One has to realize that this is a fairly small community food store, so comments regarding produce selection and staff availability are not even adequate - this is not WinCo or Albertsons - the store is like 1000 sf, not 20,000 sf - you have you ask if you need help. Most people know what they want, though. And yes, when store chain works with huge farms that pack their produce with preservatives, then yes, you may expect them last for several weeks. But when fruit is of the garden, it suppose to go bad in 3-4 days. This is natural. Eat it. However, they do very well maintaining low prices for produce and other items. You can find here super nice real cakes (not your lazy Safeway or Costco snap-snap sugar bread - the real cakes!), great selection of cookies, teas, variety of carbonized drinks (who needs Coke or Pepsi anymore?), real sour cream, great selection of kielbasa at half the price of what you see in Whole Foods or Four Season Market, smoked fish (tasty trout and delicious salmon), candies, and a lot more. BTW, I have no strings attached to management or workers - just a happy customer.

I went there yesterday for the first time, having tried Babushka and Roman Russian stores on my previous trips to Portland from Grants Pass. All I can say is - WOW. You never, and I mean EVER get such nice customer service at Russian food stores. Well, maybe from the one in Walnut Creek CA, but not anywhere else. The people were nice from the moment I came up to the register, to the moment I left. The selection of things they carry is great - every kind of sausage you can imagine, lots of candy, lots of preserves, some fresh bread and grocery, dairy, and bakery items. I was there late in the day (7:30 PM), so most of their pirogi were gone, but Im sure you could get some if you came in earlier. They also have lots of pelmeni and vareniki. If I had any suggestions to add, I would say to have some chebyreki and blintsi on hand - that would be awesome. Oh, and some beet salad. Other than that, its now my favorite Russian store in Portland!

Unpleasant experience. The produce quality and choice were pretty bad. In order to save a trip to another store, I made the unwise decision and bought some tomatoes and pears. The tomatoes quickly went bad in my fridge and the pears, appeared to be half frozen, never ripened and were inedible. The whole time I was in the store, no one came up to ask if I needed any help; the workers who were stocking the shelves treated me as I were transparent. I remained invisible to these people until I tried to reach out for a loaf of bread, and thats when the unfriendly cashier stopped me and insisted that she gets it for me, as if I were some stupid tourist trying to poke a finger through Mona Lisa. I was told that this is very typical for Ukrainian shopkeepers. Anyway, I have serious reservation about going back to the store. In all likelihood, I wont be back.

My mom bought once an expired cake here (she didnt look at the expiration date) and had to bring it back. Good that they gave the money back. Be careful with all sausages and cheeses they sell (who knows how it was shipped here all the way from Europe and at what temperature) I would rather buy it at local organic health food store where my meat is clearly labeled ORGANIC with an expiration date stamp on it. Be careful with chocolate candy they sell here by the pound. I could have worms in it. Sister had worms in her candy

I like to buy veggies and apples especially !!!but other meat foods always fresh too. Whats related to customer service it depends who you get, most of the time I get good service. The poor customer service comes from how staff were trained . The staff who works there ,some of them its a first job in USA so they still have this poor customer service skills. They arent mean people thats how been raised and didnt get chance to be trained by right person at USA . Great place to get fresh baked and hot bread!!!

Bought cookies without looking at the experation date came home opened a pack and it felt like bricks, looked at the experation date and it was expired 2 MONTHS ago, trying to sell you older колбаса (sausage) thats been sitting in the fridge from who knows when, it gets rotten pretty fast, i will never come back to this store again. I live all the way in Salem, otherwise i would come to the store and throw those stincking cookies in their lying faces

Two stars with indulgency.The place have a atmosphere of xenophobia and sovinism.Feel very sorry for the workers,they are nice peoples.The management is wrong Seen a lot of rude customers that get in front of you in line ,I had this nasty experience and also all items written just in Russian language.Why not put in English too?Are we not living in America?

I have to say I prefer other Russian food stores over this one, as the pastries I purchased here were all very fake tasting, like they put food coloring in Cool Whip and used that on everything. They DO carry the little filled ice cream cones that I used to eat as kid in Russia all the time, so definitely some bonus points for that!!!

A very cheerful little store. Just like a little produkty in Moscow, but friendlier. They have a great selection of the basics: pelmeni, breads, sausage, smoked fish, candy, canned goods, etc. Reasonable prices considering how much of the product is both niche and imported. When we need to stock up on Russian food its our go-to store.

Bought a bag of chocolates Sunday 27th of July 2015 , today I open one of them up and out crawls a worm..Ya need to double check your products before selling them..on top of that Im sure its super old otherwise worms wouldnt be crawling out ..Im very disappointed bout this , since Im always buying here..

This is the best Russian grocery store in Portland that Ive seen so far. They dont have everything, but they have pretty good selection on some things. Prices are comparable to other Russian stores, expect to pay the same for the same products.

A spectacular, well stocked, fresh selection of everything from phenomenal bread to rose hips to nuts to cured meats and more. Even fresh fruit. All an extreme bargain, and very friendly help, quick to answer questions and offer samples

They have candies that you can make horribly inaccurate guesses as to the flavor based on the label image. My wife cannot hold a straight face when I start making jokes about the labels.

Plenty of hard-to-find Russian and European goods. Definitely an ethnic market - I always feel a little out of place here, but the staff is friendly. Good prices.
