I am updating my original review to reflect the correct circumstances. Short version - Computer zone turned what looked like a hopeless situation into recovering my data from lost drives. I cant be happier! They accomplished a miracle. Long Version: (its really boring, the short version says it all, but if you have more time to waste, then read on...) I had my assistant bring in 4 Hard Drives from older computers. Instructions were simple "Copy ALL files from hard drives to the provided USB External Drive." At first they quoted me $1000 to do the work. Eventually they brought the price down to about $400. Upon Completion they gave back the USB External drive, but not the original drives. After review of the USB drive, the drive only contained certain documents, i.e. User Docs from the My Documents Directory. There was a misunderstanding in the work I wanted completed. They initially thought they would not be able to recover the data since the original drives were submitted for recycling. When I altered them to the situation and explained how important the files be recovered, from the root directory, not just user files they went out of their way to locate the original drives. I could not believe they found them - It was a miracle or something. After clearing up our miscommunication they did get all the data from the drives, including the ones that had a damaged partition and bad sectors. I initially jumped to the conclusion I would never get the data, but computer Zone went out of their way to rectify the issue and get me the data back. Today, I have recovered the lost data from damaged hard drive going back to 2008. We had a small confusion in the beginning, but Computer Zone acted promptly to rectify the situation and complete the task. I guess my advice is to be very clear with your exact instructions and they should perform to your satisfaction. Try to get things in writing/email so there is never any confusion.

The two stars are for Michael, the guy with the beard, as a credit to his friendliness and professionalism. I brought my beloved server tower here to sell, while I can understand repairs are higher priority than purchases, I was hoping for a more cut and dry experience rather than waiting around on Craigslist or whatnot. Well, Kavin seems like he could not be bothered making decisions nor giving his staff decision making power all while being a pretty hands off owner. I havent seen or spoken to him directly, but shortly after bringing in my tower he "went out of town" and wouldnt be expected back for a week or two. They wouldnt be able to make me an offer until his return. If you dont want to be bothered making decisions, let your staff take initiative and trust their judgement. After waiting a week I hadnt heard anything - and having called in after half a week - I was expecting the worst based on other reviews, but after some misdirected anger toward Michael, they did indeed still have my tower and understood if Id prefer to take my business elsewhere. Its a shame because I enjoy supporting small businesses and would prefer to have had us both mutually benefited from my business there.

I brought my laptop to these crooks. I should have listened to the other reviews claiming these people as thieves that take advantage of peoples ignorance with technology. My laptop would not power on. They claimed they were 40.00 per hour and they were running a special on such cases as these. They said it would take five hours to take the machine apart. Thats $200.00. I had a bad feeling about the whole deal and wanted a second opinion. I called Santa Cruz Digital Solutions and the technician there had me loosen one screw on the back of the laptop and there I found a small reset switch. Pushed the button and the laptop is fine. This company is $80.00 per hour and know what they are doing. Why are Computer Zones rates 40 an hour? Because they are low life crooks. They have inexperienced kids working here and in the end you will pay through your teeth. Advise. STAY AWAY. PERIOD.

After 3 days of agonizing pain with trying to get my computer to clean install since it had a hard drive failure, i gave up and decided to get some professional help. I discovered Michael and Computer Zone, after a few quick emails. I tried to find time to drop it off at their office during his work hours (Which i failed multiple times, but we finally met in the end!). He told me he would let me know the problem as soon as he can. Within the next morning, Michael emails me and informs me of the problems and tells me it will be fixed with no problems. I gracefully accept and picked up my computer a day after it was completed. It works wonderfully and i will definitely recommend Michael and The Computer Zone to anyone. Im pretty into computers myself, and i thought i was going to lose my laptop but, Michael came and saved the day.

My work place based in pacific ave and I went to work one day asking one of my colleague about computer repair service and he recommend we computing repair centre off Center Street as he had his important data recovery back up at this place before and he mentioned that done very fast. I went with his recommendation and visited the shop with my Toshiba l50 that stopped working as it show error and never start. The guys said that the hard drive is faulty and need replacement, they gave me different options for different hard drive and I requested windows 10 and the price for this was $99. I left the shop at 10:30 am and had a phone call at 3 pm with good news( my laptop is ready and more faster than before) Over all it was very good experience and will defiantly recommend this place.

These guys have destroyed what was a once working iphone with an old battery in need of replacement. Theyve fumbled around for weeks (truly!, yes people need their phones) with it ,causing multiple new issues along the way. Theyve ordered new parts and then not called me after theyve arrived and the owner literally took the phone from my hands and then straight dropped it on the floor from 4 feet up. Now after 5 separate visits the phone is just simply constantly blue screening. Youd be better off saving your money to put towards a new phone or just simply taking it into Apple where they guarantee the work. Monkeys would do a better job.

These people are not good. Take your technical problems elsewhere. They promised to call me if they had any questions, but they never called me and configured my computer in a stupid way. I hired them to install an operating system; they installed the 32bit version on a 64bit machine and made the usr partition only 3Gs. Originally I thought I might need to just repartition the hard drive, but due to their incompetence I will have re-install Debian with the 64bit version myself. This shop will waste your money. Please do not use this shop; I am sure that there are other shops that are more worthy of your support.

Their markups are insane. I understand that stuff is cheaper on the internet, and I am willing to pay a markup. I try to support local businesses. I will never set foot in Computer Zone stores again. They are rude, their markup is usually several hundred percent, and their owner snaps at you if you offer anything less. Often, if Ive needed the part immediately, Ive found myself driving to Circuit City. Its really pathetic when Circuit City has dramatically better prices and customer service. One star is too many. Theyve completely lost me as a customer.
