If it was possible for a rating of 0 then that is what I would rate this place. Absolutely pure garbage. I called 8/26/2014 at 6:11pm initially asking if they offered Hunters Safety Program. I spoke to some worker named Peter, he said that they did not so I asked if they had a Savage Axis 306, and so he puts me on hold, which was fine, and gets back to me telling me that he does not but has a Savage axis 7mm. I asked him the price, he told me $410, and the grand, including the background check, total $490. I was also told that that was the only gun in stock on clearance price but they had several other 7mm guns by different makers on clearance and on sale; because I have a good friend who was also interested in purchasing. I asked Peter if he can hold the items for me and so he took my full name and number down and said yes. I also told Peter that I will be coming out of San Jose by 8/27/2014 at the latest since they held items until the next closing day. I arrive 8/26/2014 at 8:15pm, within 2 hours. I get there to find out that the gun is not on the clearance price of $410 but $430 which is the exact price at a Big5 in San Jose, WHERE I LIVE! We also find that there were no other 7mm hunting rifles, WE BASICALLY DROVE FOR NO APPARENT REASON!!!! COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. I was specifically told something and the piece of crap store that wastes my valuable time and money. And the managers were not helpful at all, they were acting as if they were all bamboozled.

This place and its customer service SUCKS! If I could give it negative stars I would. I approached a woman standing by the counter and asked for her help. I stated that it was my very first time shopping with Big 5. She pointed in a direction and told me the ladies snow pants were behind the shoes. Again I stated 1st time shopper so I dont know where the shoes are. I also asked about womens gloves that were on sale. She took me to an area and pointed at gloves. I informed her that they were for men. I asked about ladies gloves. When I finally found the ladies gloves I walked to the counter and asked a different woman if she could remove the anti-theft device so that I could try them on. She showed me how I should force my hand past the device to try them on. She even stated that if I wiggled and forced my hand past I wouldnt scratch myself with the device.

Horrible customer service! After waiting an hour to purchase a firearm, my son was told to come back. He went back the next day and paid for the firearm . Big 5 failed to contact my son to let him know his background check had came back undetermined. Went to pick up the weapon and was told to wait. Not even a week later, they sold my sons firearm!!!! Now if the background check clears he wont be able to buy the gun because they were selling out due to a new law taking effect. I will never shop here ever again!!

Hit or miss service at the gun counter. Big 5 is comparable to all other Big 5s, lots of older stuff and prices arent very low. Feels like Im shopping at a discount store but the prices dont really reflect that. Would probably go elsewhere if I really needed something that Big 5 sold. I would only recommend coming to Big 5 for some of their sales on their firearms that they have. Always look out for their sales because they usually repeat.

Nothing too remarkable about this place, its a little cosy walking through the isles. If you need to pick up some sports equipment chances are they have it. (shoes, clothes, work out equipment, airsoft/ pellet gun, hunting bow, fishing equipment) Call ahead if you need something specific though.

This location has really great customer service as well as a good variety of products. The product I was looking for was not in stock but the employees did their best to help me find a suitable replacement item. I will bring my business back to them.

Probably great for your average athletic person. Went there looking for a biking helmet for my husband, who happens to have a relatively large noggin, and found one that might not give him a migraine. The selection was mighty limited.
