Left a deposit on a car. I called them the next morning to tell them Ill be up there in the evening to pick it up, they said no problem just fill out the credit app. I filled the credit app at 9:30am, as did my father since he would he co-signing. I called them at 9:50am to fax me the car fax, salesman said give me 1 minute and Ill get that right over to you. I waited till 11:00am and called them back and the lady on the phone said that the salesman is helping customers and she said hell have him fax it. Called back at 12:00pm and now hes at the gas station and again she says Ill have him do it. Call at 1:00pm, but now I ask to speak with the sales manager and he tells me alright no problem Ill get that to you right now and then Ill call you back. At 2:00pm Ill call back, finally I talk to my salesman He said hell go ahead and fax that and I gave him the number to my insurance company. Now its 3:00pm and Im at my insurance company. Ill call them back and now Im furious! A different salesman picks up the phone and I tell him whats going on and this B.S.. He tells me that he personally will fax the papers and that the credit app can take a few hours and then changes what he said to it can take longer than that, even though usually credit apps take 5 or 10 minutes. Now Im at work and My father calls the sales manager asks "Is this a joke?". Manager says "I dont know what your talking about". They talk briefly and now we are expected there at 7:30pm. I leave work early and now Im on my way to pick the car up with my father. Its 7:30pm and we are a little late, so I call the dealer and ask the lady if the salesman is there, she says hes not available. I told her just let the salesman know Im gonna be 10 minutes late, she says no problem I tell him and have him call you back. As Im getting off the exit he calls me back and tells me we got denied on finance(even though we got approved with another dealer and got approved with another car a few months ago). I am now yelling at him and asked him when did he find out we got denied? He says at 6:00pm. So, then I ask why the F!@$ didnt you call me at 6:00pm and tell us that, you knew we were coming up to get the car. His excuse was he was busy with customers and couldnt take 2 minutes to call me. I dont know why they lead me along all day, but something is fishy. My father called the next morning to talk to a manger, and the lady connected him to the owners daughter. He left a message and she never called back. I never got the fax NOR the car. THEY SHOW NO MORALS.

I know car buying can be stressful. Trust me, Ive purchased from Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, and Subaru. Each time I left the dealership with my new car, I could not help to feel that I had been taken advantage of and ripped off somehow. Whether it be the trade-in value of my old car, or the payments on the new car - I always felt that they had won. That was before Hammonasset Ford. I first contacted the dealership via email to see if they had the car that I wanted. I was contacted right away, and was asked to come in and test drive the car. Also, the sales manager, Steve, reached out to me directly with any questions I had about the car I was interested in. When I reached the dealership and got out of my car, within 30 seconds CherlAnn greeted me and asked if I needed help. I told her I wanted to test drive the car, and so we did. All of my questions along the way were answered, with confidence and kindness. There was no BS with CherlAnn. Once the drive was over we went in and discussed what my needs were, and they were immediately met. The price was good, and there was no need to haggle. I even got weather mats thrown in for free! I also had the option to pick up the car that night, or the next day. I chose the next day. When I went home, I realized I never asked about the trade in of my car! I again, thought the dealership got the better of me. I immediately emailed both CherlAnn and Steve with my concerns. I was called and emailed back in a timely fashion, and I was invited to come down to the dealership and go over all the numbers. When I showed up, they showed my the computer programs they use, where the get their trade in values from (mostly auctions) and how much they gave me for my car. I felt so much better after speaking with Steve. The bottom line is that this dealership is honest. However, on top of being honest, they are kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and easy to get a hold of with questions or concerns. Everyone I dealt with there; CherlAnn, Steve, and the business manager (his name slipped my mind) were top notch people. For the first time in my life, I feel like I won! I could not be happier.

The salesperson (Mike Timmons) was nice and helpful, and the price the dealership offered was very attractive. However, the finance manager (Rodney Pomerleau) was not friendly. I was told that over the phone by Mike that any additional services ($50 nitrogen in the tires and $200 VIN etching) would be open to discussion before coming in. Little did I know that Rodney had already included these things on the contract because he said they were DONE already, and we had to negotiate for a while before he agreed to take off the VIN etching fee. So I gave away $50 for nitrogen which I dont need and is really there to help the dealership -- thats fine since their price was really strong initially anyway. What really concerned me is when I went back out after signing the paperwork with Mike and asked where I could find the VIN etching, he stumbled and told me that the physical etching on the glass is "not done anymore and instead we have these stickers." I called back the next day and Rodney told me the VIN etching is done inside the doors. Why couldnt they have been up front about that? It did not leave a great impression, and I can only recommend this dealership with caution. Their price may be great, but it does come with some potential hidden fees. Mike - kudos to you for your great customer service, although the VIN etch thing did concern me (more about integrity than the money). Rodney - you tried to rush me through the paperwork process and were not as open about these fees as I had hoped. Hammonasset Ford - your prices are low, but the way the sales process was handled for me, I can only recommend your dealership to others with a warning or two. One last thing -- not sure if other Ford dealerships do the same thing -- please do not present me a copy of the post-sale survey from Ford and ask me to rate all 5s with that column pre-highlighted by you. I would do that regardless if you had conducted the sale the right way and treated the customer with honesty. However, if you do not, and on top of that add insult to injury by asking me to rate all 5s when the customer service has NOT been superb, do you really think I would do that?
