I brought my standard Walmart special road bike in on Thursday with an appointment for a tune up prior to my Closer to Free Smilow Center fundraising bike ride. They said it would be ready the following Wednesday. Seriously? Im a first time rider and after speaking to other riders on my team, I called back to ask why it would take so long for a simple tune up. I was told that they are putting their staffing into their Ferry Ride for 9/11. I asked them to expedite the tune up and to their credit, they did. Hence the one star. But when I went to ride the bike, the alignment is off on the front tire and handlebars so they are not both forward facing. I called and was asked to email pictures, which I did. Then I was emailed back and told the tools necessary to fix this myself. WTF? I paid $63.80 for a TUNE UP and not only was it crap work, but I have to fix it myself?? I will never go back and they have lost my business - I was planning on purchasing a better quality bike from them but will likely go to Devils Gear in New Haven, where they do tune ups correctly and for free.

Had a really bad experience for the first time ever with a bike shop at Cycling Concepts =/. I concede that I had some issues with bringing in the proper parts, but it was an honest mistake that I was penalized for by being asked to come pick up my parts and "go find another store". I guess Im used to more local places that are more community orientated as opposed to out to make money. "Were a business" the manager said sharply in addition to "You cant just use our expertise." Actually had a friend that worked at this exact shop as a mechanic that got a feel for the internal mechanisms of it... "they are not nice people" is what he was saying, but thought Id give them a chance anyways since they are close to my home. Went to Bicycles East close by, they gave me better prices, and seemed to be more patient with my bike building process, Id totes recommend them over cycling concepts. Plus they had male and female employees, whereas Cycling concept had only male (too much testosterone can sometimes cause a bit of volatility in a community bike shop it seems...)

My wife and I are from out of town but often visit family in the area, and love riding the trails around Case Mountain. Although I carry a complete toolbox with me, sometimes things happen that are ride ending and arent addressed by normal tools. A while back I broke a proprietary suspension bolt on my Rumblefish, and Mike at Cycling Concepts was able to make a replacement from a stainless steel shoulder bolt that fit so perfectly, its what Trek should have used in the first place. More recently, I wanted to get a smaller chainring for my wife who is coming back from an injury, and they had exactly what I needed in stock, and were able to install it while I waited. Thats twice now that Cycling Concepts has saved a weekends worth of great riding!

I just purchased a bike from this shop. I initially went to try out a specific bike that other shops did not have. I told them that I was trying out numerous bikes elsewhere. They helped me set a demo bike up, putting on my pedals and adjusting the seat, and let me out the door for a spin, then I left. I called a few days later to order a bike and they went through the steps to have one shipped. Upon receiving the bike, they were meticulous in explaining everything about this bike, and then they set me up getting my exact height. This process took about 90 minutes. I never felt rushed, and they were very patient. The 3 people (including the owner) that I dealt with over this process knew their stuff. I highly recommend this shop.

These guys are helpful. Whatever they dont have theyll order it for you and go out of their way even when I walked in with a temperamental, abrasive attitude. They were very helpful after I went on a long ride and helped find what I needed when I was having trouble remembering the part I was looking for. Very knowledgeable. Im tempted to go on one of their cyclist socials. The area is great for it. They picked the right spot. They are far better though. If youre in the area check them out. They have what you need to fix your bike. Theyll order it if you want to do it yourself and will educate you if youre having an issue or concern without being snobbish like certain bike forums. Good people. I highly recommend.

I was struck head on by an SUV while waiting at a red light. I was able to jump out of the way, but my bike was not so lucky. I was stuck 10+ miles out from home on the other side of the river with an unridable bike. Fortunately, these guys were a little over a block from the accident. I told them my story and they immediately took the bike in back, gave all its components a quick checkup, and repaired whatever damage there was. Moreover, they did not charge me for any of the work. It may have only been 20 minutes of work, and no major damage to repair, but the fact that they gave me priority at that moment was very generous of them. This place will be my new go-to shop for any of my bike needs.

Ok, Normally when buying parts I buy online from some "discount internet place" - Ive been doing that for a while. I wanted some instant gratification - so I stopped by CC. ( I bought a bike there years ago. I was happy with it - so - I returned to give them business. ) After I finished putting my part on, I checked the prices online at the "discount" retailer. Um. The "online discount place" has higher prices than Cycling Concepts - and thats before they charge you shipping. SO - heres what I got: friendly service, my questions answered, awesome parts, AND - prices that the Internet couldnt beat. Shop with these guys - BUY FROM & SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS - you wont be disappointed.

I pass 4 other Local Bike shops before getting to Cycling Concepts in Rocky Hill. More then worth worth the few extra miles to get to them. By far the most knowledge staff from mechanical to translating my needs in to reality. Enter as a cyclist, leave as a friend. I suggest they make that their slogan.. Wait.. They offer other sports services and equipment too.. Snow shoeing and swim suits. Absolutely the best everything. They help you achieve your goals.. not just sell you something. If Im on the other side of the river I swing in to the Glastonbury shop to receive the same excellent service and welcoming atmosphere. Daren

I love this bike shop. I was planning a bike trip to France and needed to refresh my experience changing a flat tire. Keith spent time showing me exactly what to do, and he also made sure I could remove and reseat my pedals. Good thing because our second day out my friend got a flat. Fortunately I knew what to do so we were able to fix it and get back on our way. The staff is really helpful, and I never feel pressure to buy something I dont need. I recommend this shop to all of my friends
