I shop at this Safeway only when I dont have the energy to go into Napa for groceries. Much of the stock is priced significantly higher than the same items in Napa Safeways. This one clearly knows it has a large tourist clientele and convenience items, desserts, grab-and-go meals, and the like are marked way up to take advantage of the tourist crowd. I try and avoid Safeway at the common rush hours- lunch, after work, weekends. The shoppers tend to be mean, the parking lot is horrible to navigate, and the staff seem very put out by the clientele. If you have options to go into Napa or Santa Rosa to grocery shop, well worth the 30 or 40 minute drives! Plus, the money you save well makes up for the gas and time.

Zero stars. This is a grocery store I reserve only for emergency slash last resort needs. Condescending, rude and pushy checkers are allowed to treat customers as if theyre errant children reveal the arrogance of Safeways management. Avoiding this store, the only large supermarket in town, and not spending my money there has become a way of life for me. Just keep an ice chest in your car shop somewhere else. Yuk! Who needs it!

Safeway needs to up their game.... I am tired of standing in line at Safeway... Today the lines were backed up to the produce on one side and the deli on the other... Safeway has no respect for thier customers time... out of most organic vegetables...They know it is going to be busy in the late afternoon... Safeway makes no effort in this store because only one independent competitor in town

Safeway St Helena, poorest service at the front desk counter. Usually no staff is there and many times I left the counter in frustration just like today waiting 15 minutes and calling the attention of the cashier nearby. Ive been shopping there for the last 18 years but this time I have enough, I will do my shopping at Sunshine and Trade Joe

Its a nice store. Only grocery store in town, so no competition, making prices much higher than if force to compete for business. Example, 32oz bottle of ketchup in St. Helena is $5.29, twenty miles away in Napa its $3.79. I think price gouging is wrong just because you can.

The parking lot is a tad chaotic and finding a parking space near by may be a challenge. During busy times only three cashiers were open so while the overall selection of items is good. The checkout process was slow. Give extra time, this is not a quick shopping option.
