for a slightly stronger lens. The contacts were perfect but the glasses needed tweaking. So I called and expressed my concern. I was told and I love the saying "For every problem theres a solution". I heard that and felt that whatever the problem was, It was nothing to worry about. I was back in to see the doc in a few days and they were right, a solution was found. Upon arriving to pick up my glasses I looked at smiling and helpful people that quickly rushed to get glasses on this face. I had picked out the "look 10 years younger pair" but learned that they are the same as the "look smarter pair" by default. I was actually sad leaving the other day. I wanted to stay and hang out a while. I had built a relationship with my eye doctors office. I felt they had remembered me from the year before and I hope they remember me next January. Guess I lied about the "quick and in a nutshell" part from the beginning.

I have finally found a place so horrible that it has made me create a review account. I will try to stick to the facts of the visit and leave out my personal feelings. I arrived at 8:30 for my appointment, filled out normal paperwork, and waited while three other people (who did not have appointments) were called in before me. The paperwork started with the routine up sale to the eye dilation (but not too much pressure). I have insurance that covers the exam and gives me $120 allowance to spend on contacts. After the exam, they had me put a trial pair of contacts in my eyes and then sat me down to explain what I could order (or I thought). They first tried to sell me two pairs of sunglasses. Then they told me about a $400 plan to get contacts. I told them I did not want to spend more then what I had on insurance. The woman then broke down my insurance and their fees. I have $120 allowance, but there is a $70 "professional fee" for the eye exam, which I was told about before the exam and just agreed to because they convinced me this was normal. That left me with $50 allowance. But then the lady added on a $99 fitting fee... I asked what that was for and she said for the "special contacts" I was told to get. I told her I was never informed of that. Usually I use my insurance, get the exam and 6 months supply of contacts, and walk out just paying my co-pay. Now I was paying out of pocket my $10 copay and $50 and only walking out with a prescription ($120-$70-99= -50)?? I told her I did not want the contacts then, just the prescription since I was never told about the extra fees. She acted as if I had knowledge of the extra fee and I asked her nicely to show me where the fee was presented, but she could not. The woman got very frustrated and told me just to go take the contacts out, and I politely obliged. The woman then left me for a few min (to talk to the Doc I suppose) and came back to me. The woman told me that she was sorry they could not help me. I said it was no problem; I just did not want to have surprise fees sprung on me and just wanted my prescription. However, she then refused to give me my prescription and asked me to leave?? I was shocked. I asked her why and she told me that if I did not want these "special contacts" (just an upgraded set) then they could not help me. I was very confused and polite. I ask if I just came in and wanted my normal prescription could I get it, she refused to answer my questions from there and told me they could not help me anymore. I am not a mean or pushy person. I was so flabbergasted by the way this place treated me. My feeling - this place offers great coupons, however beware, this place is very expensive once they add in their extra fees and surprise charges. Beware.

I bought a groupon for an eye exam and contact lens trial pair. Prior to going into my first appointment, I got a bit nervous reading some of the negative reviews. Because of my anxiety due to these reviews, I wanted to write about my experience to help others out. Yes, indeed, there are a few bad things about Dr. Enkers World Eyeglasses, but I definitely think that the pros outweigh the cons. Heres what I can say from my experience: The place is very small and the staff tend to be high energy, so it can get overwhelming if you prefer more quiet situations. This was not a particular problem for me, but I could see how others might not like it. Ive made 2 visits there so far, one for the exam, and one to pick up my new glasses and a trial pair of contacts. Both were on a Saturday. It gets crowded in there! In fact, I didnt have any place to sit for about a minute on one of my visits. I would recommend either going on a weekday, or going in the morning if you must go on a Saturday. Dr Enker did, indeed, speak in monotone...this wasnt a particular problem for me. I have very bad eyes and Im picky about my contact brands, so he had to special order my trial pair, which he did willingly. I worked with 3 different eyeglass staff people (not sure what theyre called), and they were all nice. When I was shopping for eyeglasses I did feel that they were trying to rush me a little, but when I said, "Wait! Im not done looking!" they continued to help me look until I decided that I was done. They have a lot of glasses that are not displayed, so theyll kind of try to figure out what your style is and then might pull out some hidden trays of glasses to help you out. Also, when I picked up the glasses, I felt that they guy adjusting them did a great job. Regarding prices: I typically wait till Sears optical is having a sale and then go there. I would say that at World Eyeglasses I paid a little bit more than I might have during a sale at Sears, but I got 2 pairs for the price of one, so I felt that to be okay. When it comes to contacts, I checked the price at 1800contacts prior to going in and found that if I bought them in "bulk" at 1800contacts, they would have been $40 per box, while at World Eyeglasses, they were $23. Thats a lot of savings!!! All in all, it can be crowded and noisy, but Id recommend it for the discounts and service.
