Had a great time today shopping at Fubonn for the first time. I would agree somewhat with some of the vegan reviews below that say that it smells like dead fish, which it does... but I dont agree with the rating of 1 star just because it offends someones vegan sensibilities. That has NOTHING to do with the quality of the store! As far as the store itself goes I would say that for the good, it has: 1. A large selection of Asian goods you wont find at many other places. 2. A GREAT selection of inexpensive teas 3. Specialty aisles, including a Japanese aisle For the bad, I would say: 1. Missplaced items randomly scattered throughout the store. It seems a lot of people abort their shopping missions halfway thru and dump their goods in random spots. Perhaps the employees could do a better job of restocking missplaced items. 2. Speaking of restocking, it seemed like a lot of items were due for that. If you dont see something where it should be, try scrouching down and looking towards the back for hidden items! 3. LONG LINES! 4. A stinky fish smell... which could be good for that authentic Asian fish market experience, but bad for easily offended vegans! :)

Fubonn is the place to purchase Asian grocery, selection and price is a litter better than other small Asian super market. Seem to me the owner or manage trained all the cashiers well for not provide any extra paper bag to customer. Tried to packaged as much items to each bag and gettting heavy, I tried to lift it up and accidently one of the paper handle broke and I ask for replacement for another bag. The cashier said it cost 25cent to replace it. I was pretty mad to hear the cashier asking for 25cent for a new bag. She also said it was your fault I did not broke when i package it. This is not the first time it happen to all the rude cashiers which get trained well from the owner and manager. They try to save small change and lose customers, on the other hand they paid big dollar every week to lots of Asian Advertising companies for they Adv. This is the last time Im going to shop at this place. Keep in mind customers will always be wrong, only they employees and owner or manager are always right, they do not care for customers only care to collect your money. Good luck to all the new shopper

DISHONEST!!! I host an exchange student from china, we bought a rice cooker there, it did not work. When we tried to exchange it for another one, they rudely refused to help and told us to contact the manufacturer. I pointed out we didnt buy it from a manufacturer, we bought it from you. When i asked to talk to a manager, she refused to provide his name or contact information. Obviously he is too afraid to face his customers and has already warned his employees, in advance, to shield him from his dishonest consequences! We also had purchased phone cards that were supposed to be worth thousands of minutes - but in reality, they only worked for a told of 23 minutes total. I have NEVER had a bad experience at any asian market EXCEPT this one - run, run fast and do not look back. they will cheat you any way they can and then hide if you come to look for them. Shame on you!! It might be newer, bigger and flashier - but shop at any other asian market; do not support dishonest businesses when there are so many honest hard working families running good businesses here

First off, when I entered the store, it smelled HORRIBLE! I mean, I know you cant expect Asian stores to smell good but this place.....well, I just couldnt handle the smell. Most Asian markets smell like fish, this one smelled like toilet cleaner. I mean, TOILET CLEANER?! SERIOUSLY?!?! Not only that: most of their vegetables didnt look fresh, the meat/fish area didnt look fresh, the aisles were disorganized, none of their employees spoke english, and they over-stuff your bags (like what some people here said). Im sorry, I will not support this place, and if you plan on coming here. Heres my advice: DONT. Go to Uwajimaya, they have better service.

Their products are nice displayed, but this is it. You can buy these products for better prices some other places, they are not too low, but they are ok. Anyway do not ever buy seafood from them. Not only once I bought some fish from them and at home I had to put it in the garbage because it was old and already started to decompose. I just threw $50 worth of fish few days ago. Do not throw your money like this. First time when happened I thought it was an accident, but when it happened the second and the third time...... no more.... I will never go to this store again.

If youre looking for Asian ingredients, look here! All those hard-to-find items plus thousands more are housed in this market. Take a couple of hours to peruse their overstocked fresh produce, seafood & specialty meats section, and grab a hot item from the deli. Hope youre not squeamish! Looking for a rice cooker or chopsticks? Youve come to the right place! After loading the car with your purchases, grab a Chinese Reflexology massage at the Health Spa. At a bargain $20/hr, you should add this stop to your weekly shopping adventure.

Fubonn is a pretty neat place to shop. I dont know how much I trust the meat items (dim sum, dumplings, etc...) Especially the stuff made overseas. I do however always find fresh produce here and the bean sprouts are my favorite by far. The honey dew ice cream pops are great too. After speaking with a local Thai restaurant owner. She says that Hong Phat is less expensive because less Americans shop there. She also prefers it over Fubonn. Ill definitely check that place out. I also like the Lilly Market depending which ever is closer.

Unfriendly customer service. We bought mortar and pestle in which mortar was missing. When we went to exchange at the customer service, the representative said the Cashier would have checked the missing part before billing. When we said that no one checked, she disagreed trying to prove the point that we were lying 3 times and blaming us for the misplace. Then she sends someone to cross check. The person comes with the missing part that indicated cashiers fault, but the representative doesnt even bother to apologize.

I have been this store for some times. However, they were selling some low-quality object to the customers. Some of vegetables were not fresh; There were cracks on the bowel; There was no expired data on some food such as DoFuGan (I think it have already past the expired data because taste was bad). I think the owner of the store only purchase low price object, they ignored the quality which should be more important. I give up this store now. And, buy the fresh Asian food from other small Asian stores near it.

Got to give this place a best ever. Why? Well one, it reminds me of my grandmother who used to serve up the best Indonesian food Ive ever eaten when she was alive. It reminds me of her because this is one of the few places in town you can find all the ingredients you need to make Indonesian cuisine. And two, it probably has the most underrated produce selection in Portland. Its extremely cost effective to shop here and this place would be the only reason I would consider moving out to the 82nd area.
