DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE! I really should have read the reviews and I am smacking myself now! We went for the puppy trim (5:30 PM-6:30 PM), online it says $17.99. We go in and the groomers are just staring at us and my dog (3 months old). She proceeds to tell me his hair is matted. As a new pet owner, that worries me as I pamper him and treat him like royalty. Anyways, she is showing me and tells me that she has to shave him completely, etc. I now feel defeated like I really messed up with him. She tells us that they close at 9 and that if we do not get their call, to either call them or come 45 mins prior to close. That did not make sense but okay, then proceeds to tell us that the cost will be $80+... uh what?! My boyfriend agrees and we walk out, leaving me confused and beyond annoyed. We walk around the store for over 45 mins and I am still in shock of the price but we proceed to dinner. We come back at 7:30 and he is not on the grooming floor. I am freaking out now, since my dog is almost 3 pounds, he has never been around this many dogs and is honestly probably freaking out. One of the workers who was just standing there and can tell that I am clearly upset lets the girl know in the back and she comes out with my dog, who has not even been touched yet. Once she is done butchering him (just his body, not back, head or legs) she brings him to the back again, 10 mins later, brings another dog out. WHERE IS MY DOG!? Long story really short... I am now beyond upset, another 15 minutes go by and my boyfriend asks her how much longer, probably another hour. That is when I come in, fuming, tell her I want my dog back now. We have been waiting almost 3 hours now. He is still not done, and this is not what we signed up for. She says he is not done yet, she let us know it would be 3+ hours and I let her know I do not care we will pay for everything she has done. Not to mention, we do not live close by. We finally get him back, I am holding in tears at this point. We go to the front and let them know we will we not be paying $77 lol. The manager completely agrees and just as upset as us. She said she would just let us do the Look Great Guarantee service, but working in the service industry I am not one to leave without paying since they did do a service, even though it was shoddy, we paid for some anyways. Moral of the story: Go to a professional, especially if it is your first time. We were on a time crunch and I was tired of not seeing his eyes. But this was ridiculous. I needed to get my two dogs nail trimmed, something that takes about 10-15 minutes to do. I have brought them here before and their website clearly states they accept walk ins. When I went into the grooming salon, 5 people were working on dogs. Not one of them greeted me or said "Can I help you?" they all just stared at me as if I was inconveniencing them by being there. I told them what I needed to get done and they informed me that they had no availability for nail trims. That was it, nothing more. I stood there confused because they accept walk ins and I did not understand how they had no availability to do a simple nail trim. I asked them if there was a waiting list or if they were booked and all they said was "Come back tomorrow" Not would you like to make an appointment to guarantee this will not happen again, nothing. I needed to get my dogs nail trimmed because I am being induced and really dont have time to take chances to see if they have "the time" tomorrow. Basically the customer service they provide sucks, they are not friendly and I will not be returning here again.

This is my favorite of all the local pet stores! They have knowledgeable people on staff who can help find what you need...and if, like me, youre disabled, they will pick up anything heavy or from a height too high to reach and put it in your cart or up front but also take it to your car for you once youve checked out! (Also, if you find the first store associate you ask cant answer your question...then there is usually another who can help. Just ask!) They also have decent prices on most items with their free Petperks program and if not at the moment...wait for it to go on sale soon. Lastly, you can order online and pick things up at the store (which sometimes saves a good amount) and you can take your pet in with you on a leash...but be prepared, kinda like toddlers, dogs especially will show you everything they like and want it NOW! lol

Alaina who was my dogs groomer and Alicea the salon leader were the best at the Newark Petsmart location since moving here ! I have always gotten my Goldendoodle Gizmo groomed at a private groomers and was skeptical taking him here BUT oh my gosh they were the best ! They loved him they cared for him did an amazing job my pup didnt wanna leave ! This location at the salon deserves recognition even the girl at the front register walked me to the grooming section ! The store in general is fantastic! Amazing service definitely deserves recognition! I know My Gizmo is happy!!!! :-) A++++

Customer service is this terrible at Petsmart especially the groomer service. Took my pet there twice they told me that he was nervous while getting his haircut so one of the people told me to get him some Benadryl I call to make another appointment another lady says we cant cut dogs hair when they have taken benadryl they then say but we can do it if you buy licks that we sell inside the store and it will calm your dog down after we buy it set up the appointment they refuse to work on our dog cause we gave him licks never going to this place agian bunch of Liars

Great store and prices....but GROOMING SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I took my fluffy 12 week puppy here for a TRIM, received no phone call when he was ready, and when they brought him out he was shaved completely down to his skin, with only some hair on his head/face. Not to mention the price of his grooming was up-charged almost $70, without reasonable explanation before or after the damage had been done. Not sure, if all the groomers are like this, but DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO BE GROOMED BY EMILY A. You will be HIGHLY disappointed!!!!!!!

Online appointment booking for grooming is subpar. Apparently the site is not regularly updated to show availability of groomers to service large and small dogs. For example, the groomer that is shown to be available to service large dogs is only allowed to service small dogs, but you do not find out until you show up at Petsmart for the appointment. Which, by that time, have all of their large dog groomers booked for the day. That is a waste of my time and gas, especially if the closest Petsmart is 18 miles away from home.
