Finishing up a four day visit to Santa Cruz from overseas. Went to the store twice to shop for groceries and had dinner there one night. I really like the market but must say I was extraordinarily disappointed with a few things: 1. In store WiFi - I picked up a store network but was told by store employees that they didnt know the password and it was not available for customer use. I find that shocking in this day and age. Whats the point in having the network? 2. After purchasing about $50 worth of food and having to carry groceries back to the hotel I asked (nicely) for a bag to carry them in. Was told by store staff that it would cost me 25 cents/bag which I refused to pay out of principle. A customer who spends $50 or so in a store, particularly one visiting from out of town, who doesnt travel with my eco-grocery bag, should be offered a bag for free out of kindness. So disturbing. 3. The grilled salmon from the food bar for $7.99/piece was incredibly dry and overcooked. Couldnt cut it with in store plastic cutlery, thats how leather-like it was, and had to bring it back to the kitchen for them to cut it for me. Summary: disappointing experience and wont be back anytime soon.

This place is good and is the customer service. The food is decent even from the hot bar. However the taste and texture of the rotisserie chicken if far far better at the location in Felton; at least in my experience. What I had here was a bit dry and stale in taste comparison and I guess I just got spoiled by the other and their kitchen skills. I know cooking can be a tough job though and its easy to criticize even a fairly decent meal. Im just saying maybe than take some tips or try to emulate what the peeps in Felton are doing. There was a woman in the supplement section who was very kind and helpful with me even showing me stuff in a section that wasnt really part of area of focus. I asked her if she didnt mind helping me though; because she had such a pleasant demeanor and that always helps

Its a bit crowded here so I tend to prefer the New Leaf on the Westside. Downtown feels like its a grocery in Manhattan. Get a double shot of ginger when youre here. Itll cure canker sores (not cold sores which are unrelated). I used to suffer bad from these painful sores until I found ginger shots. Also, order your custom vegan birthday cake here. Allow at least one day for delivery. NL request chocolate

Great place to stop and grab lunch supplies for a beach day. Many quality natural and organic items available at quality prices. I always feel better about buying a few things here for a lunch than stopping at a burger/pizza/whatever place.

Local produce: limited but, fresh inventory. Not so friendly staff. Slightly overpriced compared to Trader Joes or ever Whole Foods...Oh, I forgot to say, if youre an animal eater, they really have the best meat in town, bars none.

Organic and fresh items. I relied on this place for my grocery needs last three years. Highly recommended. Downsides: this store is relatively smaller compared to other New Leaf stores, and yes, New Leaf is very expensive!

Love New Leaf, just wish there was a way for them to expand the space (there isnt). Not as big as west side location but very convenient if you live near downtown not to have to drive Mission or Soquel in the evenings.

Pricy. It has multiple meat, fish, and vegetable options. They have a small selection of vegan ice cream. Bring your own bag when you shop here, and they will donate 10 cents on your behalf to local charities.

Eh..too many vegteables not enough good snacks. Kids hate the food I buy there. Overall a bad experience with the staff. Wouldnt go agian. Also regular snacks, not organic are still quiet an expense.
