Went in there to get a mousetrap and the fellow at the counter says theyre on aisle 11. I go looking for aisle 11. No numbers on any of the aisles. Go to the back of the store thinking maybe they put the numbers only on the back end of the aisles. Nope. Wander around looking for mousetraps. Run into a guy on the floor and I say "Hey whats up with the numbers on the aisles? I cant find any." He says "Just tell me what you need." I say "Mousetraps, aisle 11" and he leads me and as were walking I say "Hey but so really why arent there any numbers on the aisles? Especially if people are sending people to a numbered aisle?" He mumbles something about "Ill just show you where the mousetraps are." I say thanks, no problem. Were at the mousetraps. Im wondering if I should just let it go. I pick my mousetrap. Anything else, he asks? Well, I say, just in case Im back in the store and theres nobody available to help, am I missing something? Is there a numbering system? "Yes, there is." Big pause. "What is it?" "The aisles are numbered. You just cant see them." "Thanks. I gotta admit now Im kinda curious why." He says all the numbers on all the aisles are covered. OK. Im kinda hanging by a thread at this point. "So they have numbers but these numbers are not visible to the customers? How is that?" I realize this guy is suffering and I feel lots of compassion as he says "Because the owner likes to cover the numbers with all kinds of merchandise that we dont need and nobody wants." "Oh man, that must be frustrating for you." "Yeah." "Is this a temporary thing?" "Nope." We must look into one anothers eyes and I realize hes doing is best and he realizes I am too. We bond around the paradox: The aisles arent numbered, because the people for whom the numbers exist cannot see any of the numbers, and the aisles are numbered, because they are, its just that the numbers are all covered up. I buy my $7.99 mousetrap with nothing but gratitude, and a personal vow to avoid.

Ace on Clement is a quality local hardware store with a diverse selection of home improvement needs. Like most local hardware stores, they try to cover a lot of different hardware needs so the variety of parts or brands isnt great. That being said they staff is very friendly and helpful and overall they probably have the product you need. Prices are more expensive than the big box stores but for the city the process are decent. Definitely a place to get a missing part or piece, probably not the place to shop for a large project.

Best team of employees Ive every met. I walked in Monday morning and asked the cashier a question, he immediately called someone else, because he didnt know. The guy came instantly answered my questions, called another employee to confirm what I needed, which helped me out be confident in my purchase. They walked me to where I needed to go instead of me finding it so I was in and out fast.
